FBI, DOJ, Caught Lying about Oklahoma City Bombing Footage, Pics of Security Cameras on Murrah Building Highlight 30 Years of Courtroom Lies
August 19, 2025

Federal officials, in public and in federal courtrooms, are lying about the existence of video footage from the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

Utah Attorney Jesse Trentadue believes his brother was interrogated and tortured to death in August 1995 because federal authorities mistakenly thought he was “John Doe #2” in the Oklahoma City Bombing. For the past 30 years, Trentadue has filed 7 major federal FOIA lawsuits seeking documents and evidence, and has already obtained 2 million documents. Trentadue doggedly pursues the many lies federal authorities have told over the years about the bombing, and the illegal federal program “PATCON” that he believes was involved in his brother’s murder, and which is still ongoing today.

One of the critical lies, which still informs the mainstream narratives and dominates most media coverage of the case, is that there was no second bomber alongside Timothy McVeigh that day. McVeigh was convicted of the bombing and executed on June 11, 2001.

Even though multiple eyewitnesses noticed two men exiting the Ryder truck transporting the bomb to the Alfred P. Murrah building that day, the narrative from federal officials is firm that McVeigh acted alone while in Oklahoma City.

This issue would be easy to solve if there were video of the truck arriving and the explosion.

The government has claimed, consistently in public and in court, that no such video exists. The FBI Section Chief David M. Hardy has said in court filings under oath, that no such video exists.

But documents show FBI Agents taking possession of such video, and even describing the contents of such video, in their reports. Jesse Trentadue believes that multiple videos exist of the truck and the bombing, and federal officials refuse to release it because it shows a second bomber whom Trentadue believes was a federal agent.

Trentadue points to eyewitnesses who saw FBI Agents push people away from the immediate wreckage of the Alfred P. Murrah building, sternly warning individuals trying to save people trapped in the wreckage, among the 168 who died that day including the 19 children who died in the second floor daycare that tragic day, that they were not authorized to access the site because of confidential government files and information that were within the wreckage.

One such witness who saw FBI Agents order people away from the rescue mission was Don Browning. Browning testified in court that after being turned away from the wreckage, he also saw FBI Agents put up ladders to rip out the security cameras that were attached to the Murrah building.

This remarkable statement, which is in stark contrast to the statements by DOJ and FBI lawyers over the years that no such security camera footage exists, and no such cameras were ever on the Murrah building, could offer an extraordinary revelation into whether there was one or two bombers, and if there were more people than McVeigh exiting the truck, then the federal government’s theory of the case has been fundamentally flawed from the start.

The FBI and the Department of Justice has claimed in court that no such cameras ever existed. The FBI released 29 videos in 2009 from buildings near the Murrah building that showed the aftermath of the bombing from inside those buildings, but has never released the footage captured from the front of the targeted Murrah building. The FBI was accused of editing the 29 videos from 2009 by deleting the moment of the explosion, where federal authorities claimed the “tapes were being changed out” at that moment.

The presence of cameras on the Murrah building would also significantly undermine the credibility of the United States government and its many assertions in courts for a generation that there were no such cameras and no footage of the bombing.

Trentadue points to still pictures taken by government photographers immediately after the bombing which appear to show still-standing cameras in the corners of the building. The photographic images were admitted into federal trials, and are not the original copies, but in the photographs one can see what appear to be security cameras on the exterior of the federal building.

The Gateway Pundit took these files from Jesse Trentadue, who admitted them into his court proceedings trying to litigate the release of relevant files held by the government, and adjusted them with photo editing software.

With very little effort, a hard-to-discern security camera came plainly into view.

The original image, cropped only on the alleged camera.

Layer edits to the entire image bring out the outline of the camera with more definition.

Editing reveals what appears to be light on the lens of the security camera attached to the Murrah building in Oklahoma City, immediately after the bombing, a camera that federal authorities claim does not exist.

The images, presented below for the first time, not only appear to show a black security camera on the Murrah building, but even show the glare on the camera’s lens barely reflecting the sunlight.

