Meghan Markle’s father was arrested in Florida for possession of child porn.

Last month it was reported that the FBI was investigating Meghan Markle’s estranged father for alleged disturbing child sex abuse images on his computer.

The Sun was the first to report that Markle’s father, Thomas Markle Senior was reported to authorities in Cebu, Philippines about the disturbing images.

Thomas Markle Sr’s son Thomas Markle Jr., reported the images to authorities.

Meghan Markle released a statement on the allegations last month.

“I am deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours, and my thoughts are with any children who may have been harmed,” Meghan Markle said, The Sun reported.

Thomas Markle last month called the allegations ‘sick lies.’

Thomas Markle, the father of Prince Harry’s wife Meghan, was arrested Friday morning by federal agents in Florida on charges related to child sexual abuse material, people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press.

The people who confirmed his arrest were not authorized to publicly discuss the investigation and spoke on the condition of anonymity. Thomas Markle was taken into custody near Tampa.

Meghan Markle recently said she was “deeply distressed” by allegations that a collection of child sexual abuse images had been found at her father’s former home. She also revealed that a letter containing “troubling allegations” about him had been sent to London police in 2018.

“Thomas Wayne Markle, 82, of Lakeland, Florida, was arrested today on a federal criminal complaint filed in our district that charges him with possession of child pornography, a felony that carries a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison,” First Assistant US Attorney Bill Essayli said.

“An affidavit filed with the complaint details that @FBI was notified that Markle possessed child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and rented two storage units in the Los Angeles area. After obtaining a judicially approved warrant, @FBILosAngeles special agents searched the units and seized approximately 78 items, including slides, film negatives, and books that contained suspected CSAM,” Essayli said.

“Three of the images described in the affidavit featured Markle and minor victims,” Essayli added.
