CBS ‘News’ got absolutely destroyed online after using a very poor choice of words to describe the worst riots in the history of France.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, the Islamo-Marxist riots in France have completely exploded after weeks of mayhem and are threatening President Emmanuel Macron’s home.

Thousands of violent protesters on Saturday overturned cars, set buildings ablaze, and attacked police across the country. One of the most historic structures in the entire country, the 143-year-old Limoges town hall, has now burned to the ground as the police continued to sit on their hands.

Rioters were also on the verge of reaching Macron’s palace. Just imagine the horror if it were set on fire as well.

CBS, however, considered the torching of an entire country by Muslims and communists a mere “scuffle.”

Yes, the outlet really tweeted that word.

While CBS later deleted the tweet, it came far too late. X users were livid over the choice of words.

Many compared the post to CNN’s infamous “fiery but mostly peaceful protests” chyron during the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots.

The protests that started in France have spread to Italy, Albania and other countries as more groups have joined. Organizers have called for continued action through the end of the month.

 

The student unrest that began in France has crossed into Italy and Albania. In France, more than 6,500 people, most of them minors, had been arrested by October 7. In Belgium, rioters destroyed buses and fought police in Brussels. Now protesters in Milan and Tirana are throwing stones at police under the same banner of education and the cost of living.

Italy’s wave began on October 5, when students occupied high schools in Turin and Rome under the slogan “Let’s do as in France.” By October 15, dozens of schools were occupied from Milan to Naples. In Turin, about 40 masked youths raided three schools, and a 17-year-old was arrested after a carabiniere was injured. Torino Cronaca reported that a 20-year-old detained in Turin belonged to “Seconda generazione,” a collective whose members describe themselves as born and raised in Italy to migrant parents. It also reported that a minor arrested by carabinieri was not a student.

During the national “No Meloni Day” strike on October 16, the left-wing collective Osa claimed 400,000 students marched nationwide. In Turin, protesters threw stones and bottles at police. The Questura reported three minors arrested for aggravated resistance, two of them carrying pepper spray and one carrying stones, and said more than 50 protesters had been identified. In Rome, hooded protesters threw firecrackers and paper bombs at the Education Ministry, and high school students burned U.S. and Israeli flags. Investigators are examining the involvement of organized antagonists from outside the student movement who allegedly provoked the clashes. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni asked the opposition to condemn the violence.

On October 17, the violence reached the center of Milan. A cost-of-living march of about 5,000 participants, nearly all very young, turned into riots around Piazza del Duomo. Rioters threw stones, café tables and chairs at police, set a portable toilet on fire, and attacked and looted shops. Police used tear gas and water cannons and arrested 50 people. Il Giornale reported the rioters were not black bloc but kids from the city’s outskirts, some waving the Albanian flag in support of the uprising in Tirana. Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini called them cowards and criminals. In Bologna, police used a water cannon and made seven arrests. Local reports described the masked group that broke away toward the train station as “maranza,” Italian slang for street youths, often of migrant background.

In Albania itself, thousands of student-led protesters clashed with riot police in Tirana for a third consecutive day on October 15, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama. Protesters threw rocks and bricks, smashed windows and set fires, including a blaze at the Education Ministry. Police responded with tear gas and water cannons. Demonstrations spread to other cities, and parliament canceled its session as violence erupted nearby. State Police Director General Skënder Hita said 71 officers had been injured in 72 hours, including the Shkodra police chief, who was seriously hurt and is now stable. The Health Ministry reported 89 injured, including 61 police officers, in the October 14 riots alone. Police reported 65 arrests by that point. The protests continued for a fourth day on October 16.

The students have joined the broader Flamingo movement, which began in opposition to a luxury coastal development linked to Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump’s son-in-law. Reuters found no evidence of wrongdoing by Kushner. The protests have grown to include anger over alleged government corruption, education costs and poor job prospects. Rama told Reuters he would not resign and was ready to discuss education, adding that Albania is tackling corruption as never before and that he would not let violence derail its European future. On October 16, he blamed foreign hands, saying this was not a student phenomenon. The EU delegation in Tirana called for a proportionate response from authorities and described constructive dialogue as the only way forward.

The unrest has also reached Germany. On October 12, about 150 students barricaded the entrances of Berlin’s French Gymnasium with pallets and bicycle locks, and police pushed them back when they tried to block a third entrance. Police said they considered it a planned action, not a spontaneous one. On October 16, blockades spread to the Andreas Gymnasium and the Leibniz Gymnasium. According to police, about 50 students blocked the entrances at the Andreas Gymnasium, demanding more money for education and opposing military conscription. A second group of about 50 young people gathered behind the school, most of whom did not attend the school. The Tagesspiegel reported that left-wing activists from outside the school took part, some of them masked.

