NTD White House Correspondent Iris Tao tells President Trump horrifying story of violent robbery in DC

In a somewhat unorthodox but heartwarming moment during President Trump’s cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the President allowed a reporter to tell her story of a violent robbery that left her beaten and scarred and could have taken her life in Washington, DC, during the Biden Administration.

NTD White House correspondent Iris Tao was previously mugged at gunpoint and beaten by a masked assailant in broad daylight outside her DC apartment.

While touting his successful crime initiative and federalization of the DC police department on Tuesday, the President decided to recognize the young woman to tell her story.

“Ever since, I’ve never dared to walk in the street of DC at night ever, and my family was extremely worried. So, Mr. President, thank you so much for what you’re doing right now because such incidents involve not just me, but also my family,” she told the President.

“If he had shot me, I could have died right there in the middle of nowhere without my family or my friends knowing at the age of, back then, I think 23, just starting my career here in DC, without even starting a family. But now I’m very blessed to have this opportunity.”

Tao further told the President that ever since he sent in the National Guard and took control of the city, she feels “a lot safer.” She added, “I’m hopeful about DC again, and one day, hopefully, we can raise our family here.”

Across the entire city, there has been a noticeable change. Where there were once homeless vagrants, tweakers, and thugs on street corners all over the capital, it is now safe to walk without fear of being assaulted, harassed, robbed, or murdered.

“I heard you were very savagely mugged in the city, and we’re not going to let that happen under this administration,” Trump said before asking Iris to tell her horrifying story.

The President later noted, “it’s really amazing that you weren’t shot.”

Watch the full exchange below:

Tao: Thank you for having me here to share my story to the room and to the broader public. My name is Iris Tao. I’m a White House correspondent for NTD, the sister media of the Epoch Times. So, more than two years ago, it was a Saturday morning in broad daylight. I was on my way to work, and a young man with a black ski mask pointed a gun in my face and threatened me to hand over my phone, my wallet, my laptop, and everything else, and when I refused, he used the butt of his handgun to strike me across the face, in the cheek, or what some people call “pistol whipped” me before running away. And that has deeply traumatized myself and my family. Ever since, I’ve never dared to walk in the street of DC at night ever, and my family was extremely worried. So, Mr. President, thank you so much for what you’re doing right now because such incidents involve not just me, but also my family. If he had shot me, I could have died right there in the middle of nowhere without my family or my friends knowing at the age of, back then, I think 23— just starting my career here in DC, without even starting a family. But now I’m very blessed to have this opportunity…

Trump: You had a gun pointed at your head, and you probably figured that he’s going to pull the trigger because these are animals that don’t know what the hell— they couldn’t care less. The pulling the trigger to him is a very minor event, and I’m sure he’s done it before. So how did you— and you did refuse to give it, which would probably, maybe somebody would say that was not the right decision, right? But you refused. But I understand that, so and then he hit you real hard. It’s really amazing that you weren’t shot.

Tao: I’m very blessed, and that’s why having this opportunity to stand here to share my story today, one, I’m very grateful for God for allowing me to still survive to this day, but also to— Mr. President, thank you for now making DC safer for us, for our families, for my parents, on behalf of my parents, and now my my baby on the way. Thank you so much.

Trump: And there are other reporters and journalists, good people, and you don’t have to say it, but that have also been attacked, violently, and not violently, too. Pretty badly, and I bet you see a big difference in the streets right now, and this is only 12 days, but people are telling me they’re going out to dinner now that they haven’t… I have a lot of friends that are going out to dinner all the time now in DC, and they weren’t doing it 12 days ago. They would never even think. One of my friends went out five times. It was four times the last time I told, now it’s five times. He said, I love going out to dinner, and restaurants are starting to open again. A lot of them closed because, you know, they weren’t, nobody wanted to go into a restaurant. Nobody wanted to get to a restaurant or even sit in the restaurant. But you see a big difference now, don’t you?

Tao: I do. I do pass by Union Station every day on my way home, and I do feel a lot safer seeing the trucks right outside, seeing the National Guard troops members right outside. It does make me feel like I’m hopeful about DC again, and one day, hopefully, we can raise our family here.

