President Donald Trump has announced an immediate increase in global tariffs from 10% to 15%, in response to what he described as a “ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American” ruling by the United States Supreme Court that struck down his previous emergency tariffs.

Trump issued a statement on Saturday making it clear that he’s using his full presidential authority to implement this change.

The tariffs apply to countries worldwide, many of which, as Trump pointed out, have been “ripping” the U.S. off for decades without any pushback until his administration stepped in.

“Based on a thorough, detailed, and complete review of the ridiculous, poorly written, and extraordinarily anti-American decision on Tariffs issued yesterday, after MANY months of contemplation, by the United States Supreme Court, please let this statement serve to represent that I, as President of the United States of America, will be, effective immediately, raising the 10% Worldwide Tariff on Countries, many of which have been ‘ripping’ the U.S. off for decades, without retribution (until I came along!), to the fully allowed, and legally tested, 15% level,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“During the next short number of months, the Trump Administration will determine and issue the new and legally permissible Tariffs, which will continue our extraordinarily successful process of Making America Great Again – GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE!!!” Trump added.

Trump concluded with his iconic, “Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

The boost is a five percent increase from the tariffs he had put in place the night before.

“It is my Great Honor to have just signed, from the Oval Office, a Global 10% Tariff on all Countries, which will be effective almost immediately,” Trump wrote in a post on Friday evening.

Earlier in the day on Friday, the Supreme Court issued a 6-3 decision saying that the president does not have authority to implement tariffs under the specific emergency powers law that he used.

Trump responded to the news by calling out justices directly.

“What happened today with the two United States Supreme Court Justices that I appointed against great opposition, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett, whether people like it or not, never seems to happen with Democrats. They vote against the Republicans, and never against themselves, almost every single time, no matter how good a case we have. At least I didn’t appoint Roberts, who led the effort to allow Foreign Countries that have been ripping us off for years to continue to do so — But we won’t let it happen. The new TARIFFS, totally tested and accepted as Law, are on their way! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Nearly half of the potential jurors in a class-action lawsuit against Elon Musk were dismissed during selection after admitting they could not remain impartial, with many outright saying that they “hate” him.

The case, playing out in a liberal stronghold, really displays the biases against conservatives within the judicial system.

Jury selection for the trial began this week in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, presided over by Judge Charles R. Breyer.

Breyer, a Clinton appointee and younger brother of former Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, began jury selection by commenting to the lawyers for both sides that Musk had achieved a level of fame that was “like the President of the United States,” and even if they “search the entire country,” it would probably be nearly impossible to find someone who did not have some sort of opinion about Musk.

“As a public figure he will excite strong views, and for him in particular, people have strong views,” Breyer added. “The question is, and courts are very clear about this, is whether they can set them aside.”

Finding nine jurors who could put their opinions about Musk aside to be properly fair and impartial took over five hours.

Out of a pool of 93 prospective jurors, 40 were immediately excused after raising their hands to indicate they could not set aside their personal biases against Musk.

Juror questionnaires also revealed deep-seated animosity.

One potential juror stated he could be impartial in a civil case but would feel a “moral obligation” to convict Musk and send him to prison if it were a criminal trial.

Another disagreed “with the existence of billionaires” altogether.

A woman expressed hatred for Musk’s mass layoffs of Twitter’s content moderators after his acquisition of the platform.

Musk’s attorney, Stephen Broome, remarked during the proceedings that “so many people hate Musk that we’re becoming desensitized.” He added that in typical cases, a questionnaire response indicating hatred would lead to automatic dismissal.

The class-action suit was filed by Twitter investors who allege that Musk violated federal securities laws during his protracted, public indecision about purchasing the company in 2022.

Plaintiffs claim Musk’s actions were a scheme to drive down the share price before he ultimately completed the $44 billion acquisition in October 2022, causing them financial harm.

The trial is expected to last about three weeks, with potential witnesses including Musk himself and former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal.

