On Tuesday, President Trump revealed his “number one choice” to succeed Pope Francis as Pope of the Catholic Church.

“I’d like to be Pope. That’d be my number one choice,” the President said jokingly before revealing that he really has “no preference.”

He did, however, say that he likes the Cardinal from New York, Timothy Michael Dolan, whom he described as “very good.”

Reporter: Who would you want to see as Pope?

Trump: As pope? I’d like to be Pope. That’d be my number one choice. No, I don’t know. I have no preference.

I must say, we have a Cardinal that happens to be out of a place called New York, who’s very good. So, we’ll see what happens.

Cardinal Dolan has been openly supportive of the President, saying in a December interview that Trump “takes his Christian faith seriously.” He added, “I think the assassination attempts kind of renewed in him, ‘There’s something beyond me that I think is watching over me, and it’s got a task for me.’ And what he expresses personally seems to be expressed more and more throughout the world. And that’s part of America.”

He also criticized Obama repeatedly and accused him of wanting to divide the Catholic Church.

The “conclave,” the process where 135 Cardinals under age 80 will vote in secret to elect a new Pope, is expected to begin next Wednesday.

After a papacy marked by progressive shifts and controversial reforms, conservative Catholics are praying for a return to doctrinal clarity and traditional values.

The Gateway Pundit reported on the leading contenders to succeed Francis as MAGA Catholics hope to move on from the Pope’s liberal pro-LGBTQ legacy.

Wisconsin Supreme Court Temporarily Suspends Judge Hannah Dugan’s Judicial Powers After Helping Illegal Immigrant Evade Arrest
April 29, 2025

The Wisconsin Supreme Court has taken the extraordinary step of temporarily suspending Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan from the bench after she was arrested and charged with two federal crimes for helping an illegal immigrant avoid arrest by federal immigration agents.

According to the federal indictment, Judge Dugan illegally escorted Eduardo Flores-Ruiz and his taxpayer-funded public defender through a side door in her courtroom after learning ICE agents were waiting in the hallway to arrest him following a court appearance on April 18.

This blatant attempt to subvert justice was thwarted when federal agents apprehended Flores-Ruiz after a brief foot chase outside the Milwaukee County Courthouse.

On April 25, Judge Dugan was arrested by the FBI inside the courthouse in full view of staff and attorneys. She made a brief initial appearance in federal court before being released pending trial.

FBI Director Kash Patel posted a photo of the arrest of Wisconsin Judge Hannah Dugan by FBI agents for helping an illegal alien with a domestic violence case in her courtroom evade arrest by ICE agents.

Patel captioned the photo, “No one is above the law.”

Judge Dugan faces two federal counts:

  • One felony count of obstructing a U.S. agency
  • One misdemeanor count of harboring or concealing an alien to prevent arrest

If convicted, she faces up to six years in federal prison and $350,000 in fines.

In response to the serious criminal charges, the Wisconsin Supreme Court issued a scathing two-paragraph order stating Judge Dugan is suspended from all judicial duties effective April 29, citing the need to maintain public trust in the integrity of the judiciary.

“In the exercise of that constitutional authority and in order to uphold the public confidence in the court of this state during the pendency of the criminal proceeding against Judge Dugan, we conclude on our own motion that it is the public interest that she be temporarily be relieved of her official duty,” said the two-paragraph order on Tuesday.

Milwaukee’s Chief Judge Carl Ashley announced her docket will be reassigned to a reserve judge, effectively stripping Dugan of any authority while the case proceeds.

Rep. Abe Hamadeh (R-AZ) Introduces Legislation to BAN Ranked Choice Voting in Federal Elections

Rep. Abe Hamadeh and Rep. Nick Begich (R-AK) have introduced an election integrity bill in the House of Representatives to prohibit ranked choice voting in federal elections.

Hamadeh’s Preventing Ranked Choice Corruption Act seeks to amend the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) to end “the confusing and disenfranchising voting scheme of Ranked Choice Voting,” a press release from Hamadeh’s office states.

The undemocratic scam of Ranked Choice Voting goes against the principle of “one person, one vote,” allowing voters to rank candidates in order of preference and triggering an automatic runoff election based on the ranked totals if a candidate does not receive a majority of first-choice votes.

Several states, including Arizona, have seen attempts to implement the system and destroy fair elections.