Other photographs from the immediate aftermath of the explosion also appear to show Murrah building cameras in the same spot. Yet according to federal officials, there is no video of the bombing.

These images, and with witnesses like Don Browning who saw FBI Agents remove these cameras, alongside the documents from FBI Agents relating details of what they observed on seized video cameras, are currently being litigated in a Utah federal court for the past 17 years.

The Trump Administration could easily declassify and end Trentadue’s 30 year struggle to find out what really happened to his brother Kenneth. But instead, they have continued to fight harder than ever to prevent the release of any additional files, an estimated 67,000 documents are the subject of the present litigation.

And as there is no statute of limitations on murder, the Department of Justice could also indict the three individuals Jesse Trentadue believes entered his brother’s cell dressed in riot gear and beat his brother to death and then faked the scene to look like a suicide.

Trentadue believes that the batch of documents currently being litigated are critical to revealing the federal role in creating and managing the “Aryan Republican Army,” a group of white extremists that were organized and led by undercover federal agents. This “Army” then engaged in bank robberies and violent crimes that were used to entrap members so that federal officials could prosecute the lower-level members of the organization. Records indicate that the ATF had an undercover agent present on site, Carol Howe, relaying nearly 100 reports back to her handler, in addition to the leader of the group being an FBI Confidential Informant. In addition, an alleged intelligence agent from Germany, Andreas Strassmeier, was also in charge of ‘security’ for the group. Trentadue claims that the funds that McVeigh used to finance the Oklahoma City bombing were obtained from the bank robberies committed by the ARA, and were coordinated with federal agents.

These illegal operations, meant to identify, manage, and entrap political extremists, Trentadue believes, has been ongoing for decades and is referenced in documents as “PATCON” which is short for “Patriot Conspiracy.”

In the past month, the book “Blowback” by investigative journalist Margaret Roberts has reignited interest in the Oklahoma City bombing. Roberts was interviewed by Tucker Carlson on August 5th.

In “Blowback” and corroborated by Trentadue, an unnamed FBI Agent attempted to sell footage of the Oklahoma City bombing for $1 million to Dateline NBC in October 1995. The footage was reportedly held closely by federal agents, and showed two conspirators exiting the truck which minutes later exploded.

The FBI document describing the attempted sale of this footage, is presented below.

Trentadue’s case trying to force the release of this footage, among other evidence he is seeking, was filed in 2008 as Jesse Trentadue v. the Central Intelligence Agency in a Utah federal court. The federal case has been ongoing for 17 years.

The FBI interviewed a reported 25,000 individuals as part of the Oklahoma City investigation, and brought hundreds of witnesses to the several criminal trials, including against Timothy McVeigh and his alleged accomplice Terry Nichols. In none of those trials did the government admit any security camera footage as evidence to show the juries what happened.

Trentadue wrote a letter to Trump’s Attorney General Pam Bondi in March 2025 asking her to finally stop the pointless litigation opposing his requests, a letter that was ignored.

The Department of Justice’s Senior Media Affairs Manager Natalie Baldassarre responded to a request for comment for this story with: “no comment.”

Loudoun County Public Schools Lunacy: Boys SUSPENDED for Objecting to Sharing Locker Room with a Female Pretending to Be Male
August 19, 2025

The radical madness in Loudoun County, Virginia, just hit a new low. Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) has decided to SUSPEND two boys at Stone Bridge High School, not because they misbehaved, not because they broke the law, but because they dared to ask why a girl was in the boys’ locker room.

7News reported earlier this year that LCPS launched a Title IX investigation against the boys after they were caught on video asking the obvious question: Why is there a girl in the boys’ locker room?

That video, however, wasn’t recorded by the boys; it was recorded by the female student who identifies as male. A direct violation of LCPS policy, according to the news outlet.

WATCH:

Yet instead of disciplining the rule-breaker, the school launched a full-blown investigation against the boys themselves.

The school’s Title IX Office determined the boys were guilty of “sexual harassment” and “sex-based discrimination.”

