ABC’s far-left daytime circus The View just did what Disney lawyers keep pretending the show never does: it used the public airwaves to pick a House race, name the Democrat, and tell people in a specific Florida district to go vote him in.

On Monday’s broadcast, co-host Ana Navarro, the network’s “Republican,” walked viewers through Florida’s 27th Congressional District, the South Florida seat she said she lives in, and then dropped the mask.

“So, anybody who lives in Coral Gables, in Miami, in Key Biscayne, in downtown Miami, pay attention to that race and go vote because it’s going to matter,” Navarro said. “And we can actually knock this woman out. There’s a great guy running, his name is Elliot Rodriguez. Give him a look.”

The “woman” is Republican Congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar. The “great guy” is Democrat Eliott Rodriguez, the former CBS Miami anchor now running to flip FL-27.

Navarro also noted that Salazar won her last election comfortably but said the race has suddenly become much more competitive.

That assessment is based in part on Democratic-sponsored polling. A September survey conducted by Tulchin Research for the Democratic House Majority PAC showed Salazar at 47% and Rodriguez at 46%, while an August Bendixen & Amandi poll showed the two candidates tied at 45%. Those results should be viewed with their sponsorship in mind.

Salazar won reelection in 2024 with 199,159 votes, or 60.38%, compared with Democrat Lucia Báez-Geller’s 130,708 votes, or 39.62%, a margin of more than 20 percentage points, according to official Miami-Dade County results.

According to NewsBusters, the clip is one of the most overt examples yet of ABC News using a licensed broadcast program to electioneer. MRC associate editor Nicholas Fondacaro posted the excerpt and put it plainly: electioneering is a violation of ABC’s broadcast license.

The FEC defines electioneering as a broadcast, cable, or satellite communication that identifies a federal candidate, is distributed to the relevant electorate, and airs within 30 days of a primary or 60 days of a general election. For the November 3, 2026 general election, that federal electioneering-communication period began on September 4, 2026.

There is also “express advocacy,” which is even more direct: language unmistakably urging the election or defeat of a particular candidate. The FEC distinguishes that concept from the technical category of an “electioneering communication.”

Disney still wants you to believe this is “bona fide news.”

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, FCC Chairman Brendan Carr opened a public proceeding this year after Disney petitioned the Commission to declare The View a bona fide news interview program exempt from equal-opportunity rules. Carr’s point was simple: a show does not get the news exemption if its booking and commentary are “based on partisan purposes, such as an intention to advance or harm an individual’s candidacy.”

The Media Research Center has already dumped thousands of exhibits into that file. According to Fox News, MRC President David Bozell told Fox News Digital that broadcast licenses are a privilege, not an entitlement, and that ABC is operating like a partisan cable network on the public airwaves. Bozell’s letter to the FCC argued The View is not news. It is a Democratic operation.

The Gateway Pundit reported in June that MRC submitted 2,473 separate pieces of evidence documenting The View’s “pervasive bias” and, at times, “willful electioneering.” Monday’s segment belongs in that pile.

This is not the first time Navarro has used the show as a get-out-the-vote shop. In May she told viewers that if they wanted “abuses of power checked,” they had to “vote Democrats in in November, period.”

Whoopi Goldberg has run the same play, warning the audience that “our lives literally depend” on turnout. Disney still files papers in Washington calling this Meet the Press.

Conservative Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito recused from a blockbuster climate case.

Oral arguments for Suncor Energy v County Commissioners of Boulder County are scheduled for next week.

The high profile case will determine whether state and local governments can sue oil companies for damages caused by ‘climate change.’

Alito previously refused to recuse himself from the case despite pressure from environmental groups over his holdings of stock in oil companies.

Justice Alito does not have a financial interest in any of the parties.

“Justice Alito has determined that he will not continue to participate,” the high court said.

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is stepping back from a major climate argument just a week before the court is scheduled to take up the case.

Alito had faced calls to recuse himself from Suncor v. Boulder over his financial interests in energy companies.

A Monday letter from Scott Harris, clerk of the court, informed the parties that Alito “has determined that he will not continue to participate in this case.” The notice did not further explain his decision to sit out arguments Oct. 5, the first day of the court’s new term.

In the case, Colorado localities are seeking damages under state tort laws related to the effects of climate change. The suit named Suncor and ExxonMobil.

While Alito does not hold stock in those companies, he is invested in several other fossil fuel companies, including oil giants ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66. They are named in many lawsuits similar to Colorado’s that have been filed around the country. The future of those cases will be affected by the Supreme Court’s ruling in Suncor.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Monday that his office has launched an investigation into Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas over allegations that the insurer denied or delayed urgent and medically necessary care, as a separate national debate intensifies over the use of artificial intelligence by both hospitals and insurance companies.