“The same Democrat pawns who support allowing non-citizen voting without voter ID and same day voter registration also want to turn our democracy into a rank choice voting scheme,” Hamadeh said in a statement announcing his bill.

“Their motives are clear – they do not want to help Americans vote – they only want to help corrupt politicians win.”

“The nation does not need more uncertainty and confusion injected into the federal election process,” said Rep. Begich. “’One person, one vote’ is a proven tried-and-true method that is easy to understand, easy to audit, and quick to report. Experiments with our national election systems risk disenfranchisement of voters and lead to outcomes that do not represent the true will of the American people.”

This was a campaign promise that Hamadeh ran on. As The Gateway Pundit exclusively reported, Hamadeh released his five-point plan for election integrity last April. He also announced plans to advocate for voter ID requirements for federal elections, withholding federal funding from cities that allow non-citizens to vote, strict penalties for election fraud, and banning corporate and nonprofit funding in elections.

Hamadeh has already introduced other election integrity bills, including one requiring states to print federal election ballots in English only, in accordance with President Trump's executive order designating English as the official language of the United States.

Another bill Hamadeh introduced will codify President Trump’s Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections executive order, which has faced lawfare from Democratic state Attorneys General and far-left nonprofit groups, such as the Campaign Legal Center and the State Democracy Defenders Fund. As The Gateway Pundit reported, radical Clinton Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly partially blocked Trump’s executive order, including the proof of citizenship requirement.

Abe Hamadeh called his bill "another promise kept" on X earlier:

As The Gateway Pundit readers recall, Abe Hamadeh’s race for Arizona Attorney General in 2022 was stolen by just 280 votes after 60% of voting machines in Maricopa County failed due to intentional voter suppression that targeted Republicans on election day. Additionally, thousands of ballots were not counted due to wrongfully canceled voter registrations and ballot misreads across the state of Arizona.

A federal appeals court on Monday temporarily blocked President Trump’s mass firings at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

The court battle over Trump’s move to dismantle the agency began in March when Judge Amy Berman Jackson barred the Trump Administration from firing CFPB workers without cause.’

“Defendants shall not terminate any CFPB employee, except for cause related to the individual employee’s performance or conduct; and defendants shall not issue any notice of reduction-in-force to any CFPB employee,” Judge Jackson wrote.

Shortly after the DC Circuit Court of Appeals greenlighted the layoffs earlier this month, US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an Obama appointee, overstepped the appeals court’s stay and blocked the Trump Administration from laying off 90% of the CFPB. She said the layoffs violate her order.

The case bounced back to the DC Circuit Court of Appeals, and on Monday, a three-judge panel temporarily barred Trump from the mass firings.

The three-judge panel voted 2-1 to partially lift a previous order that greenlighted Trump’s mass firings.

The majority: Pillard (Obama), Katsas (Trump), and Rao (Trump) dissented.

Judge Rao, the Trump appointee, issued a scathing dissent.

Rao blasted Judge Amy Berman Jackson and said her approach “turns the separation of powers on its head.”

“The district court overstepped our stay. Rather than remedy the judicial error, today’s order hamstrings the Executive and prevents the CFPB from downsizing until the merits of the appeal are resolved. The lack of judicially manageable standards in this posture is a reason to leave execution of the laws to the Executive, not the courts. I respectfully dissent,” Judge Rao wrote.

Judge Rao went off on Amy Berman Jackson and said the execution of laws including the management of administrative agencies is committed to Executive Branch officials under the direction of the President.

“The district court’s approach turns the separation of powers on its head. The execution of the laws, including the management of administrative agencies, is committed to Executive Branch officials under the direction of the President. See U.S. CONST. art. II, § 3 (requiring the President to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed”). When agency action is challenged, courts have an essential obligation to say what the law is. But whatever the merits of this underlying lawsuit, the district court cannot erase the boundaries between the courts and the Executive by setting up a temporary judicial receivership of the CFPB. As the Supreme Court has admonished, “it is not the role of courts, but that of the political branches, to shape the institutions of government in such fashion as to comply with the laws and the Constitution.” Lewis v. Casey, 518 U.S. 343, 349 (1996); see also Dan Dobbs, Law of Remedies § 2.9(5) (2d ed. 1993) (“[J]udicial control of legislative or executive branch decisions interferes substantially with the separation of powers system of government. If the judicial interference is substantial, judges themselves may lose their distinctive judicial character if they become managers of executive departments by way of injunction.”).” Judge Rao wrote.
