Clancy Copycat Corie Walsh Also Planned to Kill Husband After Hanging Two Year Old Son, Prosecutors Say

Illinois mother Corie Walsh, who had a reported obsession with Lindsay Clancy when she allegedly killed her 2-year-old son, also plotted to kill her husband, according to prosecutors.

Walsh was arrested and charged with murder after two-year-old Barrett “Bear” Walsh was found hanging from the rafters in the basement of her Chicago home.

She “had recently become very invested in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial,” a witness told police following the horrific crime. She had also been “actively discussing the case via group text message with her friends,” until just hours before hanging her two-year-old, according to court documents.

And of course, an attorney for Walsh claims she was “experiencing a psychotic episode.”

During her first court appearance on Tuesday, defense attorney Robert Kerr added that she "was severely mental ill at the time of incident and requires treatment." He added that she was diagnosed with "brief psychotic disorder."

Prosecutors presented new details in court as they try to keep her in pre-trial detention.

Prosecutors said that Walsh was found in a bloody bathtub after a suicide attempt by two other children who live in the home after returning home from school. They ran to their neighbor for help, but the two-year-old already had no pulse.

An 8-month-old child was also found in a room, alone on the ground.

She also had plans to "poison" her husband.

Walsh was ultimately found by the neighbor fully clothed, in a bathtub with bloody water, having injuries to her wrist and thighs, prosecutors said. She told authorities at the time she killed her son because "he was the devil" and "anti Christ," the court docs showed.

She later made statements saying she intended to harm her husband when he arrived home, saying she would "poison him with a drink," prosecutors said, noting that she also believed she had killed her other children as well.

She had drinks at home and a number of prescription bottles, they added.

Defense attorneys argued, however, that she was in a state of psychosis when she attempted to take her own life and when she made statements to law enforcement and hospital staff.

Walsh is due in court again on September 24.
