DHS Chief Markwayne Mullin went off on CBS’s Margaret during an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation” for attacking ICE agents who pursued and shot a criminal alien in New York City.

Instead of blaming the illegal alien for endangering his own child, Margaret Brennan blamed ICE agents.

Protests erupted in the Bronx on Thursday evening after an ICE agent shot and wounded an illegal alien from the Dominican Republic in Marble Hill.

Video posted to social media shows anti-ICE activists blocking federal vehicles and confronting ICE agents after the officer-involved shooting.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed an ICE agent shot the criminal alien gang member identified as Oscar Belgal.

“On October 8, at approximately 4:00 PM ET, ICE officers were conducting a targeted enforcement operation in the Bronx, New York, to arrest a criminal illegal alien from the Dominican Republic with a prior criminal conviction for grand larceny, and multiple prior arrests for assault, robbery, possession of drugs, and weapons possession. He has associations to the Trinitarios gang, the same gang who brutally shot a CBP officer last year,” DHS said.

“This criminal illegal alien was arrested by the NYPD on December 7, 2023, but was released into the community a few days later by reckless Democrat sanctuary policies that put American lives at risk,” they said.

Oscar Belgal’s five-year-old child was in the car at the time of the ICE-involved shooting.

Margaret Brennan blamed the ICE agents even though Oscar Belgal accelerated his vehicle and rammed two vehicles before targeting officers.

“How come those officers didn’t notice that a child was put in that car?” Margaret Brennan asked Mullin.

Mullin went off on Margaret Brennan.

“You know who did know the kid was in the vehicle? Oscar! As a father of six kids, no way I ever put my kids in danger,” Mullin said.

“I would’ve gotten out of my vehicle to protect my child. No way I would’ve been selfish enough. He absolutely was selfish enough to put his child in danger! He’s the one who decided to accelerate towards officers. That tells you the type of character Oscar is!” Mullin said.

In the latest example of colleges being a breeding ground for leftist indoctrination, Campus Reform is reporting “several colleges are choosing to observe ‘Indigenous Peoples’ Day’ instead.”

Columbus Day is the national holiday that the left prefers to stir up trouble wherever they can and cause division.

President Joe Biden declared  “Indigenous Peoples’ Day” a national holiday last year, stating: “NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim October 11, 2021, as Indigenous Peoples’ Day.  I call upon the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

The schools choosing not to celebrate Columbus Day include Colorado State University, which ” invited Native American Rights Fund attorney Beth Wright to keynote its Indigenous Peoples Day event. It is hosted by the Native American Cultural Center and RamEvents.”

In addition Dartmouth a once prestigious school will be foregoing celebrating Columbus Day in favor of celebrating this new holiday going as far to proclaim “We’re challenging people to think about their assumptions about Christopher Columbus and about this nation in general—challenging them to question their American identity in a way that recognizes who we are as Indigenous people and who we’ve become, despite all the challenges that we’ve faced,” student Ahnili Johnson-Jennings said in a Dartmouth article.”

Other schools choosing the Biden-invented holiday over Columbus Day include Mid Michigan College and the University of St. Thomas.

In addition, Lake Forest College “will host three events on Monday in honor of indigenous people.”

Instead of showing respect to a traditional American holiday, the schools are once again showing they put left-wing ideology and DEI before an actual patriotic education.

Patriotism at these schools seems to be viewed as a vice.

One can assume other schools will follow the lead and opt out of Columbus Day in favor of a Biden-created holiday.

Any opportunity for the Cultural Marxist Left to divide America, they eagerly galvanize.

While we respect Native Americans and their history, hijacking American history and ruining an important day for Americans is not the way to show respect.

One would have hoped by now DEI and its remnants would have been purged from the universities, but that is clearly far from the case.

Marxists seek to undermine America and hijack every American celebration in favor of alternative agendas.

Former conservative influencer Ashley St. Clair, who famously had a public spat with SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk over their child together, said that she is an official “dues-paying member” of the Democratic Socialists of America in an interview this week. 

Elon Musk this morning clarified on X, “Ashley St Clair was not my girlfriend. We only saw each other a few times.”

St. Clair revealed that she had a baby with Musk last year and claimed that he was an absent father who offered her millions to keep the baby a secret. It was also alleged that St. Clair’s pregnancy was a “baby trap,” and in leaked text messages, St. Clair allegedly said, “I need his rocket babies” and sought to “secuce Elon, and get in a rocket.”

The two publicly clashed over allegations of child support cuts and the alleged hush-money offering.

Now, she's somehow gone from being a conservative influencer to becoming a Democratic Socialist.

In an interview last week with CNN's Donie O'Sullivan, St. Clair opened up about her journey of walking away from the Trump political movement to join the Democratic Socialists of America, and about her life post-Elon Musk.

Musk previously sought full custody of the pair's child after she came out in support of transgenderism, writing in an apologetic social media post that she had been "trying incredibly hard privately to learn + advocate for those within the trans community that I’ve hurt."

St. Clair previously published a 2022 children's book called “Elephants Are Not Birds,” mocking the transgender agenda being pushed on children, for which she now repents.

