Air Force One made a sudden U-turn as it passed Long Island less than an hour after President Donald Trump departed for Davos, Switzerland, according to flight trackers.

After minutes of concern among Trump supporters online, the White House told reporters a minor electrical issue prompted the turnback and that Trump would board another plane at Joint Base Andrews for the trip to Davos.

Nick Sorter was one of the first to report on the sudden U-turn, adding that a motorcade was seen speeding through D.C. toward Andrews.

After takeoff, the crew on AF1 identified “a minor electrical issue” and, out of an abundance of caution, we are turning around, landing at Joint Base Andrews and boarding new aircraft, per press secretary Karoline Leavitt.

(Note from your pooler: the lights in the press cabin went out briefly after takeoff but no explanation was offered.)

Leavitt made a joke about the Qatari jet sounding “much better” right now.

This will obviously delay our arrival in Zurich. We will keep you updated as best we can. We’re expected to land at JBA at 11 PM.

The president of Brandeis University in Massachusetts recently warned that up to a quarter of American colleges and universities could close permanently in the coming years. This is not necessarily a bad thing and is almost unavoidable.

Higher education in the United States is on a path that is not sustainable. It has gotten to the point where almost no one can afford to attend college without going into massive debt. People emerge from college with this debt and unless they have studied to be a doctor or lawyer, their job prospects are far from guranteed.

Plus, colleges have moved so far to the radical left that they are completely out of step with average Americans. If they end up closing, it is by their own doing.

A university president is warning that up to a quarter of colleges and universities in the United States could close in the coming years.

Arthur Levine, president of Brandeis University in Massachusetts, said during a recent conversation at the American Enterprise Institute he expects between 20–25% of American colleges and universities to close their doors.

“Basically, what’s happening is that higher education is undergoing a transformation,” Levine said.

“Our whole society is undergoing a transformation,” he added. “We’re watching what was a national analog industrial economy become a global digital knowledge economy. And the consequence of that, in terms of higher education, is that we’re seeing demographic change, economic change, technological change, global change, now political change. And what’s going to happen is that 20-25%, as you know, of all colleges are going to close.”

“Traditional higher education as we know it — research universities, residential colleges — are where the transformation is going to occur,” Levine said. “It’s only occurred once before, during the Industrial Revolution, when tiny, little church-related colleges became universities and technical schools and land grant colleges and community colleges and research institutes and graduate schools and all the rest. And, this time, what I essentially said to our faculty was, ‘We’re going to see the same pattern of change we’ve always seen.’”

In Indiana, Republicans are already redirecting funds from colleges to trade schools. This is smart.

Indiana is eliminating over 400 low-enrollment degree programs at public universities and shifting those resources to support trade education and school choice expansion.

The changes reflect a statewide strategy to align education funding with job market needs and reduce spending on degrees with limited career value.

The state is facing a significant shortage of skilled labor, prompting lawmakers to prioritize training in high-demand fields such as electrical work, automotive repair, and other technical trades, WDRB reports. Community colleges and certification programs are receiving increased support as faster, more cost-effective alternatives to four-year degrees.

Higher education needs a massive overhaul and they are going to get it one way or another.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is trying his best to downplay the invasion of a Minnesota church by unhinged anti-ICE activists, going so far as to suggest that there are no grounds for federal charges.

George Washington University Law Professor Jonathan Turley disagrees.

Turley made the point that there are multiple violations here and that Ellison is just acting as if he was a member of Antifa.

Turley writes at his site:

One would think that a mob action against a church would be something that would transcend political divisions as a grotesque and chilling act. If you thought that, you do not know Keith Ellison.

Notably, in the CNN interview, Host Erin Burnett raised the incident due to its “bad optics” as opposed to the outrageous attack on a house of faith. Yet, Ellison was not even willing to take that lead in objecting to the simple optics as opposed to the denial of religious exercise. He insisted that this is “a First Amendment activity” and not a crime.

He is wrong. Protesting outside of the church is a First Amendment activity. Disrupting church services and abusing congregants inside the church is conduct, not speech.

Ellison is supposed to enforce state law without favoritism. Instead, he attacked the Trump Administration, saying, “If Trump likes you, you can do no wrong.” There may be good-faith concerns over critics being targeted by this Administration. However, Ellison is the last person who should raise such objections.

There is not even a suggestion of self-awareness as Ellison dismisses any enforcement of his own laws against protesters who trespassed and engaged in disorderly conduct — putting aside the targeting and disruption of religious services.

Putting aside his own refusal to investigate or prosecute, Ellison has also declared that there are no grounds for federal charges. He is wrong. There are a variety of possible federal laws that could be enforced.

This is far from over, but Ellison, Lemon, and others are going to face some kind of justice over this incident. They crossed a line.

Betsy Sarcone even said that she was willing to vote for Biden at one point but that watching him do nothing about the open border for four years helped to change her mind.

“I’m happy” is Sarcone’s take on Trump’s first year back in power. “I got what I voted for. And I think Trump has proved himself. There’s that saying, ‘Trump is always right. Trump was right about everything.’ That’s kind of how I am feeling right now.”

That is a dramatic change.

Sarcone was an early Ron DeSantis supporter in 2024, then switched to Haley. Back then, she said she would vote for Joe Biden if Trump won the GOP nomination.

“I just can’t put my rubber stamp on Trump having more influence over this country,” Sarcone told us in August 2023. “I view Trump as not having any personal responsibility.”

“I think Biden probably changed me more than Trump,” Sarcone said. “Watching nothing be done, for four years, about an open border.”

Now, she gives Trump an A-minus for his first year. She says the economy is beginning to pick up, and she can look past some of the tone and character issues she raised about Trump when we first met.