Their punishment? A 10-day suspension, a no-contact order with the female student, forced meetings with administrators, and a permanent smear on their academic records that could destroy their college prospects.

7News reported:

On Monday, 7News spoke with the parents of the two boys.

“I would say the first reaction was some anger, because we’re just really concerned with all this stuff,” Seth Wolfe, one of the parents, told 7News. “[We’re] saddened by the decision-making process and how that went.”

“[We’re] absolutely floored that they came back and branded my son responsible for sexual harassment and sex based discrimination with no solid evidence whatsoever,” Renae Smith, the other parent, told 7News. “We’re talking about scarring him for life by a biased process that’s supposed to protect fairness, but it’s shocking. It’s wrong, and it should terrify every single parent.”

Smith pulled her son out of LCPS this summer and moved out of state, but if he comes back, LCPS says they will suspend her son too.

Smith’s concern is this will follow her son because it’s on his permanent academic record, and could impact his college applications.

Smith and Wolfe believe LCPS is sending a message that any student who expresses views that disagree with so-called Policy 8040 will be punished.

Loudoun County is one of five Virginia school districts, along with Fairfax County, Prince William County, Alexandria City, and Arlington, that the U.S. Department of Education determined to be in violation of Title IX.

“These school divisions have been violating federal law, deliberately neglecting their responsibility to protect students’ safety, privacy and dignity, and ignoring parents’ rights. They got away with this behavior because the Biden Administration backed them up. Commonsense is back, with biological boys and girls in their own locker rooms and bathrooms, and boys out of girls sports,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin in a statement in July.

“Earlier this year, I asked Attorney General Jason Miyares to investigate Title IX violations in Loudoun County, where school officials shockingly targeted boys who were expressing their concern that a biological girl was being allowed in the boys locker room. It is time for these school leaders to do the right thing for students and parents. I thank President Trump and Secretary McMahon for their actions in defense of student safety, privacy and dignity.”

According to 7News, all five school systems announced they would not change their policies, arguing the rules are required under a Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals decision in Grimm v. Gloucester County.

In that case, the court ruled that denying a transgender student access to bathrooms matching their gender identity amounts to sex-based discrimination.

The Fairfax County Superintendent openly mocked the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Education in remarks to parents, signaling blatant defiance of recent federal guidance.

I did send a message home to families on Friday and we’re gonna continue to be the school district that welcomes and includes all students regardless of what the Office of Civil Rights has recently said and we do expect some type of response at some point later this week, but until then we’re excited about welcoming our students back to school!” said Michelle Reid.

Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division Harmeet Dhillon fired back with a terse reply: “Oh yeah?”

Nevada’s AG Says Pam Bondi Is OUTRAGED After Israel’s Top Cyber Chief Fled the U.S. Without Surrendering His Passport Following Arrest for Luring a Minor Online: “He Must Be Returned Immediately to Face Justice”
August 19, 2025

On Monday night, Sigal Chattah, U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada, sounded the alarm after a shocking betrayal of justice allowed an alleged child molester to escape accountability, which “outraged” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi.

The Gateway Pundit reported Monday that Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, head of the Technological Defense Division at the Israel National Cyber Directorate, was arrested in Las Vegas on suspicion of attempting to lure minors for sexual purposes.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Alexandrovich was caught attempting to solicit sex from a minor electronically during a multi-agency sting operation targeting child predators.

He was booked into the Henderson Detention Center and shockingly released by a Nevada state judge on a measly $10,000 bail, without requiring him to surrender his passport.

The Nevada Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force confirmed the bust was part of a multi-agency operation that included LVMPD, FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, Henderson Police, North Las Vegas Police, and the Nevada Attorney General’s Office.

In total, eight predators were arrested:

  • David Wonnacott-Yahnke, 40
  • Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, 38
  • Jose Alberto Perez-Torres, 35
  • Aniket Brajeshkumar Sadani, 23
  • James Ramon Reddick, 23
  • Ramon Manuel Parra Valenzuela, 29
  • Neal Harrison Creecy, 46
  • John Charles Duncan, 49

All face felony charges of Luring a Child with a Computer for Sex Act.

