Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita sued the Indiana High School Athletic Association this week to kill a bylaw that locks two of 19 board seats for people the association calls “qualified minorities.”

The bylaws define that phrase as “an individual other than a white male or female.”

Nominating petitions for those seats have to verify the candidate’s race.

The rule, in various forms, has been in place since 1993. The current wording was first introduced in the 2001-02 bylaws.

“Hoosier students should not be governed by a sports association that picks its leaders based on race,” Rokita said in a statement announcing the lawsuit.

“IHSAA’s quota tells kids that skin color, rather than merit, is an appropriate way to judge people. That lesson has no place in Indiana’s education system, and, regardless, the law does not permit it. The IHSAA exists to build character. A racial litmus test for choosing leadership on the IHSAA’s board does the opposite, and after months of delay, the Association left us no choice but to take legal action.”

The suit, filed in Marion County Superior Court, asks for a permanent injunction stripping the racial seats from the bylaws, a ban on any future race-based allocation of board seats, and a declaration that the quota violates Indiana law.

The complaint calls it an “overt racial classification” and an “express racial classification” that is “an abuse of authority conferred by law, a waste of corporate assets, and incompatible with the public purpose for which IHSAA was organized.”

White men and white women are closed out of those two seats “solely because of race.”

Rokita’s office first told the association to drop the quota in April.

IHSAA said it disagreed and would look at bylaw changes in May 2027.

After more letters and an August 25 executive committee meeting that changed nothing, the state sued.

The Pacific Legal Foundation and the Equal Protection Project had already written the association last year demanding the race and sex screens come out.

William A. Jacobson of the Equal Protection Project told Fox News, “We hope that IHSAA will do the right thing and voluntarily remedy the discriminatory bylaws provisions, but if it does not, all legal options are on the table.”

IHSAA responded that it “disagrees with any suggestion that our bylaws violate federal and state civil rights laws or in any way constitute an abuse of its nonprofit status.”

“To the contrary, the IHSAA is committed to serving all student-athletes and member schools throughout Indiana. Consistent with that mission, we value broad representation and diverse perspectives among those who help guide and support interscholastic athletics across the state.”

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — For years, South Korea’s legacy media have faced criticism for repeatedly presenting President Donald Trump to the Korean public through distorted or overwhelmingly negative coverage. Now, anti-Trump messaging has surfaced in an even more troubling place — inside the South Korean military.

While American and South Korean forces were conducting Ulchi Freedom Shield (UFS), one of their most important annual joint military exercises, approximately 1,600 new South Korean Army recruits were given training that included prepared material denouncing President Trump.

The training was conducted on August 20 and 27 at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan. It was officially presented as education designed to promote gender awareness and mutual respect within the military.

But the prepared presentation included a section titled “Toxic Men Are the Cause of War.”

The material used remarks by Spanish actor Javier Bardem attacking President Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over what he described as the “toxic masculinity” of powerful male leaders.

Those remarks and related articles were incorporated into the presentation shown to approximately 1,600 Army recruits.

President Trump was placed alongside Putin and Netanyahu in material connecting “toxic masculinity” with war and mass casualties.

And this was not an instructor making a spontaneous political comment in the classroom.

The material had been prepared in advance and incorporated into the presentation used for the Army training.

The timing makes the episode even more striking.

As American troops trained alongside South Korean forces under Ulchi Freedom Shield, South Korean recruits were simultaneously being shown prepared material denouncing the sitting President of the United States.

The United States maintains approximately 28,500 troops in South Korea and remains South Korea’s principal military ally.

The incident became public after the training materials were obtained from the Ministry of National Defense and disclosed in South Korea.

The Army confirmed that the training had taken place and acknowledged that some of the material could create unnecessary misunderstanding unrelated to the stated purpose of the program.

The instructor said she did not know that the lectures coincided with the U.S.-ROK joint military exercise and said she would be more careful in the future.

But the disclosure goes beyond the timing of a single lecture.

South Koreans have already been exposed to years of deeply negative and, critics argue, distorted portrayals of President Trump in the country’s legacy media. Now material denouncing Trump has appeared inside an official Army training program for 1,600 new soldiers — at the very moment South Korean and American forces were training together as allies.

The immediate question is how political material targeting the sitting U.S. president was allowed into an official South Korean Army training program in the first place.

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is urging U.S. service members and their families to register and vote in the upcoming midterm elections.

In a video posted on X, Hegseth said roughly 300,000 service members were not registered to vote in 2024 and encouraged commanders to help get voting information to the force.

That number, he noted, is larger than the ballots cast in cities like Detroit, Boston, Milwaukee, or Seattle.

The Secretary pointed every warrior, spouse, and eligible family member to the Federal Voting Assistance Program site: FVAP.gov.

He told commanders the same thing: get out there and register them. “You’re not telling them who to vote for. You’re just telling them to vote.”

According to The Hill, about 67 percent of active-duty members were registered in 2024, a three-point drop from 2020. Roughly 71 percent of the 1.3 million active-duty force is eligible for special absentee protections because they are stationed away from home.

That is hundreds of thousands of Americans who put on the uniform and then sit out the election that decides whether they get sent to war.