According to the Texas Attorney General’s Office, the investigation covers Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, its parent company Health Care Service Corporation, and related entities. Investigators are examining the companies’ claim-review procedures and prior-authorization requirements.

Paxton’s office said it had received reports alleging that medically necessary or urgent procedures were delayed or denied.

In one particularly serious allegation, the Attorney General’s Office said a newborn needed urgent treatment and a transfer to another medical facility, but administrative denials and potentially improper utilization-review procedures allegedly delayed approval.

“Blue Cross Blue Shield has a responsibility to put patients before profits and ensure that Texans receive the care they need,” said Attorney General Paxton.

“When a newborn baby or any other Texan urgently needs medical treatment, an insurance company’s priority should be helping provide that care to the best of its ability—not searching for ways to delay or deny it. I will wage a relentless legal battle against any insurance company that fails to protect health and safety of Texans.”

The Texas investigation comes just days after the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association released its own analysis raising concerns about an entirely different side of the healthcare payment system: hospitals using artificial intelligence to identify additional billable diagnoses.

According to Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s September 24 analysis, increasing coding intensity was associated with an estimated $942 million in additional spending for Blue Cross companies between 2023 and 2025. Roughly $653 million was linked to secondary diagnoses that moved patients into higher-reimbursement categories.

BCBSA said more than 60% of hospital systems now use AI-enabled technology capable of scanning laboratory results, medical records and clinical documentation for secondary diagnoses.

The association’s analysis found that the percentage of inpatient cases categorized as medically complex increased from roughly 37% in early 2023 to 40% by the end of 2025.

At the same time, BCBSA said it found no corresponding increase in treatment that would indicate patients were actually receiving substantially more complex care.

Luke Chalker, BCBSA’s senior vice president of product and data science, summarized the group’s conclusion:

“AI is identifying more billable conditions, not sicker patients.”

But the AI fight cuts both ways.

Healthcare industry reporting indicates that insurers are also deploying artificial intelligence to scrutinize medical charts and challenge claims.

McLaren Health Care’s chief financial officer recently said insurers use AI to scan records for claims they can deny while hospitals examine those same records to maximize reimbursement.

“All the insurers are using A.I. to scan our charts to look for claims to deny. For the same reason, we’re looking at the same charts today,” Dave Mazurkiewicz, the CFO of McLaren Health Care, told the NY Times.

That developing technological arms race has created a striking dynamic: hospitals can deploy algorithms to identify diagnoses that generate higher reimbursement, while insurers can use their own automated tools to challenge whether those claims should be paid.

Hedgie Markets summarized the controversy on X, arguing that patients ultimately bear the financial consequences through premiums and other healthcare costs.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis also weighed in, according to the statement provided for this report:

“Both Big Hospitals and Big Insurance are using AI tools to either seek more reimbursements or to deny more claims. The result: AI providers make a lot of money, individuals pay higher premiums and have more denials, and nobody gets healthier.”

BCBSA itself says its estimated $942 million increase ultimately puts upward pressure on premiums and out-of-pocket costs for families, employers and taxpayers.

A New York Times employee suffered a brutal death in a family-related incident over the weekend in California.

The New York Post reported on Monday that 40-year-old Jonathan McKinsey was allegedly killed by his Chinese in-laws in the parking lot of Dublin Sports Grounds in Dublin, California, around 3.p.m Saturday.

Witnesses revealed that they had seen two masked assailants approach McKinsey, who served as the Times’ head of engineering for games player experience, in the lot before his death. Then, the shooters identified as Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, who are both 77 years of age, took turns blasting bullets into McKinsey.

A passing cop later arrested them.

The Post reports that police patrolling the area noticed McKinsey with multiple gunshot wounds while emergency dispatch began receiving 911 calls.

First responders attempted to revive McKinsey upon arrival at the scene, but it was too late.

The Post reports that Zhang and Chen were booked into Alameda County’s Santa Rita Jail on suspicion of murder. McKinsey had been married to their daughter, Candice Jang.

Images allegedly showed the Chinese couple being taken into custody. Footage from the scene also showed a body lying in the parking lot in broad daylight.

Booking records obtained by the New York Post show that Zhang and Chen have been charged with several offenses related to McKinsey’s death.

These include first-degree murder, felony conspiracy, dangerously firing a gun, and child endangerment that could’ve caused major injury or death.

Police have not released a motive for the killing of McKinsey at this time.

McKinsey began working for The New York Times in 2023. Before heading up the Times’ games platform, McKinsey was an engineering manager at Splunk and had studied at UC Berkeley.

Zhang and Chen are being held in jail without the possibility of parole.

Their arraignment has been scheduled for Wednesday.