The Gateway Pundit reported last week that Tao penned an op-ed recounting the incident.

BREAKING: Shiloh Hendrix, Woman Seen in Viral Video Using Slur at Park, Charged – Faces Jail and Fines
August 26, 2025

Shiloh Hendrix, the woman seen in a viral video using a racial slur at a kid at a park in Rochester, Minnesota, in April will be charged with three counts of disorderly conduct.

Hendrix is facing up to 90 days in jail and or $1,000 in fines.

Earlier this year, Shiloh Hendrix, a Rochester, Minnesota, mother, raised over $750,000 through a GiveSendGo fundraiser to protect her family after a vicious online witch hunt.

The now-deleted viral video shows Hendricks being confronted by a man who accused her of using the “N-word” in reference to a five-year-old child who she says stole a diaper bag from her 18-month-old son.

As TGP previously reported, the man recording the video, who is now accused by Hendrix of stalking and doxxing her, demands to know why she used the “N-word” in her confrontation.

The video ignited instant backlash, with critics branding Hendrix a racist and launching a coordinated campaign to ruin her life.

According to Hendrix, the video of the confrontation, posted by a man with a reported history with law enforcement, led to her home address, phone number, and even her Social Security number being leaked online, putting her family in danger.

KTTC reported:

The Rochester City Attorney’s Office moves to leverage three counts of Disorderly Conduct against Shiloh Hendrix, a woman who used racial slurs against a Somali child with a disability in a since-viral video in April.

The charges would amount to a maximum of 90 days in jail and/or a $1,000 fine.

The legal complaint is still subject to review and approval by a district court judge, but it concludes that “[Shiloh] wrongfully and unlawfully engaged in offensive, obscene, abusive, boisterous, or noisy conduct, or in offensive obscene, or abusive language that would reasonably tend to arouse alarm, anger, or resentment in others.”

This matter involved a large amount of evidence and required careful consideration of potential charging options across multiple offices. Additionally, under Minnesota law, prosecutors are required to involve and consider the perspective of the crime victim. Given the sensitive and complicated nature of this case, along with the high level of public attention, completing the necessary reviews and conversations with the victim’s family took longer than usual.

The City Attorney’s Office remains focused on the legal process and is committed to ensuring a fair process. We will not speculate on the length of the court process or the potential outcome.

BREAKING: DNI Tulsi Gabbard Uncovers “Burn Bags” of Documents Tied to 2020 Election Corruption – Hidden from American Public (VIDEO)
August 26, 2025

President Donald Trump announced that current Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has uncovered bags of hidden documents related to corruption in the 2020 election.

Trump, speaking in front of his administration as they continue a historic federal crime crackdown in Washington, D.C., and push for peace negotiations in the Russia-Ukraine war, directly addressed the bombshell findings.

According to a statement by President Trump, these files contain “massive” evidence of wrongdoing and will soon be made public.

President Trump:
“And you’ve also found many bags of information. I think they call them burn bags. They’re supposed to be burned, and they didn’t get burned, having to do with how corrupt the 2020 election was. And when will that all come out?”

Tulsi Gabbard, serving as Director of National Intelligence, confirmed the shocking find:

Tulsi Gabbard:
“Mr. President, I will be the first to brief you once we have that information collected. But you’re right, we are finding documents literally tucked away in the back of safes in random offices in these bags and in other areas, which again speaks to the intent of those who are trying to hide the truth from the American people and trying to cover up the politicization that was led by people like John Brennan and James Clapper and others that have caused really immeasurable harm to the American people and to our country.”

WATCH:

In April, Gabbard gave a detailed update on her sweeping investigations into the politicization of intelligence and election interference.

“I’ve got a long list of things that we’re investigating. We have the best going after this, election integrity being one of them,” Gabbard said.

Her statement confirmed what many conservatives have long suspected that the very foundations of America’s electoral system have been compromised.

“I’ve got a long list of things that we’re investigating. We have the best going after this, election integrity being one of them,” Gabbard said.