A 67-year-old resident was injured when she tried to stop youths from taking garbage bins from a waste area. Police detained a 17-year-old who was not a student at the school and opened investigations for breach of the peace, assault, attacks on officers and property damage. Berlin’s education senator criticized the protesters for instrumentalizing students. The German outlet NIUS reported that groups on social media are calling for nationwide riots on October 31.

The unrest is likely to expand. In Italy, Osa has announced it will join a general strike on October 30 and a European student strike on November 20.

A night meant to honor America’s fighting men and women turned into a nightmare Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio when a U.S. military service member lost control during a high-risk pregame rappel from the stadium rafters and plummeted onto the field before the UTSA Roadrunners hosted Navy.

The terrifying incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. local time on October 17, during UTSA’s annual “Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans” game, an event dedicated to recognizing America’s military personnel, veterans, and their families, TPR reported.

According to the San Antonio Express-News, four service members from Detachment 2 of the 6th Combat Training Squadron, an Air Force unit that trains tactical air control party (TACP) specialists at Joint Base San Antonio and Camp Bullis, were set to rappel down roughly 15 minutes before kickoff as part of UTSA’s annual Salute to Armed Forces and Veterans game.

About halfway down, one of the team members accelerated uncontrollably, sliding rapidly down the line before slamming into the turf near midfield.

Emergency medical personnel immediately rushed onto the field, where they attended to the service member for approximately 10 minutes before removing him on a stretcher.

The San Antonio Fire Department confirmed that one individual was transported to a nearby hospital as a Priority 1 patient, a classification generally reserved for patients requiring immediate medical attention.

Joe Arrington, a spokesperson for the San Antonio Fire Department, confirmed the hospitalization but said officials had no additional information about the service member’s condition.

The officer’s identity, the extent of his injuries, and the precise cause of the accident have not been publicly disclosed.

UTSA issued a statement: “We are deeply saddened by the incident that occurred at the start of tonight’s game. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the soldier who was affected, his family, and his military colleagues.”

The university also activated well-being services for students, faculty, and staff who may have been affected. Kickoff was delayed about 10 minutes before the game proceeded.

Video footage circulating on social media captured the terrifying descent.

Brand new polling from Arizona reveals a paradox that should alarm Democrats who believe they’re guaranteed a sweeping blue wave victory in the midterm elections. Grand Canyon State voters are frustrated with the economy, yet they’re far from thrilled with the Democrats as an alternative.

A League of American Workers survey of 1,513 likely Arizona voters, conducted by Wick, captures an electorate in a very sour mood, particularly over their economic outlook. A 44% plurality of voters say their personal finances have worsened over the past year with Republicans in full control in Washington, while just 17% report improvement. Among independents, the gap widens to 48% worse versus just 16% better.

In a conventional midterm, economic pain of that magnitude would automatically doom the party holding the White House and Congress.

But there are some data points that are positive for Republicans’ chances.

The follow-up question in the poll on personal finances shows one such lane. Asked whether their finances would be better or worse today had former Vice President Kamala Harris been president these past two years, Arizonans say worse by a 7-point margin, 45% to 38%. Meanwhile, the congressional Democrat brand remains firmly in the toilet, earning just 34% approval against 64% disapproval. And socialism, the animating creed of the party’s activist left-wing base, sits at a dismal 28% favorable and 61% unfavorable.

Moreover, while voters are angry over the cost of living and the war in Iran, they dislike the Democrat alternative even more.

The Arizona polling stands out in a second important way. President Trump’s job approval here registers 45% approve and 55% disapprove, a net -10%. While this gap is no cause for celebration, it is much better than my recent polling elsewhere, where the president sat at -22% in Minnesota and -15% in Wisconsin. Interestingly, Vice President JD Vance continues to poll well ahead of the president, at 45% approve and 51% disapprove, a divergence I’ve now seen across multiple states in recent polling.

How come Arizona is holding up better for President Trump?

One reason why is that Republicans are still better positioned on some key issues.

In terms of border enforcement, Arizona voters want state and local police to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement by 55% to 37%. In the poll, Democrats opposed that cooperation by a 49-point margin as the party’s candidates increasingly campaign on defunding or abolishing ICE outright, the federal law enforcement agency tasked with removing dangerous illegal aliens who poured across the border by the millions under the Biden-Harris administration. Additionally, 42% of Arizonans say recent mass migration has made their own communities worse, versus just 20% who say better. In a border state, citizens see the consequences of open-borders radicalism firsthand, and they are not looking to return to it.

Arizonans also reject the Democrats’ embrace of importing the Islamic world into our country. Asked whether “mass migration of Muslims is overall positive or negative for American society,” 49% say negative, including 38% who say very negative, while just 16% call it positive; independents agree, breaking negative by 30 points. As my recent documentary on Dearborn, Michigan showed, communities that import large populations from the Third World invite anti-American sentiments to take root, and Arizonans clearly want leaders with the courage to put American culture, values, and citizens first.