According to Ynet News, “After his questioning, he returned to his hotel and flew back to Israel two days later. Israeli officials downplayed the incident, saying it carried “no political implications” and was resolved quickly. The reasons for the questioning remain unclear but may relate to the employee’s conduct.”

Netanyahu’s office quickly released a statement denying that the employee had ever been arrested.

“A state employee who traveled to the U.S. for professional matters was questioned by American authorities during his stay,” the prime minister’s office said. “The employee, who does not hold a diplomatic visa, was not arrested and returned to Israel as scheduled.”

With online speculation swirling that the U.S. government may have intervened to shield a high-ranking Israeli cyber official, the State Department issued a statement:

“The Department of State is aware that Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, an Israeli citizen, was arrested in Las Vegas and given a court date for charges related to soliciting sex electronically from a minor. He did not claim diplomatic immunity and was released by a state judge pending a court date. Any claims that the U.S. government intervened are false.”

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi was reportedly furious when she learned Nevada’s liberal district attorney and a weak state judge allowed Alexandrovich to walk free, according to Nevada’s Attorney General Sigal Chattah.

“A liberal district attorney and state court judge in Nevada FAILED TO REQUIRE AN ALLEGED CHILD MOLESTER TO SURRENDER HIS PASSPORT, which allowed him to flee our country. The Attorney General [Pam Bondi] just called me outraged and she also called the [FBI Director Kash Patel]. The individual who fled our country should have had his passport seized by the state authorities. He must be returned immediately to face justice.”

TGP EXCLUSIVE: British Author Andrew Lownie in a Q&A About ‘Entitled’, His Blockbuster Biography of Scandalous Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson That Is Rocking the Royal Family

August 19, 2025

Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson are shown in their larger-than-life scandalous life.

British author Andrew Lownie was born in November 1961. He has a master’s degree and doctorate from the University of Edinburgh, and is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

Lownie has written several biographies covering from spy Guy Burgess to scandalous Lord Mountbatten and his wife Edwina.

Lownie also published Traitor King, a groundbreaking biography of former King Edward VIII, that Lownie found to have been a Nazi sympathizer, aiding the German enemies before and during the Second World War.

Andrew Lownie – Wiki Commons.

His new book, ‘Entitled’, explores the myriads of sex misconduct scandals and shady deals involving disgraced Prince Andrew and his ex-wife (that still lives with him) Sarah Ferguson – a tale of unbridled sexuality, Jeffrey Epstein outrages, reckless serial spending of British taxpayers’ money and shady connections to accused Chinese spies.

Lownie conceded an exclusive Q&A interview to TGP about the book that has the Royal Family reeling.

Lownie’s book is causing an earthquake in Andrew’s family, forcing his daughters to shun him.

Q: What drove you to write about the Royal Family?

LOWNIE: I fell into it by chance. I started writing literary travel and biography then intelligence books and it was my book on [diplomat and spy] Guy Burgess which led me to Mountbatten.

I had read Philip Ziegler’s authorized life for the Burgess research and felt there was a rather racier story to tell.

I choose the prism of the Mountbatten marriage to differentiate it from other books and that led to a trilogy on royal marriages.

In Traitor King I asked whether the marriage of the Duke of Windsor and Wallis Simpson was the love affair of the century as well as questioning the accepted narrative on their Nazi links.

In the final volume Entitled which though again is focused on a marriage – are they as claimed the happiest divorced couple ever? – also looks at the couple’s close associations with Jeffrey Epstein, the way they have leveraged their royal status for personal financial gain and how they have been allowed to get away with it.

I first knew your work because of your biography of the very controversial Mountbattens. What do you think was the impact of their grand-uncle Lord Mountbatten in the upbringing of King Charles and Prince Andrew?

Mountbatten was a crucial influence on Charles personally with girlfriends and in terms of his public duties but negligible on Andrew who had only just left school when Mountbatten was murdered.

