The Smithsonian Institution, particularly the National Museum of American History and related exhibits, has been accused of downplaying or negatively reframing aspects of American history in favor of a more critical, race- and social-justice-focused narrative.

Actor Kelsey Grammer recently appeared on the Planet Tyrus podcast and warned, “If you don’t know where you come from, you don’t know who you are.”

“If you don’t know who you are, you can be controlled.”

“It does start with our education system.”

“There’s a whole bunch of things that just have got to stop with our educational system, and we got to retool it. There’s no question.”

Grammer also criticized the belittling of America’s Founding Fathers as ‘old white men.’

“I mean, Thomas Jefferson was 33 when he wrote what is arguably the most important political document in the history of man.”

Watch:

The Smithsonian’s bias has been a topic of debate.

On Tuesday, during a House Oversight hearing, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) grilled Dr. Anthea Hartig, Director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, over the institution’s anti-white agenda and efforts to rewrite American history.

One component is the “mass action” toolkit being promoted that characterizes so many cultural manners and icons as white supremacy.

These include the nuclear family, celebrating holidays like Christmas, politeness, objectivity, and even Mickey Mouse.

The White House shared a 162-page report from the Domestic Policy Council,  “Saving America’s Story,” that accuses the National Museum of American History of “ideological capture” by a “radical, activist ideology.”

Further, it claims the museum erases or minimizes America’s heritage, downplays the Founders and positive milestones, emphasizes social justice themes, and treats the American story as a tool for division rather than shared national pride. The report was released on the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

In March 2025, President Trump issued the Executive Order “Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History” and ordered steps to counter what the administration described as a widespread effort to rewrite U.S. history by casting founding principles and achievements in a negative light (as inherently racist, sexist, or oppressive).

It specifically called out the Smithsonian for promoting “divisive, race-centered ideology.”

A specific exhibit that has been highly criticized is  “The Shape of Power: Stories of Race and American Sculpture” at the Smithsonian American Art Museum for statements that race has been used “to establish and maintain systems of power, privilege, and disenfranchisement,” and that sculpture promoted “scientific racism,” and that race is a social construct rather than a biological reality.

New York AG Leticia James Under Fire, City Spends Over $81,000 Per Homeless Person, Including Shelter Scandals
July 25, 2026

New York AG Leticia James came under fire by Republican candidate Saritha Komatireddy. She accused James of not holding homeless shelters in New York accountable for billions of dollars of taxpayer money wasted by these nonprofit organizations. This is happening even after numerous audits and investigations over many years.

A report in March by the New York State Comptroller revealed that the City of New York spent approximately $81,700 in fiscal year 2025 on homeless people who were not in shelters.

Since 2019, the spending has tripled, as the homeless population has gone up about 78 percent.

Komatireddy made the case that government spending has increased greatly, which has not helped the situation.

Fox News Reported:

New York attorney general candidate Saritha Komatireddy is accusing Letitia James of failing to hold New York’s nonprofit homeless shelter providers accountable despite years of audits, investigations and scandals involving billions of taxpayer dollars.

The criticism comes after a New York State Comptroller report in March found New York City spent roughly $81,700 per unsheltered homeless person in fiscal year 2025, with spending on street homelessness more than tripling since 2019 as the city’s homeless population climbed 78%.

Komatireddy described the situation as a crisis, arguing government spending has surged while outcomes have deteriorated.

“‘So, there really are questions about what has happened to that money and why that’s happening,’ Komatireddy told Fox News Digital. ‘The person who should be asking those questions, the person who should be investigating, is the attorney general.’” Fox News Reported.

Komatireddy’s criticism is after years of investigations by federal prosecutors, the New York State Comptroller, and the New York City Department of Investigation. With that came alleged kickbacks, fraud, little financial oversight, and large compensation packages for executives of homeless shelters that were funded by the city.

In 2024, the New York City Department of Investigation found that 51 city-funded homeless shelters lacked competitive bidding, unusually high salaries, and executives who were being paid around $1 million. The New York AG has the power to investigate non-profits for questionable transactions.

The State Comptroller’s audits found that numerous providers for the shelters had improperly spent millions of dollars.

Komatireddy said that every taxpayer-funded shelter should be audited.

Komatireddy also previously criticized New York AG James over poor oversight regarding the Medicare Fraud Control Unit in New York. Federal authorities had withheld funding, allegedly because AG James had not pursued fraud cases in a serious manner.

Naturally, the criticism was dismissed by Leticia James’ campaign.

HUGE WIN FOR AMERICANS: Federal Judge Strikes Down Illinois Laws Giving Illegal Aliens In-State Tuition, Financial Aid, and Scholarships — Deals Major Blow to Pritzker’s Sanctuary-State Agenda
July 25, 2026

A federal judge just delivered a crushing blow to Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and the state’s radical open-borders agenda.

U.S. District Judge David W. Dugan ruled Friday that multiple Illinois laws granting illegal aliens preferential access to in-state tuition, financial aid, and scholarship programs violate federal law and the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution.

The ruling marks a major victory for President Trump’s Justice Department, Illinois taxpayers, and American students forced to compete for limited educational resources while Springfield Democrats rolled out the red carpet for people living in the country illegally.

In his 27-page memorandum and order, Judge Dugan denied Illinois’ motion to dismiss the case and granted the federal government’s cross-motion for summary judgment in part.

The court declared the following provisions unconstitutional and invalid as applied to aliens who are not lawfully present in the United States:

  • Current in-state tuition provisions covering Illinois public universities
  • The Acevedo Act provision governing public community colleges
  • The Retention of Illinois Students and Equity Act, or RISE Act, including its 2025 amendments
  • The Illinois DREAM Act and its scholarship program

The judge permanently barred Illinois, Pritzker, Attorney General Kwame Raoul, state education agencies, and the named university and community-college boards from enforcing the challenged provisions for illegal aliens.

