A father in Maine has filed a lawsuit against his son’s school district, accusing them of failing to provide children an opportunity to recite the Pledge of Allegiance during the school day.

The lawsuit, filed against the Falmouth School Department and Superintendent Steve Nolan, alleges that the district is violating Maine law, according to the Portland Press Herald.

The statute in question dates back to 2011 and is posted on the legislature’s official website.

“A school administrative unit shall allow every student enrolled in the school administrative unit the opportunity to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at some point during a school day in which students are required to attend,” the statute reads. “A school administrative unit may not require a student to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.”

The plaintiff, Christopher Hickey, reportedly filed the lawsuit on behalf of his son, Clayton, a 10th-grader who has attended Falmouth High School for two years.

WGME-TV cited an affidavit from Clayton stating that neither he nor his classmates were ever given a chance to recite the pledge during the school day.

In addition to the school providing an opportunity for all students to recite the Pledge of Allegiance in a structured way, Hickey also wants a letter of apology from the Falmouth School Department.

The courts will likely have to determine what constitutes an “opportunity to recite the Pledge;” however, the lawsuit states that it has not been shared over the school’s intercom or led by teachers in the classroom, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Local Army veterans spoke with WGME-TV and said such expressions of patriotism are vital to a healthy nation.

“Our students don’t get enough citizenship instruction. And that’s the least they can do, I think,” said Army veteran Chris Winne. “You know, it represents so much to not only veterans, but the entire community and our country. And so I don’t see any bad in it, only good.”

“I think you should always do the Pledge of Allegiance in the high school,” Falmouth Army veteran James Richardson added. “It’s what makes America America. That’s part of [taking]  pride in our country.”

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer subpoenaed Attorney General Pam Bondi for a deposition on Tuesday as she comes under continued scrutiny for her handling of the Epstein files and potential noncompliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

The deposition is scheduled for April 14, 2026.

Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche are also scheduled to give a private briefing to Oversight Committee members on Wednesday.

In an attached letter to Bondi, Comer expressed concern over noncompliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act, signed into law by President Trump last November, and “possible mismanagement” of the investigation into Epstein and his associates.

“The Committee on Oversight and Government Reform (Committee) is reviewing the possible mismanagement of the federal government’s investigation of Mr. Jeffrey Epstein and Ms. Ghislaine Maxwell, the circumstances and subsequent investigations of Mr. Epstein’s death, the operation of sex-trafficking rings and ways for the federal government to effectively combat them, the ways in which Mr. Epstein and Ms. Maxwell sought to curry favor and exercise influence to protect their illegal activities, and potential violations of ethics rules related to elected officials,” Comer wrote in the letter.

“The Committee has questions regarding the Department of Justice’s handling of the investigation into Jeffrey Epstein and his associates and its compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act. As Attorney General, you are directly responsible for overseeing the Department’s collection, review, and determinations regarding the release of files pursuant to the Epstein Files Transparency Act, and the Committee therefore believes that you possess valuable insight into these efforts.”

This comes after Bondi’s tranwreck testimony on the Epstein files last month, where she got grilled by the Democrats, refused to answer questions, was accused of perjury, and came off as unhinged and terrified throughout the roughly 5-hour-long hearing.

The Gateway Pundit reported on one exchange between Bondi and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), where she desperately attacked him when backed into a corner on why the Department of Justice redacted the names of Epstein coconspirators like billionaire and former Victoria’s Secret CEO Les Wexner.

Instead of answering his questions, Bondi lost it and shouted, “This guy has Trump derangement syndrome!” She then called him “a failed politician,” later slamming him as a “hypocrite.”

Bondi subsequently came under additional fire for a perceived cover-up on behalf of Epstein associates and coconspirators and her February 14 report, claiming that all Epstein files had been released.

Bondi claimed in her report that "No records were withheld or redacted 'on the basis of embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity, including to any government official, public figure, or foreign dignitary," but several Lawmakers weren't pleased.

Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) later accused Bondi of "withholding information and files" and enabling Democrats to "paint the President in a bad light when his actions were the opposite."