And if you’re forward-deployed and your standard ballot is delayed, you can use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot. All of these processes are straightforward and protected by law.

“So I’m urging all of our warfighters, their spouses, and eligible family members: Go to FVAP.gov—FVAP.gov—and do it today.

“And commanders, get out the vote. You’re not telling them who to vote for; you’re just telling them to vote. And make sure our voting assistance officers—that was actually once my job for my 1st Platoon, 2nd of the 113th Infantry, down at Guantanamo Bay. I was the voting assistance officer, and I proudly got everyone in my platoon and the company registered to vote.

“So, our voting assistance officers, get out there and register your warfighters. Every warrior deserves an opportunity to cast his or her ballot and be confident that it will be counted.

“Keep our nation the land of the free and the home of the brave. Get registered and vote.”

Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken, a Democrat running for reelection in a majority-Latino city, is under review after her chief of staff claimed she repeatedly called her a “dirty Mexican” and grilled her about being a lesbian.

Employment attorney Lawrence Lennemann sent a four-page mediation demand to City Attorney Robert Fabela on September 11 for Berenice Ballinas, a Latina who remains a city employee on medical leave.

The letter says Ballinas was made to drive Aitken home from events after the mayor had been drinking.

“On various occasions when Ms. Ballinas was forced to drive Mayor Aitken home, Mayor Aitken exclaimed that she did ‘not want her car driven by a dirty Mexican,’” Lennemann wrote.

Lennemann said the line was used more than once.

The same letter accuses Aitken and former City Manager Jim Vanderpool of a years-long habit, from 2023 through June 2026, of calling Ballinas a lesbian, pressing her to admit it, and questioning her dates and guests.

“Beginning in or about 2023 and continuing through at least June 2026, Mayor Aitken and Mr. Vanderpool repeatedly and habitually made unwelcome comments regarding Ms. Ballinas’ perceived sexuality,” the letter claims, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times, “including myriad statements and insinuations that she is a lesbian, directly referring to her as a lesbian, pressuring her to admit that she was a lesbian, questioning of her romantic relationships, and comments directed at her guests and companions.”

It also describes a June outing at Disneyland’s Club 33 and the 1901 Lounge at California Adventure, where Aitken allegedly commented on a Disney worker’s sexuality and ethnicity.

Lennemann wrote that two Disney employees complained and that a third party’s Club 33 membership was suspended.

Ballinas is seeking mediation before a lawsuit.

The letter also says the city sat on an approved raise for Ballinas.

Aitken responded by asking constituents to “look at my record” and repeated that line in Spanish at Tuesday’s council meeting.

She said she would “readily and truthfully participate” in any review.

After residents demanded her resignation and Republican Councilwoman Natalie Meeks called for an investigation, the mayor posted a longer denial on Facebook.

“These allegations are extremely serious, and they deserve to be investigated. I did not use the racial slur attributed to me, and I have always been a champion of the LGBTQ community,” she wrote. “Berenice remains a City employee, and because this involves an ongoing personnel matter, there are strict limits on what I can responsibly discuss publicly.”

“I will not violate her privacy or attack an employee who has recently experienced a serious medical issue simply to defend myself in the press. I welcome an investigation and will cooperate truthfully, and I believe the facts should determine what happened. I care about Berenice and sincerely wish her well in her recovery. I also believe that I am entitled to have these extraordinarily serious allegations evaluated on the evidence.”

City spokesman Mike Lyster confirmed to The Voice of OC that a review is underway. He would not say who is running it, how long it will take, what it will cover, or whether the findings will be public.

Aitken is still on the November ballot, for now.

NYPD released bodycam footage of the moment officers fatally shot the knife-wielding woman who stabbed two innocent people in Times Square last month.

A Bank of America executive was killed during a stabbing in Times Square in New York City.

Erin Piacenti, 32, of Chester, New Jersey, was fatally stabbed by a female assailant last month.

The stabber, identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, was fatally shot by NYPD officers.

A dramatic video posted to social media shows the moment police officers shot a knife-wielding Cisneros.

Piacenti was stabbed in the abdomen in an “unprovoked attack,” NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said during a press conference.

Cisneros used two kitchen knives to carry out the attack. She also stabbed a 68-year-old man in the stomach, but he survived.

On Friday evening, police released NYPD bodycam footage of the moment Cisneros charged at police.

The footage shows officers trying to peacefully disarm Cisneros before she charged at police.

“Put the knife down,” Officer Ryan Brito told Cisneros.

“Come and get me!” Cisneros said.

The other officer, Francis Gagliano, replied, “I don’t want to get you.”

“I’m tired of this world already,” Cisneros said. “Tired of this sh*t.”

The officer showed Cisneros empathy and tried to disarm her again.

“I get it. The world is hard, especially New York City. I know New York City is hard. Trust me, we all suffer,” Officer Brito said. “You believe in God?”

Cisneros replied, “No, not anymore. You’re going to have to kill me. Either that, or I’m going to kill all of you.”

“Listen, I know you’re going through a lot, but it’s not worth it. It’s not worth it… I promise you,” Brito said.

Cisneros refused to drop the knives and began charging at police.

Officers fatally shot Cisneros after the tasers failed to stop her.