What kind of pushback did you get from the Royal Family after you started working on ‘Entitled’?

Sarah Ferguson’s lawyer Paul Tweed wrote a warning letter to my publisher before the book was published saying they were watching my social media but neither Collins nor I are going to be intimidated by such threats.

Disgraced British Prince Andrew.

After all the research you’ve done, to what you attribute Randy Andy’s hypersexualized nature?

I suggest that he was subject to sexual abuse as a child which has shaped his subsequent sexual history. Shades of Lord Mountbatten.

Do you think Andrew’s ‘greed and sense of entitlement’ are an aberration or a family trait?

I think most members of the Royal Family carry out their duties diligently and don’t seek to capitalize on their position for their personal benefit but there are exceptions and the most egregious examples are the Duke and Duchess of York.

Was being a Navy pilot Andrew’s finest moment? Did he peak this early?

Yes, the Falklands War in 1982 was Andrew’s high point where he was given a focus and stepped up to the challenge serving conscientiously throughout the campaign. But his natural laziness and sense of entitlement then returned and it was pretty much downhill from there.

Debate continues whether he was given special privileges and ever placed at risk but, having built a good relationship with his CO in Falklands who I respect, I think Andrew did his bit.

What was the impact of Sarah Ferguson on the Duke? Was she ‘too much of a breath of fresh air’?

The marriage was based on a strong physical attraction but there were private family concerns that both had got married on the rebound from other relationships and concerns that Sarah’s character and history might create embarrassments – and that has proved to be the case.

Did Andrew’s father Philip have an affair with Fergie’s mother?

Yes, I mention it as clearly important but only in passing. It’s based on reliable private information.

The Duke has never been inside a supermarket.

Your book, in a way, is a ‘massacre’ with a parade of unflattering epithets. What’s your favorite to describe the duke?

His wife called him an ‘intellectual zombie’ and explained his behavior by the fact he had never been in a supermarket.

Up to a certain point, scandals like ‘Topless Fergie is Given Toe Job by Pal Johnny’ seems to have made her even a worst offender than the Duke – her disclosing that she had two HIV tests, for example.

She certainly was initially the more embarrassing – he was in the Navy and his scope for mischief was more limited – and now his scandals with Epstein and as Special Trade Representative have rather let her sneak under the radar. They are as bad as each other.

In the book, we learn that Sarah was ‘prepared to tell stories that are not very pleasant about the English Crown’, write ‘a kiss-and-tell memoir’. Is that blackmail still ongoing?

I suspect there are good reasons why she remains within the bosom of the Royal Family.

How pervasive were the rumors that Andrew was bisexual? Is there any truth to it?

The rumors were investigated by the media and no evidence found but they continue and I have collected a large file on the subject. That said there are questions about privacy and I want to keep my focus on the financial corruption.

The most pornographic aspect of the book for me was the constant raping of taxpayers’ money. It’s astounding. Do all the Royals behave like that? How unusual is Andrew in this respect?

I don’t know because I’ve only researched Andrew and Fergie, who were certainly very brazen about it, but clearly there have been scandals with other Royals.

Maxwell led the Prince to Jeffrey Epstein’s circle.

What was the impact of Ghislaine Maxwell over the ‘couch potato’ Duke?

Maxwell drew Andrew into Epstein’s web and was a key figure in Epstein’s operation with his ‘Super Bowl trophy’

The book clarifies when the Duke and Fergie met Jeffrey Epstein. In what way does it differ from what Andrew has told the press?

Andrew claimed in his Newsnight interview to have met Epstein in late 1990s and hardly known him when in fact they met a decade earlier. He and Sarah were much more deeply involved with the convicted pedophile than they have let on and continued to stay with him after they had claimed to have broken off all contact with him.

How often did your research show that the duke was engaged on sex with underage/barely legal girls in this period?

I found no evidence of sex with underage girls but lots with women in their early twenties and the same age as his daughters.

Was it common knowledge in the press that he sweated profusely when dancing?

Yes, as myriad press photographs show.

