With the U.S. Senate voting to defund both the Public Broadcasting Service and National Public Radio, what losses will the American people suffer without tax dollars going towards two largely politicized networks that take their money only to push partisan narratives that favor Democrats?

According to Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy, not much.

Whatever arguments existed for the practical purpose of those networks — namely NPR for Roy’s case — the Texas congressman dispelled them in noting how useless it was during the devastating Texas floods that now have a death toll of 135.

On Thursday, Roy posted footage of himself to his social media platform X account, stating the effectiveness — or lack thereof — in Texas Public Radio taking an absurd 19 hours to post any warning or alert about the floods.

“There’s a lot of folks here, talking about and extolling the virtues of NPR, PBS, public broadcasting, so forth and talked about how cutting their funding is somehow going to endanger communities and rural communities,” Roy said in a hearing.

“Well, when the floods were hitting the people that I represent, it took NPR through Texas Public Radio 19 hours to post anything about the flooding on its social media. What was NPR and TPR doing in the interim?” Roy asked before telling the room that private stations were covering the disaster as it was clearly the top priority.

“They were playing a program, a D.C.-based program, lobbying congress for billions of dollars to continue their funding. When the flood hit at four in the morning, instead of providing local news,” Roy explained, a pre-taped “Morning Edition” from Washington D.C. was being played.

“They didn’t break in like the local stations did and so forth. The seven private stations posted over 70 alerts on their social pages throughout the day started at 7:24 in the morning.

“My point being, private stations in the communities in which I live were there for the people of Texas. They were there presenting the information necessary, and the public stations were completely MIA.”

This looks pretty bad for NPR and cuts the legs from underneath its argument that it provides a necessary service.

When a disaster like the one seen in Texas strikes, seconds matter.

Leftists can drone on about President Donald Trump‘s cuts to the federal workforce exacerbating the issue when it comes to the National Weather Service and so forth, but where were NPR and TPR?

They were apparently groveling for money rather than proving why they needed it.

Democrats would bemoan less tax dollars going to NPR.

Former senior business editor for NPR Uri Berliner outed the network for their growing bias in recent years in April 2024, detailing how the network pushed the Russia-collusion hoax against Trump, refused to pursue the story of Hunter Biden’s laptop, refused to entertain the origins of COVID-19 being from a lab in Wuhan, China, and decided to take the side of the screaming mob, implementing backwards race-based trainings in the wake of George Floyd’s death in 2020.

That’s all to say, left-wing talking points became NPR talking points.

This is no longer a network for all the American people, so why should they fund it?

Stephen Colbert’s show was losing  its parent company CBS a staggering $40 million every year before its cancellation.

Yesterday evening, the network confirmed that it was cancelling the show for financial reasons after over a decade on air.

Meanwhile, a report from Puck News has now shed light on the extent of those losses and also Colbert’s reaction to his cancellation:

Today’s announcement that CBS will end Late Show With Stephen Colbert at the end of the 2026 season came as a shock to you, me, and those who’ve worked on the program for years. Paramount co-C.E.O. George Cheeks pulled the trigger on this one, though sources tell me CBS executives have been discussing the future of the Late Show franchise for months.

The Colbert team was notified around July Fourth that the show was in jeopardy, and Colbert himself was told of the final decision last night. CBS did not plan to announce the move so soon, per sources, but Colbert decided that to avoid leaks, he wanted to reveal it this afternoon to his staff and discuss it on his show tonight, which he did.

You can tell from the clips he’s still kinda in shock, and backstage, I’m told he was resolute and matter-of-fact with his top staff, thanking them and “not angry, actually,” per one source in the Ed Sullivan Theater.

For those keeping track of Paramount merger politics, Cheeks did not consult Ellison, JeffShell, or the incoming Skydance team in advance. Canceling a money-losing program does not rise to the level of a “material decision” that must be run by the new regime, and Late Show has been losing more than $40 million a year for CBS (though that doesn’t include some ancillary revenue).

Jimmy Kimmel has been left rattled after the cancellation of fellow late-night comedian Stephen Colbert’s show on CBS.

In a post on Instagram, Kimmel lashed out at the company for axing the show, despite it losing huge amounts of money.

“Love you, Stephen. Fuck you and all your Sheldons CBS.”