“Put simply, U.S. citizens or nationals must be treated no worse than illegal aliens,” Judge Dugan wrote.

That basic principle was apparently too much for Pritzker and Illinois Democrats.

Federal law, specifically 8 U.S.C. § 1623(a), prohibits states from granting postsecondary education benefits to illegal aliens based on state residence unless the same benefits are also available to every American citizen, regardless of where that citizen lives.

Illinois offered reduced tuition and other benefits to illegal aliens with ties to the state while denying those same benefits to American citizens living in other states.

The Trump Justice Department sued Illinois in September 2025, arguing that the state’s scheme treated American citizens like second-class citizens and directly conflicted with federal immigration law.

Illinois officials attempted to defend the laws under the Tenth Amendment’s anti-commandeering doctrine, claiming the federal government could not dictate how the state administered its educational programs.

Judge Dugan rejected that argument.

The court explained that Congress was not ordering Illinois officials to administer a federal program. Instead, federal law simply prohibits states from favoring illegal aliens over American citizens when distributing residence-based postsecondary education benefits.

Illinois has two choices: extend the same tuition and financial-aid benefits to American citizens nationwide or stop providing those benefits to illegal aliens.

What Pritzker cannot do is place illegal aliens ahead of Americans.

“Illinois sought to incentivize illegal immigration on the taxpayer’s dime by treating illegal aliens better than U.S. citizens living in other states,” U.S. Attorney Steven D. Weinhoeft said following the decision.

“This ruling enforces the statute Congress wrote and stops the State from putting illegal aliens ahead of American citizens,” he added in the Justice Department’s announcement.

Pritzker personally signed the original RISE Act in 2019. He later signed legislation expanding the program to make illegal-alien students eligible for state and locally funded scholarships, grants, stipends, tuition waivers, room-and-board assistance, and other benefits.

He also signed Senate Bill 461 in 2024, expanding eligibility for in-state tuition at Illinois public universities.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Pritzker’s 2025 expansion made illegal aliens eligible for even more state and local financial assistance beginning January 1, 2026.

While American families struggled with soaring tuition, taxes, and living expenses, Pritzker and Illinois Democrats were working overtime to make taxpayer-supported college benefits available to foreigners living in the country illegally.

The Illinois DREAM Act was enacted under former Democrat Governor Pat Quinn in 2011 and established a privately funded scholarship program administered by the state-created Illinois DREAM Fund Commission.

The ruling’s injunction is temporarily stayed for 14 days, giving Illinois officials an opportunity to request a longer stay while they appeal the decision.

Judge Dugan refused Illinois’ request to delay enforcement merely because illegal-alien students had already structured their financial plans around the unlawful benefits.

The court wrote that it would not assume a policymaking role by allowing Illinois to continue violating federal law.

There is one important limitation: the ruling does not address House Bill 5093, another Pritzker-signed tuition law scheduled to govern beginning with the 2027–2028 academic year. Because that statute was not yet operative and was not added to the federal government’s complaint, the court said its legality remains “a question for another day.”

For now, however, the message to Pritzker and the sanctuary-state radicals in Springfield could not be clearer:

American citizens cannot be pushed to the back of the line in their own country.

Protesters demand that Zelensky (left) reappoint Fedorov (right) as Defense Minister – Screengrab Social Media/X

The firing of Commander-in-Chief Syrsky hasn’t quelled the large protests.

We have been reporting here on TGP about the reshuffle that Kiev regime leader Volodymyr Zelensky has implemented in his government, after the US ambassador resigned under suspicion of corruption, as you can read in Zelensky’s Latest Government Reshuffle Was Triggered by New Incoming Corruption Scandal – Ukrainian Ambassador to the US Olga Stefanishyna Will Reportedly Be Charged.

During the shakeup, Zelensky committed an unforced error that is costing him dearly.

Because he could not get top General Oleksandr Syrsky and Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, ‘Vova’ decided to sack the young minister, as you can read in Zelensky Fires ‘Reformist’ Defense Minister Fedorov, and Now There’s Reported Turmoil in the Ukrainian Military.

Large protests followed: Second Day of Protests in Kiev After Zelensky Dismisses Defense Minister Fedorov – Demonstrators Demand Firing of Top General Syrsky (VIDEOS).

Zelensky, under pressure, ended up firing Syrsky – so that should be the end of it, right?

Wrong.

The fallout from Fedorov’s firing continues to reverberate all over the country.

BBC reported:

“Fedorov’s mostly young supporters are still mounting daily street protests, demanding that Zelensky reinstate the popular young innovator widely credited with driving much of Ukraine’s recent technological innovation.

On Thursday, Fedorov said he had rejected Zelensky’s offers of alternative posts in government, saying there were only three positions worth having to influence the course of the war: minister of defense, commander-in-chief of the military or president of Ukraine. ‘If you don’t have a ministry under you, you don’t have a budget’, ex-deputy defense minister Alina Frolova said, ‘and you don’t actually have the authority to do something’.”

Fedorov making a reference to the presidency may be a sign that he sees himself as a rival to Zelensky.

“Ironically, for a president whose youth and apparent dynamism propelled him to power in 2019, Zelensky seems to have misjudged the mood of young Ukrainians, eager for their leaders – political and military – to represent their values and aspirations.

‘It’s quite natural that people want to see someone who is a warrior against corruption, who is very modern, who is young,” Oleksandr Merezhko, an MP from Zelensky’s Servant of the People party, said.”
