Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old accused of assassinating conservative icon Charlie Kirk, confessed in a Discord group chat to his friends shortly before turning himself in.
The confession came two hours before he was surrendered to authorities.
According to screenshots obtained by the Washington Post, Robinson told the group of 30 people, “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this. im surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. thanks for all the good times and laughs.”
Before his confession, someone in the group posted about Kirk’s shooting. Another user responded to the news, saying, “I just saw the video holy sh-t. Bro didn’t deserve to go out like that.”
The screenshot was shared with The Post by another member of the group chat, who requested anonymity.

Robinson also reportedly made flippant jokes in Discord chats with 20 other users while he was on the run, though it is unclear if this is the same chat group. He is reported to have quipped to friends that a “doppelganger” was responsible for the shooting after the FBI released images of the suspect.
Discord has claimed it found “no evidence that the suspect planned this incident or promoted violence on Discord.”
Despite this, there have been at least seven posts uncovered from social media users who appeared to have advanced knowledge of the assassination plot, as The Gateway Pundit has been reporting. The FBI is reportedly investigating those users.
For example, one X user linked to Robinson’s circle posted “WE F-CKING DID IT” after the shooting.
FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has said that Robinson had an obsession with Kirk.
“I think it’s pretty clear based on the statements of family members, friends and some of the messaging we have on these digital footprints left behind that [Robinson] clearly had some obsession with Charlie Kirk,” Bongino told Fox’s “America’s Newsroom” on Monday.
”Charlie Kirk is obviously a conservative commentator,” Bongino continued. “I think it’s fairly obvious to everyone out there, and there’s no need to parse words with it, that clearly this was an ideologically motivated attack.”
Robinson has been charged with capital murder, among other charges, and may be eligible for the death penalty if convicted.
The accused assassin remains on special watch in Utah jail amid safety concerns.
WATCH LIVE: President Trump Signs a Memorandum and Speaks to the Press – 4 PM ET
September 15, 2025
President Trump delivers a solemn address from the Oval Office after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, calling it “a dark moment for America” and vowing justice.
President Trump is scheduled to sign a Presidential Memorandum and speak to reporters this afternoon.
The White House has not provided any details on the memo Trump will sign.
The signing will take place after Trump’s meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, leader of the Eastern Orthodox Christians, who arrived at the White House at approximately 2 pm for his first White House visit in four years.
This also comes amid the ongoing investigation into the assassination of Charlie Kirk.
Charlie was assassinated by a leftwing terrorist, later identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, during a speaking event at Utah Valley University last Wednesday. The shooter was revealed by law enforcement to have engraved his ammunition casings with Antifa and transgender slogans.
After a 33-hour manhunt, Robinson was turned over to the authorities. It was later revealed that Robinson lived with his romantic partner, Lance Twiggs, a male who was transitioning to a female. Some in pro-trans online circles appeared to have advanced knowledge of the plot and later celebrated the horrific murder, The Gateway Pundit reported.
Trump on Sunday confirmed that a large group of leftists and those funding the leftwing violence are “already under major investigation.”
President Trump last month called for far-left billionaire George Soros and his son, Alex Soros, to be investigated and charged under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) for being the main funders and supporters of violent far-left rioters.
President Trump is expected to discuss the investigation and Charlie Kirk's assassination in the Oval Office today.
The ceremony and press conference are scheduled to begin at 4 pm ET.
Update: New Jersey Doctor Who “Cheered” Charlie Kirk’s Murder Resigns (Video)

The Gateway Pundit reported on the story of nurse Lexi Kuenzle, who was placed on leave after publicly sharing the disturbing behavior of a doctor following Charlie Kirk’s political assassination.
According to Kuenzle, Dr. Matthew Jung, a doctor at Englewood Health, told a group that included healthcare professionals and a patient that Kirk “had it coming” and “deserved it.”
Kuenzle reported the incident to management and shared it on her private Instagram. Kuenzle then received an email from her union representative saying that she needed to “look for another job.”
Lexi was later pulled into a meeting and suspended pending an investigation.
After her story received national attention, Fox News reports that Jung has now resigned from his position.
Englewood Health says it “diligently investigated” the September 10 incident “between a doctor and a nurse in a patient care area.” The update came after nurse Lexi Kuenzle, 33, sued Englewood Health and Dr. Matthew Jung, alleging that Jung “cheered and celebrated” Charlie Kirk’s assassination in comments made in front of patients and hospital staff, and that she was suspended after she reported him.
While the findings of the hospital’s investigation have not been disclosed, a spokesperson for the healthcare provider told Fox News Digital in an email that it has “[a]ccepted the physician’s resignation, and the nurse is expected to work her scheduled shifts.”
A hospital spokesperson added, “The nurse was never fired; was never told she would be fired by Englewood Hospital; and will not miss any pay as part of our review of this matter.”
Activist Scott Pressler shared her story and interviewed Lexi by phone following the initial incident. She told him at the time, “I was deeply saddened over the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It was devastating to hear of the killing of an innocent father and I thought everyone would agree — especially a doctor whose purpose is to save lives.”
“In a time where personal social ideologies are often celebrated, especially if they align with popular progressive topics, I simply aimed to stand up for what is right. They tried to shut me up, but they’re not going to.”
‘New Torch of Conservatism’: Danny Kruger First Tory Sitting MP To Defect to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK as Party Becomes Leading Political Force in Britain (VIDEOS)

Ruling Labour is floundering, and decadent Tories are fading away, as Reform UK solidifies itself as a major contender for power.
The historic British balance of power between Tories and Labour has been shattered, with the new Reform UK party now showing in the polls as the absolute leader in vote intentions for the next elections.
Farage’s Reform UK is becoming the largest political force in the Kingdom.
The party led by Brexit hero Nigel Farage has become a magnet for people wanting change – and not only voters, but even members of Parliament.
Tory frontbencher Danny Kruger has become the first sitting Conservative MP to ‘defect’ to Reform, stating that Nigel Farage’s party bears the “new torch of conservatism”.
“The MP for East Wiltshire announced on Monday he would cross the floor to Reform and work with Zia Yusuf, a senior member of Mr. Farage’s team, on preparing the party for government.
[…] Mr. Kruger said he was fond of many Tory MPs, but that the “failure of the Conservative Party has created space for an alternative”.
He said: ‘The flame is passing from one torch to another. The old torch, once so great, is guttering, fluttering, held weakly in uncertain hands, but the new torch is already alight, already brighter than the one it is replacing, held aloft in firm and confident hands’.”

“’It’s going to be difficult because we are planning change on a scale that the system has not seen since the modern Civil Service was created in the 19th century’, he said.
‘This work is going to be hard, and it will be opposed by the system, and that’s why we need to be radical, taking on the vested interests and the incumbents who always defend the status quo’.”
The defection of an unapologetically devout and thoughtful Christian like Danny Kruger is a welcome signal that a future Reform government will take Britain’s 1500-year-old faith traditions seriously. https://t.co/h7c4J6mxo7
