People flock from all over the world to see the ‘perfect cone shape’ of Mount Fuji, one of Japan’s most popular attractions.

But now, a Chinese university student who insisted on climbing Mount Fuji outside of the official climbing season was rescued not once, but twice in four days, after he returned to look for his mobile phone.

BBC reported:

“The Chinese student, who lives in Japan, was first rescued by helicopter on Tuesday while on the Fujinomiya trail, which sits about 3,000m (9,800ft) above sea level.”

The student lost his crampons – a spiked device that is attached to the bottom of climbing shoes – and had to be rescued by helicopter.

“But days later, he returned to the mountain to retrieve belongings that he left behind, including his phone. He was rescued again on Saturday after suffering from altitude sickness but is now out of danger.”

It’s dangerous to climb the Fuji outside of the official climbing season from July to September. All trails to the mount’s summit are closed at this time, according to the authorities.

After his two rescues, the student became ‘the target of online ridicule and anger’.

South China Morning Post reported:

“The student’s actions were condemned by Ken Noguchi, a renown alpinist, who said on his X account: ‘The rescue team saved this man’s life, but his mentality is beyond salvation. It’s just too foolish’. The emergency teams should insist that the man pay the costs associated with the two rescues, he added.

Others pointed to a popular Japanese saying that a man who climbs Mount Fuji once is wise, while one who tries it twice is a fool.

Many others have also demanded that the man pay the costs of his rescue. One social media user said: ‘The rescue teams are also risking their lives to help him, so it is only natural that he should be charged for the cost of the rescue. I believe the local government should enact an ordinance to make climbing Mount Fuji illegal when it is officially closed to hikers’.”

President Trump walked out to a raging crowd at his second post-inauguration rally in Warren, Michigan on Tuesday to commemorate his first 100 days in office.

The massive crowd went wild as he walked out to a stage lined with banners that read “THE GOLDEN AGE.” Trump was unable to begin his speech as the crowd began chanting, “USA, USA, USA!”

President Trump opened the rally with a nod to the Michigan auto workers, announcing that the car manufacturers are coming back to Michigan and crediting his tax and tariff policy. “They’re coming from all over the world. They’re coming up, and they’re opening up plants, and they’re talking to us all day and all night. They want to get here, and they’re coming in at levels you’ve never seen before,” the President said. “And I want to thank the auto workers for your support. That was great,” he continued as the crowd roared with excitement.

He also declared that he won Michigan “three times” in defiance of the election-rigging Democrats.

The President declared that he had “the most successful first 100 days of any administration in the history of our country,” adding, “We’ve just gotten started. You haven’t even seen anything yet.” He then laid out his accomplishments, including a secure border, job growth, and restoring the rule of law,  which he said was “sort of out the window with this crazy guy we had.” He jabbed Biden, asking, “How the hell did that guy ever become president? Could somebody explain it to me? How the hell did that happen?”

“We’re ending the inflation nightmare, the worst that we’ve had probably in the history of our country, getting woke lunacy and transgender insanity the hell out of our government. We’re stopping the indoctrination of our children, slashing billions and billions of dollars of waste, fraud, and abuse, and above all, we’re saving the American dream. We’re making America great again, and it’s happening fast,” he continued.

Human Events Senior Editor Jack Posobiec was assaulted by Democrat union workers after he confronted Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin at Union Station on Tuesday.

Raskin was joined by union workers from the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers and the National Federation of Federal Employees to protest Trump.

The union workers protested President Trump and DOGE for cutting wasteful spending and trimming the fat at bloated federal agencies.

Posobiec confronted Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin before a group of union workers surrounded him and assaulted him.

“Jamie, why did you lose the popular vote? Why did you lose every single swing state?” Jack Posobiec shouted at the Maryland lawmaker referring to Kamala Harris’ crushing electoral loss in 2024.

Raskin pointed at Posobiec and unleashed the attack dogs.

President Trump told reporters before departing the White House on Tuesday that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos “did the right thing” and is a “good guy” amid a reversal on their plan to display tariff costs on their webpage. 