"So poorly managed, heads should roll," Mace said of Bondi's handling of the Epstein files. "SHAME ON THE DOJ."

So, now, even a pro-Ukraine outlet like The Telegraph ridicules his newest tour with a headline that would be unthinkable a couple of years ago: ‘Zelensky’s ‘don’t forget about me’ tour exposes panic in Ukraine.’

But the fact remains: Ukraine’s fate lost the world’s interest, as the air-defense missiles that Kiev so need are being exhausted against Iranian attacks across the Middle East.

President Trump expressed displeasure with other countries for turning down his request to send their militaries to the Strait of Hormuz to protect oil tankers as Israel and the US wage war against Iran, saying that the US will remember the refusal. 

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump on Saturday claimed, “Many Countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending War Ships, in conjunction with the United States of America, to keep the Strait open and safe.”

He specifically called out “China, France, Japan, South Korea, the UK, and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint,” saying securing the Strait “should have always been a team effort, and now it will be.”

However, the countries quickly rebuffed his demand and instead called for and instead urged the United States to end the war.

Trump responded to their declination of his proposition on Tuesday during a bilateral meeting with Taoiseach of Ireland Micheál Martin, saying, "We don't need help."

Trump further said he was "surprised" that NATO allies, while supportive of the war, "don't want to help."

"This was a great test because we don't need them, but they should have been there," he said, noting that "we as the United States have to remember that, because we think it's pretty shocking."

Trump: You know, despite the fact that we help them so much, we have thousands of soldiers in different countries all over the world, and they don't want to help us, which is amazing. I mean, amazing. And I didn't do a full court press because I think if I did, they probably would be but we don't need help. You know, we've, we've that war is, has been long prosecuted, as far as I'm concerned, almost from day one. We knocked out many of these things. We knocked out the Navy, essentially in a couple of days. But I was surprised to see that NATO, while they agreed that it was a very important thing to do— they agree fully, nobody said, Oh, you shouldn't do it.

They would have had a nuclear weapon within one month of when we had the B2 bombers bomb, the nuclear potential, the I call it the nuclear dust. So, I think NATO is making a very foolish mistake. And I've long said that, you know, I wonder whether or not NATO would ever be there for us. So, this is a, this was a great test because we don't need them, but they should have been there. The other thing is, and I think, you know, very important, we didn't have to be there for Ukraine. You know, Biden chose to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on Ukraine.

And I guess the head of Germany just made a statement that, well, they weren't involved, and they have nothing to do with the war, but at the same time, they think we did a great thing by knocking them out. Nobody wants to have, nobody wants to have Iran or anybody, but nobody wants to Iran with a nuclear because these people are crazy. They're absolutely crazy and they're vicious, violent. I mean, they killed. Think of it, they killed, now I hear it's about 41,000 people. They put out a notice two days ago, anybody that protests will be immediately shot and killed. That's pretty tough stuff. So, everyone agrees with us, but they don't want to help. And we, you know, we as the United States have to remember that because we think it's pretty shocking.

Earlier, Trump put out a statement on Truth Social, slamming the NATO alliance a "one way street" and declaring that their assistance won't be needed.

"I am not surprised by their action, however, because I always considered NATO, where we spend Hundreds of Billions of Dollars per year protecting these same Countries, to be a one way street — We will protect them, but they will do nothing for us, in particular, in a time of need. Fortunately, we have decimated Iran’s Military — Their Navy is gone, their Air Force is gone, their Anti-Aircraft and Radar is gone and perhaps, most importantly, their Leaders, at virtually every level, are gone, never to threaten us, our Middle Eastern Allies, or the World, again!" Trump said.

"Because of the fact that we have had such Military Success, we no longer 'need,' or desire, the NATO Countries’ assistance — WE NEVER DID! Likewise, Japan, Australia, or South Korea. In fact, speaking as President of the United States of America, by far the Most Powerful Country Anywhere in the World, WE DO NOT NEED THE HELP OF ANYONE!"