While many made jokes about the situation, it really does raise the question of whether fair trials are possible for conservative figures in heavily Democratic jurisdictions.

The trial is set to begin on March 2.

HUD Secretary Scott Turner has announced a proposed rule aimed at closing a longstanding loophole that allows illegal aliens to benefit from taxpayer-funded public housing.

The measure, part of the Trump administration’s broader immigration enforcement efforts, seeks to ensure that only qualified American citizens and eligible noncitizens receive HUD assistance.

The rule change will target “mixed-status households,” where illegal aliens live with family members who qualify for subsidies.

Under current regulations, subsidies are prorated based on eligible members, but the new proposal would require proof of eligibility for each household member, effectively barring those without legal status.

Turner emphasized that this change would prioritize American taxpayers, telling Breitbart News:

“There is a decades-old loophole in our regulation right now called mixed-status household that we’re closing with our new proposed rule of qualified citizens, we will guarantee that the people that receive HUD-funded housing are American people.”

In a Washington Post op-ed published the day before the announcement, Turner highlighted the scale of the issue, noting that approximately 24,000 ineligible noncitizens currently reside in HUD-subsidized housing.

He described the policy as ending the “era of illegal aliens and other ineligible noncitizens exploiting public housing resources,” arguing that limited funding and long waitlists make it unfair for Americans to subsidize those here illegally.

The proposal revives a similar initiative from Trump’s first term and requires local housing authorities to report ineligible tenants to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

Critics, including housing advocates, warn that it could lead to evictions for tens of thousands, including U.S. citizen children in mixed families, potentially causing family separations or homelessness.

Turner and supporters maintain it’s a necessary step to enforce existing laws under Section 214 of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1980.

In his Post op-ed, Turner explained:

HUD’s proposed rule enforcing Section 214 is part of our broader campaign to crack down on illegal and ineligible aliens siphoning public assistance from the American people. We terminated access to FHA-insured mortgages for individuals who do not meet lawful residency requirements. We announced a crime hotline for residents in HUD-funded housing to report illegal aliens and other criminals. And we have strengthened law-enforcement coordination with DHS to stop the flow of funds to illegals.

Former late-night talk show host Conan O’Brien has made his first public comments on the murder of director Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, who were killed just hours after attending his holiday party.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Rob and Michele Reiner were stabbed to death, allegedly by their son, Nick Reiner, at their Los Angeles home on December 14.

Hours before the gruesome murder took place, Rob, Michele, and Nick all attended O’Brien’s Holiday party on the night of December 13.

O’Brien, in an interview with the New Yorker on the topic of Reiner’s death, shared, “My wife and I were seeing them a lot, and they were just such lovely people.”

He added, “And to have that experience of saying good night to somebody and having them leave and then find out the next day that they’re gone.”

Conan O’Brien is sharing his shock over the deaths of his good friends Rob and Michele Reiner.

Hours before the When Harry Met Sally… filmmaker, 78, and his photographer-producer wife Michele, 70, were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Dec. 14 — and their son Nick arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder — all three Reiners attended O’Brien’s Dec. 13 holiday party.

“I knew Rob and Michele, and then increasingly got closer and closer to them,” O’Brien, 62, said in a new interview with The New Yorker, adding that he and his wife, Liza Powel O’Brien, “were seeing them a lot.”

“They were just such lovely people,” he said of Rob and Michele. “And to have that experience of saying good night to somebody and having them leave and then find out the next day that they’re gone…. I think I was in shock for quite a while afterward. I mean, there’s no other word for it.”

According to Fox 11 Los Angeles, during O’Brien’s party, Nick Reiner got into an argument with his parents, leading both Rob and Michele to leave early.

One party guest noted, “He (Nick) didn’t talk to anybody. He just kept to himself with a blank stare on his face, like no emotion. And he didn’t look well.”

Nick Reiner is currently being held in jail without bond.