Prince Andrew and Epstein in NY’s Central Park.

How much access to the Royal Family and its properties did Andrew give to Epstein?

The Full Monty: Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Sandringham, Balmoral. Other suspect business associates were entertained at Royal Palaces, invited to weddings, given tea by Queen etc.

Out of every sexual misconduct by the Duke, Virginia Giuffre was to be his undoing. How did he choose her among the girls run by Epstein?

I understand he picked her from a catalogue.

Over the years, nearly all that Giuffre revealed has turned out to be true – including being raped by Andrew 3 times. What was his first, private reaction to the accusations?

His first reaction was how to deal with her and undermine her credibility. A PR firm was brought in to help him.

Why was he called ‘air miles Andy’?

Because he preferred to take private jets and helicopters rather than commercial flights and trains whatever the cost to the taxpayer.

Did the Duke refrain from associating with Epstein after his prosecution in Florida?

No. He was the guest of honor during a five day stay with Epstein in December 2010 shortly after Epstein came out of prison.

The duke has claimed that he visited Epstein in 2010 just to break up their friendship. Was that the case?

No, he visited him to cadge some money for Fergie, to seek reassurances that Epstein was not going to blackmail him and to discuss some business projects.

The duke was also revealed in the JPMorgan documents as a friend that was referred to the bank by Epstein. What was the degree of involvement there?

The full story of Andrew and Epstein’s involvement with JP Morgan has yet to be revealed but it was extensive. Let us hope more court documents are unsealed or someone is prepared to talk.

Epstein victim, the late Virginia Giuffre pictured with Prince Andrew and Ghislaine Maxwel.

Is it a fact that Epstein films Andrew for kompromat? Where did he send this material to?

Yes, Juliet Bryant saw the control room and we know the FBI took the tapes in 2006 – some were entrusted to a cop Mark Dougan for safe keeping because the cop thought they would never surface publicly and he took them to Russia where they are now in the hands of Putin. Tim Reilly, ex Kroll, has confirmed the Russians have kompromat on Andrew and I have several sources who have revealed various intelligence agencies have caught Andrew in a honey trap.

How effective have been his denials and his attempts to downplay his long relationship with Epstein?

Andrew is not good at lying which is strange given the practice he has had.

From all you’ve learned, do you think Epstein killed himself or was murdered? What makes you think so?

I’m increasingly persuaded he did not commit suicide. Apart from the missing cameras and guards, there is the Baden coroner’s report raising the idea of homicide, the lawyers who say Epstein was bullish rather than suicidal and the various cover ups which have been exposed. All very suspicious.

His ‘car crash’ BBC interview: how come someone with a host of advisers could engage in such an il-advised course of action? Why did he tell easily refutable lies?

Andrew was warned not to do the interview and if so to control it, keep it short and prepare. He’s so arrogant he did none of those things and felt he could say the first thing which came into his head.

Andrew with accused Chinese spy Yang Tengbo.

What was the reaction in the UK to the Duke relinquishing his Royal duties?

Relief and ‘why had it taken so long’.

What prompted the episode in which Prince Harry punched Andrew?

Andrew cautioning Harry about her.

How does Andrew fund his lavish lifestyle?

His suspect financial dealings.

After all that, what was the reaction to Andrew’s relationship with accused Chinese spy Yang Tengbo?

No one was surprised he had been entrapped. Tengbo is not the only spy in the couple’s ambit.

What was Epstein’s opinion of Andrew?

A useful idiot who could be played.

Your book Entitled has become news in itself. What has been the reaction of the press and the royal family to it?

Extensive media publicity and, gratifyingly, a growing commentary arguing for greater royal transparency. Usual response from Palace. Silence publicly but various efforts to undermine my credibility behind the scenes.

Do you fear retaliation from the Windsors?

That comes with the territory if you speak truth to power.

Foreign Holdings of U.S. Treasuries at Record High, World Investing in US Economy

Critics attack the president’s tariffs and economic policies, yet the world is investing in the U.S. at record levels. The very countries Trump has clashed with in trade disputes, and hit with massive tariffs, are buying up U.S. Treasury notes.