During her CNN spotlight, she revealed that she is now a "dues-paying member of DSA," jokingly comparing herself to "one of the communists."

She said she joined "a little bit ago."

When O'Sullivan quipped, "you're a dangerous leftist radical," she responded by singing the old Italian anti-Fascist folk song, "Bella Ciao," a rallying cry used by Antifa.

She further opened up on her departure and regrets from being a part of the "MAGAverse," agreeing that she previously authored an "anti-trans book."

"I think being unempathetic. I think projecting my own brokenness onto other people," she said of her biggest regrets from portraying herself as a right-winger.

"I think I'm always going to feel guilt about my own role in pushing rhetoric about things I didn't know anything about."

"I just saw a headline that came up on my phone recently about the hospitals that cut deals with the Trump administration to end gender affirming care, and I, like even though I know that's not my fault, like I felt guilt for any role I played in pushing narratives that have led to these consequences," she continued.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin was on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream to talk about ICE operations.

Secretary Mullin explained that his agency is simply enforcing the laws that Congress made. Leftist sanctuary politicians have been critical of ICE operations, yet they ignore the victims, including law enforcement officers that have repeatedly been attacked.

A news clip was shown of New York Governor Kathy Hochul criticizing ICE for shooting into a vehicle, even though an illegal alien was endangering the lives of the law enforcement officers who were pursuing him.

“Let’s start with that case, Oscar Belgal, the shooting on Thursday. Here is how Governor Kathy Hochul, there in New York, describes what happened,” Bream said.

“She says she asked you to issue an order that agents not fire into cars. What’s the policy? Will we see bodycam or other footage that may be available?” Bream asked.

“Let me back up on this. When the Governor, the Mayor, all these career, sanctuary politicians, not one of them said anything when their own, the NYPD officer, that was also stabbed seven times in this same neighborhood, in the Bronx, just last week. They were completely silent,” Mullin said.

Mullin explained that immigration detainers were ignored. He also exposed the hypocrisy of these leftist politicians by pointing out that when law enforcement officers are attacked, there is no attention brought to them.

“All of them we had detainers on and asked them to be sent over to us instead of released back on the streets. And when an NYPD officer got stabbed, no one did a press conference, no one was outside protesting. No one said a word,” Mullin continued.

Mullin explained the extent of the illegal alien’s criminal record. Oscar Belgal was only in the country for three years and had a lengthy criminal record.

“When Oscar, an individual that had evaded us last month, has an extensive criminal background. Let me just read it. Has four charges for felony robbery, two charges for assault, felony larceny, misdemeanor assault, weapons possession larceny, possession with stolen property, and two felony charges for drugs. Plus, a strong gang affiliation,” Mullin said.

“They are out there protesting for this guy, and he’s only been in the country for three years, and he has this extensive background, and they were all three released by the Biden administration,” Mullin said.

“It’s absolutely hypocrisy, and ridiculous that they are out here trying to make something big about this,” Mullin continued.

“We don’t make the laws. We simply enforce the laws. We don’t pick and choose, but we are out there every single day trying to keep criminals off our streets that sanctuary states and sanctuary cities release,” Mullin said.

In what can only be described as inevitable, according to a Campus Reform report, “A record-low share of Americans say a college education is ‘very important”

We have reported extensively at The Gateway Pundit on the many documented bias incidents and biased professors on campus. Now, people are coming to the inevitable conclusion that college is a waste.

“A recent Gallup poll found that 31% of U.S. adults now view college as “very important,” which is down from 70% in 2013 and below the 36% Gallup recorded when it first asked the question in 1978.”

Costly schools that indoctrinate instead of educate should not expect to be popular or sought after.

“The decline spans across major demographic groups. Gallup noted that there have been double-digit declines in the percentage of women, Democrats, people of color, and college graduates who view college as “very important.”

Barely anyone holds colleges in esteem anymore.

“The decline comes as higher education faces scrutiny over tuition rates, political agendas, grade inflation, artificial intelligence, and whether colleges are adequately preparing students for the modern workforce.”

“A separate Gallup analysis found that Americans who lack confidence in higher education most often cited political agendas, cost, and poor workforce preparation.”

Lindsie Rank, Director of Campus Rights Advocacy at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression, told Campus Reform that colleges have traditionally been viewed as places where students learn to listen, think, and speak. “But attacks on student speech and academic freedom rights mean students aren’t always coming away with those lessons,” Rank said.

“Rank added that colleges could help rebuild trust by “eradicating censorial policies and practices” and “teaching students the value and discipline of civic discourse.”

This statement is questionable, however, in light of the long-term damage that has been done to the reputations of colleges.

As “Higher Education Policy Advisor at Third Way Colin Kerr told Campus Reform that “there is a growing concern of a misalignment between what college costs and what it delivers in the labor market.”

Most likely, more and more people will opt out of the costly and un-American atmosphere that exists on many college campuses well into the future.

College has become a breeding ground for left-wing and Marxist indoctrination. More and more Americans will choose to forgo this altogether.