This came after Bezos received a call from the President.

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier, Amazon backtracked on a reported plan to display how much President Trump’s tariffs supposedly add to the price of each product on the website to avoid blame for any rising prices.

The denial came after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt moved the stock market with a scathing rebuke of Amazon and a call for Americans to buy American goods. “This is a hostile and political act by Amazon,” Leavitt said, attacking the retail giant for not doing this “when the Biden administration hiked inflation to the highest level in 40 years.” She then described the move as “not surprising,” highlighting Amazon’s new partnership with “a Chinese propaganda arm.”

The Gateway Pundit reported earlier that Amazon downplayed their plan, saying the consideration was only in place for the Amazon Haul store but not the main retail website. Now, Amazon says they “never approved” a plan, and it’s “not going to happen.”

A grinning selfie taken by German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder on the way to Pope Francis’ funeral has triggered widespread condemnation, fueling fresh criticism of Germany’s political elite for their uncouth disregard of decorum and Christian values.

The image, shared on social media by Steinmeier and Söder themselves, showed the two smiling broadly inside a government vehicle en route to the Vatican ceremony. The timing and tone of the post, as one might expect, drew immediate backlash from both conservative commentators and ordinary citizens, who accused the officials of turning a sacred event into a moment of personal vanity.

“Two of the nation’s top officials acting like schoolboys on a class trip—only the beer cans are missing,” remarked Frédéric Schwilden in Die Welt, one of Germany’s papers of record, calling it a “godless neglect of political culture.”

In stark contrast, representatives of the primary opposition party, the Alternative for Germany (AfD), who were also present in Rome, conducted themselves with a markedly different tone. Nicole Höchst, Member of the Bundestag, and Petr Bystron, Member of the European Parliament, attended the funeral as official representatives of the AfD. Both abstained from media theatrics, maintaining a quiet and reverent presence during the solemn ceremony.

“Pope Francis always stood up for the weak and marginalized,” said Höchst in a statement ahead of the funeral. “His legacy reminds us, as political representatives, to assume responsibility for social cohesion.”

Bystron, speaking from Rome, added: “Regardless of political differences, we honor Pope Francis as a voice of morality and conscience in an increasingly secularized world. With our participation, we wish to underline the enduring importance of the Catholic Church for Europe’s identity and the preservation of Christian values.”

The selfie incident is the latest in a series of perceived embarrassments involving Germany’s governing officials. Just days before the funeral, Berlin’s SPD Senator for Labor, Cansel Kiziltepe, stirred controversy by referring to Tesla vehicles as “Nazi cars” on social media, a remark widely condemned as trivializing the Holocaust. One user responded: “Those who make such comparisons degrade concentration camps to parking lots.”

Critics say these episodes reflect a deeper cultural malaise within Germany’s political establishment, one marked by an excess of vanity, disrespect for tradition, and a persistent double standard in how political behavior is judged.

While AfD, the boogieman for Germany’s globalist establishment, is frequently accused of failing to uphold proper conduct, it was the party’s own representatives who upheld a standard of dignity in Rome, while top officials from the ruling coalition drew criticism for unbecoming conduct.

Notably absent from the funeral was CDU leader Friedrich Merz, who has positioned himself as a future chancellor. His nonappearance drew attention as world leaders such as Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron used the occasion to engage in symbolic gestures of diplomacy and unity.

The absence was criticized by conservative economist and former Bundestag candidate Prof. Max Otte, who commented: “Angela Merkel, Robert Habeck, Annalena Baerbock, and Olaf Scholz have ruined Germany. Friedrich Merz will now likely become its insolvency administrator, liquidator, and asset manager.”

The episode in Rome that Söder and Steinmeier are surely anxious to put behind them has highlighted what many see as the widening gulf between the political class and the values of ordinary Germans. While establishment politicians take selfies and trade insults online, the AfD continues to position itself as the only serious political outfit in Germany and the voice of traditional values, national dignity, and Christian heritage.