“We have evidence of how these electronic voting systems have been vulnerable to hackers for a very long time and vulnerable to exploitation to manipulate the results of the votes being cast, which further drives forward your mandate to bring about paper ballots across the country so that voters can have faith in the integrity of our elections.”

In June, President Trump posted on Truth Social that he wants a special prosecutor to investigate fraud in the 2020 Presidential election, which was allegedly ‘won’ by Joe Biden.

“Zero Border crossings for the month for TRUMP, verses 60,000 for Sleepy, Crooked Joe Biden, a man who lost the 2020 Presidential Election by a “LANDSLIDE!,” Trump wrote. “Biden was grossly incompetent, and the 2020 election was a total FRAUD! The evidence is MASSIVE and OVERWHELMING.”

“A Special Prosecutor must be appointed,” he added. “This cannot be allowed to happen again in the United States of America! Let the work begin! What this Crooked man, and his CORRUPT CRONIES, have done to our Country in 4 years, is grossly indescribable!”

The appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate what really happened in one of the most infamous elections in American history would prove a huge victory for all Americans.

The Gateway Pundit has extensively covered the shenanigans that occurred five years ago to help ensure that Biden could seize the White House.

This is a developing story.

HORROR: Heavily Pregnant 17-Year-Old Gunned Down in Road Rage Incident in Louisiana – Premature Baby Delivered Before Teen Taken Off Life Support
August 26, 2025

A 17-year-old girl in her third trimester of pregnancy was gunned down in a road rage incident in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, over the weekend.

According to the Tangipahoa Sheriff’s Department, Katelynn Strate was a passenger in a vehicle with two others when another driver began tailgating them.

The other driver, 54-year-old Barry West, fired a shot, and it struck Katelynn Strate in the head.

Katelynn Strate delivered her baby at 27 weeks before she was taken off life support. The baby is reportedly healthy and in the NICU.

West was booked and charged with “four counts of attempted second-degree murder and one count of illegal use of a weapon and obstruction of justice.” His charges will be upgraded since the victim was taken off life support, the sheriff’s office said.

“We are raising funds in memory of Katelynn Strate, age 17 who tragically lost her life in a road rage incident yesterday morning in Ponchatoula Louisiana while 27 weeks pregnant. Her baby survived, and we are now seeking help to cover funeral expenses for Katelynn, medical bills, and the essential baby items needed by her grandmother, who will now be caring for the baby. Any support you can offer is deeply appreciated,” the family said on a GoFundMe page.

WBRZ reported:

A 17-year-old who was in her third trimester of pregnancy was shot in a road-rage incident over the weekend in Tangipahoa Parish.

Family members say Katelynn Strate is expected to be taken off of life support Monday, but her baby was delivered and is healthy.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office said Strate was a passenger in a car with two other people around 9 a.m. Sunday when they encountered Barry West.

Deputies said West, 54, and the other driver were brake-checking and tailgating each other before West fired a shot and Strate was hit in the head.

When the driver of her vehicle realized what had happened, he drove her to a hospital immediately. Her baby was delivered at 27 weeks and is in an NICU. The family is asking for help covering funeral costs.

Trump Ending Cashless Bail – Criminals Will Go To Jail, And Illegals will be Deported

Trump Ending Cashless Bail – Criminals Will Go To Jail, And Illegals will be Deported

President Trump has signed an executive order ending cashless bail, a program that allowed repeat offenders back on the street to commit additional crimes while awaiting trial. For illegal alien offenders, it was even worse, since many simply never showed up for court.

For Democrats, the program worked well because when the illegals did not return for their trial, they were not convicted and not incarcerated, allowing Democrats to claim that conviction and incarceration rates were lower among illegal aliens.

But now, that is all going to end. Criminals will go to jail. And illegals will be deported, or go to jail and then get deported.

The White House condemned cashless bail as a failed experiment that endangers public safety, citing a series of cases where offenders released without bail quickly reoffended. In New York, a man with dozens of prior arrests was freed after smearing feces on a subway rider, while another murdered a mother in front of her children less than a day after being released for assaulting her.