As of June 2025, foreign entities hold a record $9.13 trillion in U.S. Treasury notes, an $80.2 billion increase from May’s $9.05 trillion. This marks the fourth consecutive month above $9 trillion and represents nearly a $1 trillion (10%) increase compared to June 2024, when holdings stood at about $8.13 trillion.

Japan remains the largest foreign holder with $1.147 trillion in June 2025, up $12.6 billion from May. The United Kingdom holds the second position at $858.1 billion, up from $809.4 billion in May. China, the third-largest holder, maintained $756.4 billion, essentially flat from $756.3 billion in May.

China’s holdings remain well below their peak of over $1.3 trillion held between 2012 and 2016, as the country has been gradually reducing Treasuries to support the yuan amid slowing economic growth and trade barriers.

Part of China’s sales of Treasuries is due to the yuan losing value, forcing Beijing to prop up its currency. Another reason is that China has been buying U.S. agency bonds. China’s reserves have shifted from Treasuries to Agencies, with increased use of offshore custodians. The available evidence suggests that about 50 percent of its reserves are still held in dollar bonds.

Despite record-holding levels, tariff policies created significant volatility in transaction flows. There were substantial sales and liquidations earlier in the year, as countries and investors speculated on how long the tariffs would last and how they would impact the global economy. In the end, however, investors voted with their wallets, banking on the U.S. government.

Higher yields on U.S. Treasuries, fueled by inflation concerns and tariff impacts, have drawn more foreign investors seeking stronger returns. At the same time, global trade tensions and economic uncertainty have sustained demand for U.S. debt as a safe store of value.

This shows that, despite policy volatility and the dollar’s 11% drop in the first half of 2025, the steepest decline since 1973, Treasuries are still regarded as the world’s premier safe-haven asset.

Historically, U.S. bonds have been considered risk-free and are used as the global baseline for comparing investment options. A credit downgrade does not mean the U.S. is bankrupt; it simply reflects that mathematical models no longer assign a zero probability to default. In reality, the expectation remains that the U.S. will always repay its debts, since Congress has the power to tax across the world’s largest taxpayer base.

The most recent downgrade came in May 2025, when Moody’s lowered the U.S. credit rating from Aaa to Aa1. The agency cited growing debt from higher federal spending and reduced revenues due to tax cuts, estimating that extending the 2017 TCJA provisions would add $4 trillion to the debt over the next decade. Media critics portrayed this as evidence that President Trump had wrecked the economy.

In truth, however, downgrades have occurred under past administrations as well. Under President Biden, Fitch Ratings cut the U.S. rating from AAA to AA+ in August 2023, pointing to “fiscal deterioration,” a “high and growing government debt burden,” and an “erosion of governance” after a Republican debt ceiling standoff.

A decade earlier, under President Obama, Standard & Poor’s downgraded the U.S. from AAA to AA+ in August 2011, citing “political brinksmanship” and “less stable, less effective, and less predictable” governance during another debt ceiling showdown.

Despite these downgrades, U.S. Treasuries and the dollar remain the world’s premier reserve assets, and American government debt is still considered the safest and highest-paying sovereign investment available.

Global demand for U.S. Treasury bonds strengthens the dollar because foreign investors must first convert their local currencies (euros, yen, yuan, etc.) into U.S. dollars. This creates heavy demand in foreign exchange markets, pushing up the dollar’s value relative to other currencies. A stronger dollar, however, makes American exports more expensive abroad, hurting U.S. manufacturers and exporters.

The dollar’s decline in value this year is not necessarily a bad thing. The dollar had risen steadily since Trump’s first administration, and a correction was overdue. In fact, with reciprocal tariffs in place, an 11% weaker dollar helps offset some of the cost, giving U.S. exporters a built-in discount.

At the same time, the world is still investing in US treasuries showing that despite the rhetoric and criticism, the world has yet to find an alternative to the dollar.