According to a report from Puck News, the decision to cancel Colbert’s show was taken because it was costing Paramount $40 million a year. The total production cost runs at over $100 million.

As the two most recognizable faces in late-night comedy, Kimmel and Colbert have increasingly used their platform as a propaganda tool for the Democratic Party rather than entertainment shows that all Americans can enjoy.

Following Trump’s victory last November, Kimmel choked up on air as he moaned about the “hard-working immigrants” who might be deported under the administration.

Kimmel’s visceral reaction may also stem from a fear that he could soon find himself on the chopping block over at ABC.

Even President Trump is predicting his downfall.

“I absolutely love that Colbert got fired,” Trump wrote after hearing the news. “His talent was even less than his ratings.”

“I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next. Has even less talent than Colbert!” he continued.

“Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the Moron on NBC who ruined the once great Tonight Show.”

Colbert’s firing also comes just days after he slammed Paramount’s $16 million settlement with Trump as a “big, fat bribe.”

”Thank you. Thank you for all your efforts. The next time you all see me, Donald Trump will be president. And you may not see me.”

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban insists that resolving the Ukraine crisis demands direct talks between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He argues, in an interview with Ultrahang, that without a face-to-face summit, the conflict will drag on indefinitely. Orban views Trump as a genuine advocate for ending the bloodshed.

Recent developments show Trump shifting toward bolstering Ukraine with more weapons, including Patriot missiles, to pressure Russia. Russia has dismissed Trump’s 50-day ceasefire ultimatum as unacceptable.

Orban warns that Europeans and Ukrainians, despite public claims, appear intent on prolonging the fight. He points out the hypocrisy, “everyone professes a desire for peace, yet the war rages on”. This mismatch suggests hidden agendas among some leaders.

In the quaint Swiss town of Porrentruy, a public swimming pool has slammed the gates on all foreigners following rampant chaos from French migrant youths.

These troublemakers, often with Arabic names, turned the serene spot into a nightmare of sexual harassment and violence. Now, locals breathe easy once again.

Foreigners with Swiss work permits or hotel vouchers can enter, but at double the price. This deters casual intruders and prevents the migrants from the nearby French suburb of Belfort  from entering.

Before the ban, young girls endured groping and catcalls in the bathrooms, while thefts ran wild. Mothers barred their daughters from visiting, fearing the worst. The pool, just kilometers from the troubled Belfort suburbs, became a magnet for disorderly cross-border gangs.

No formal complaints were filed, only verbal gripes, but cops won’t discuss harassment claims due to concerns of a media frenzy. Since the ban, there has not been a single report of harassment.

Prior efforts like 20 individual bans failed to curb the mayhem. Fences were breached, rules flouted. Police arrived multiple times, hourly, at season’s start.

Municipal councilor Lionel Maître hailed the move as a triumph, noting a spike in season ticket sales to Apollo News. Citizens have reclaimed their oasis, he said, with no disturbances since implementation. Security guards, once essential, are now obsolete.

Lifeguard Luna Lando described the transformation: climbers scaling fences and ignoring authority are gone. Her shifts are calm, free from daily stress. “It’s much quieter now,” she beamed.

German newsletter, Bild, interviewed some of the locals for their reactions. A 17-year-old student, Alexi, echoed the relief, saying Swiss folks couldn’t even enter their own pool before. “It couldn’t go on like this,” he insisted.

Pensioner Chantalle, 68, recalled police visits almost daily due to rowdy 15-year-olds. The constant stress is history. She welcomes the restored order.

Swimming instructor Vieira da Silva Aurelie from elsewhere in Switzerland admitted she would’ve avoided the pool without the ban. Women faced whistles and unwanted touches relentlessly.

Teacher Melanie, 51, noted the public fear of rule-breaking hordes from French suburbs. They’re troublemakers at home too, she noted, “It’s unfair to innocents, but necessary”.

Swiss woman Marie lamented the decision, claiming crowds were the real culprit, not nationality. She misses the diversity and spotted no problems. But police data tells a different tale.

Could such bold bans heal Europe’s pool plagues? Gateway Pundit has previously reported on the ongoing troubles at German pools. Perhaps it’s time they take note of this Swiss success.