Others included men who beat an NYPD officer and were immediately released, two illegal immigrants who attacked and bit police officers but were let go, and a suspected Tren de Aragua gang member freed multiple times before finally being held on sex trafficking charges. One career criminal with nearly fifty arrests and thirty convictions was even allowed to walk after being arrested six times in a single year.

Illinois saw a murder suspect released under its no-cash-bail law, and in New York City even convicted killers caught dealing drugs were set free again. Washington, D.C., where most defendants are released pretrial, offered similar examples: in 2025 a man freed after assaulting a police officer stabbed and killed someone on a Metro train just two days later; the year before, another suspect released after attacking a daycare went on to beat two teachers in front of toddlers.

Other cases included a man awaiting trial for murder firing into homes in Maryland, a repeat sex offender with arrests spanning 2018 to 2023 freed after abusing a five-year-old girl, and a man accused of groping three women who was immediately rearrested for assaulting three more. Even seemingly minor offenses highlighted the problem: a man who hurled a sandwich at a federal officer faced up to eight years in prison but was still released, while in 2020 a journalist near Union Station was sexually abused by a homeless man who was freed before trial.

Democrats argue it is unfair to keep people in jail who cannot afford bail, and even claim there is no data showing that releasing them is dangerous. They often cite the Brennan Center’s analysis, which concluded that cashless bail did not increase crime. But that study was flawed. By focusing on overall citywide crime rates, it ignored pretrial crime, a small but critical subset of total crime.

It also overlooked how failures to appear prevent convictions, erasing crimes committed by no-shows from official statistics. On paper, this makes crime look lower while, in reality, more crime is happening on the streets.

Logic and statistics both show the danger. Releasing criminals back into society poses clear risks, especially since most offenders are repeat offenders. According to the National Institute of Justice, nearly 44 percent of released prisoners are rearrested within the first year, and about 68 percent within three years. These numbers make it clear that cashless bail increases risks to public safety.

Several localized studies back this up. In Illinois, during the first half of 2024, a suburban state’s attorney reported a 30 percent increase in crime committed by those on pretrial release compared to those on cash bail, along with a 280 percent increase in failures to appear. In Chicago, nearly 20 percent of felony defendants were already on pretrial release for another pending case, and 12 percent of all felony filings involved individuals who were already out on felony pretrial release.

Even more troubling, Cook County’s Chief Judge’s office has been accused of artificially lowering failure-to-appear statistics by requiring mail notification before warrants can be issued. The real numbers show that more than 70 percent of defendants missed at least one court date during the first year of cashless bail.

The Yolo County studies in California clearly illustrate the dangers of zero bail. The District Attorney’s 2022 report found that of 595 individuals released on zero bail, more than 70 percent were rearrested, and about 20 percent were charged with violent crimes such as murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, robbery, carjacking, and domestic violence.

An expanded 2023 study compared 100 defendants released on zero bail to 100 released on traditional bail. The difference was striking: zero-bail defendants committed 163 percent more crimes, with recidivism rates of 78 percent versus 46 percent for those who posted bail. Researchers noted that the Emergency Bail Release program was never intended to deter recidivism or provide rehabilitation, so it was predictable that offenders released without supervision or support would quickly return to crime.

By reducing conviction and incarceration rates, not because fewer crimes are committed, but because defendants fail to appear, cashless bail creates a statistical illusion of success. In reality, it puts offenders back on the streets, weakens accountability, and erodes public safety.

The chain of evidence is obvious: cashless bail increases failure-to-appear rates, fewer appearances mean fewer convictions, reduced convictions create the illusion of lower crime, and meanwhile, actual reoffending skyrockets. Illegal aliens are especially unlikely to return for court if they are not under bond.

Since they are in the country illegally, it makes sense to deport them when they are arrested. Under Trump, the DOJ has largely done this by dropping charges without prejudice and proceeding with deportation. Democrats and the media, of course, claim that charges are being dropped because they are fake or would not stand up in court, and they argue the deportations are unwarranted since there was no conviction. But that ignores the fact that being in the country illegally is already grounds for deportation.