On education, when told that only one in four Arizona eighth graders reads proficiently, 78% of voters say taxpayers receive a poor return on their investment in public education. The remedy also polls well: Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Accounts, the nation’s leading school choice program, earn a 44% favorable rating against 28% unfavorable. Republicans who champion parents over the teachers unions hold a clear advantage here.

So why, then, does Democrat Governor Katie Hobbs lead Republican Congressman Andy Biggs 48.9% to 43.2%?

The answer lies mainly in incumbency, not in any strong affection for Democrat governance. Sitting governors are notoriously tough to defeat. Between 2020 and 2023, 39 of the 40 who sought reelection won. Hobbs’s personal favorability splits evenly, at 47.1% favorable and 47.8% unfavorable, running far ahead of her party’s congressional brand, which sits 30 points underwater. And recall that she first won in 2022 by the skin of her teeth, less than a point, in an election marred by controversy.

Still, Hobbs has real political liabilities that Biggs and Republicans can and must exploit if they hope to have any chance of an upset victory. For example, when voters learn that Hobbs vetoed commonsense legislation banning sex-change procedures for minors, 45% say they are less likely to support her, versus 28% more likely. Among independents, the reaction runs 24 points against Hobbs. Voters understandably want children protected from these dangerous, cruel, irreversible procedures that Democrats insist on promoting.

Independents will likely decide this race as they always do in Arizona. They currently favor Hobbs 48.7% to 36.0%, yet they side with Republicans on police cooperation with ICE, on migration’s impact on their communities, and on socialism. The issues favor the GOP.

Most importantly though, Republicans must ruthlessly expose the Democrats’ radical positions and make this race a clear choice about what kind of state and country Arizonans want to live in. That means prosecuting the case against Hobbs’s veto, drawing a sharp contrast on border enforcement, promoting excellence in education vs. a failing public school status quo, and reminding voters that while this economy has plenty of room for improvement, the Democrat agenda would absolutely crush them.

Arizonans are angry about their finances but they’re not running back to the Left. Republicans have openings, and they must spend every day until November 3 seizing it.

An incident at Canadian Forces Base Wainwright in Alberta on Saturday sparked a major fire that spread beyond the base in high winds, and Defense Minister David McGuinty confirmed fatalities and injuries among military personnel.

Officials were tight-lipped about details, but McGuinty said he was “saddened to share that there have been both fatalities and injuries as a result of an incident on the base.”

The defense minister described the situation as “very, very active and delicate,” according to an Associated Press report.

McGuinty did not provide numbers of people killed or information about the cause.

The RCMP said officers were called shortly after 4 p.m. after reports of a fire in a training area.

Reports described an explosion followed by the fire.

The Canadian Armed Forces, along with federal, provincial, and local crews, coordinated the response.

Wainwright provided hospital and firefighting support.

An Edmonton hospital went on code orange for a mass-casualty event.

An X user, @CrashMetaX, who was posting videos from the scene, wrote:

The Municipal District of Wainwright reported that the fire crossed the base’s perimeter fence and spread rapidly due to high winds.

Firefighters from multiple jurisdictions responded.

Prime Minister Mark Carney posted that a “serious incident creating a major fire has occurred at CFB Wainwright” and that “our thoughts are with all the brave women and men affected.”

Carney said the federal government was working closely with Alberta officials and local authorities, and that he and Premier Danielle Smith were in close contact.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe said his province was sending assistance.

Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre said he had spoken with Carney and McGuinty to offer support and posted, “Pray for Wainwright, everyone.”

AP reports, “Canadian Forces Base Wainwright, about 180 kilometers (112 miles) southeast of Edmonton, is one of Canada’s busiest military training bases, where soldiers prepare for combat operations. It is home to the Canadian Manoeuvre Training Centre, which conducts realistic battlefield exercises, and the 3rd Canadian Division Training Centre, which provides military training.”

Far left Texas Democrat James Talarico recently went completely missing, vanishing from the campaign trail for almost two weeks. The only explanation that was ever given was that he was suffering from the flu.

Despite this, Talarico boasted to a crowd this week about doing a town hall event on CNN, which was little more than a campaign infomercial, and said that when a person is running for office, they have to ‘show up’ for the interview.

Democrats do stuff like this because they have absolutely no fear that anyone in the media will call them out for it.

James Talarico is out here delivering a sermon on the sacred duty of “showing up for the job interview” as U.S. senator—complete with a rally video scolding Ken Paxton for partying in London on the Fourth of July and Dubai with alleged fugitives while dodging debate stages — yet the same guy who just vanished from the campaign trail for nearly two weeks with a suspiciously persistent “flu” that had Paxton’s team and half the internet circulating missing-person posters and demanding proof of life.

The Presbyterian seminarian who spent his time off the trail apparently too contagious (or too something) to face Texas voters now wants credit for attending a friendly CNN town hall, as if that erases the disappearing act right before early voting. Nice try, preacher boy; maybe preach that “show up” gospel to the mirror before you start pointing fingers at Paxton’s travel itinerary.

The Dallas Democrats are also pushing this laughable talking point.
