Rattlesnake Danger Growing in Southern California After Second Deadly Bite in Weeks

Rattlesnake Danger Growing in Southern California After Second Deadly Bite in Weeks

Rattlesnake coiled on a dirt road, showcasing its distinctive patterns and rattle, with a blurred natural background.

A deadly pattern is beginning to emerge on Southern California trails.

In just a matter of weeks, multiple rattlesnake encounters have turned dangerous, and two people have died after being bitten.

Others have narrowly survived their own harrowing encounters. The incidents are raising new concerns about an uptick in dangerous encounters with venomous snakes.

According to a report from People magazine, a 46-year-old woman died after a bite earlier this month.

Gabriela Bautista was hiking at Wildwood Regional Park in Ventura County on March 14.

According to KTLA, she was bitten just before noon and was airlifted to a hospital, but died five days later, on March 19.

Officials said the cause was rattlesnake venom toxicity.

Her death came as another bite was reported nearby.

A teenage girl was bitten near the Wendy Drive Trailhead in Thousand Oaks, California, on March 20.

First responders reached her on the trail and transported her to a hospital. She survived with minor injuries.

The cluster of incidents does not stop there.

Earlier this year, 18-year-old Julian Hernandez was bitten while mountain biking at the Quail Hill Trailhead in Orange County.

According to KNBC, he attempted to ride to safety. He later fell into a coma and died on March 4.

In total, Ventura County firefighters have responded to four rattlesnake bites since March 14 alone. The county recorded only nine total bites last year. Experts said the danger is real, but preventable.

The University of California noted that rattlesnakes are the only venomous snakes native to the state.

They are typically identified by triangular heads, spotted bodies, and a distinctive rattle.

Despite the alarming headlines, experts stress that panic is not the answer.

Dr. Jeffrey Suchard, an emergency medicine physician and medical toxicologist, advised finding a hospital immediately.

“There is no intervention at the scene of a venomous snakebite that is recommended,” he said.

Suchard warned against common myths, such as cutting open the wound and trying to suck out venom.

Bite victims are told to remain calm and seek medical care as quickly as possible.

WATCH: “It’s a Shame” – Trump Says Thune and Senate Republicans “Playing it Too Soft” and Calls for Termination of the Filibuster When Asked About Garbage DHS Funding Bill, Calls the Democrats “Terrorists”
March 29, 2026

President Trump demanded that Senate Republicans get tough and nuke the filibuster, noting that RINO Senate Leader John Thune needs to actually lead and whip up the votes on Sunday evening.

While speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, Trump went off on the Democrats, calling them “sick” and likening them to terrorists for their attempts to defund ICE and protect illegal aliens.

When asked about the garbage funding bill that Senate Republicans passed in the middle of the night to reopen the government without funding for ICE, Trump said, “It’s a shame” and that Senate Republicans are “playing it too soft” by failing to take necessary action. “They should terminate the filibuster, and they should vote,” Trump said.

“Terminate the filibuster, just vote, and you’ll get everything you want.”

Trump was further asked to respond to John Thune’s claims that they don’t have enough votes to terminate the filibuster, and he said, “Well, he’s only a couple of votes short, but that’s what being a leader is.” Still, Trump refused to condemn Thune, telling reporters, “I like him so much. He’s a high-quality person.”

WATCH:

Reporter: Starts being having very good meetings, both directly and indirectly. And I think we’re getting a lot of very important Were you caught off guard when the Senate passed the DHS funding bill?

Trump: It’s a shame. They should really just go to a filibuster. They should terminate the filibuster, and they should vote. That’s what I think. I think the Senate is playing it too soft. The Republicans are wonderful people, but we’re dealing with very sick individuals. The Democrats are sick. There’s something wrong. They’re like terrorists, and we have to protect our country, we have to protect our border, have to protect our wall. If it was up to them, they’d open up the wall, they’d let millions of people pour into our country again, and we’ve all been through that. And I don’t care if you’re liberal or conservative, what we have now is we have a beautiful, closed border.

We’re getting murders out of our country that Biden let in, the administration, the Democrats. We’re getting the drug lords out of our country, we’re bringing them back to other countries where they came from, from all over the world, we have great crime numbers, despite the fact that they let in 25 million people, and we’re focused on the bad ones, the ones that came in. We’ll work on something. But we have to get the killers out. We have to get the drug dealers out. We have to get the criminally insane. We have people that are criminally insane. They are unbelievably violent people that come out of insane asylums. The Democrats want them protected. I want them out. They have to be out. You can’t have a country if they’re here.

Reporter: Leader Thune told me that they do not have the votes to terminate the filibuster. How will you get around that?

Trump: I know, but that’s part of being a leader. You have to get the votes.

Reporter: Do you have confidence in Leader Thune?

Trump: I mean, I like him so much. He’s a high-quality person, and he told me the same thing: “We don’t have the votes.” Well, he’s only a couple of votes short, but that’s what being a leader is. You have to get the votes. You have to get the votes, and those people will not be able to withstand the onslaught because Republicans and the country want it. You know, it’s polling at 87%, voter ID. Think of it. We’re talking about Save America, and it’s not the SAVE Act. It’s SAVE America Act because it’s saving America. SAVE act, nobody knows what it’s saving. It’s the SAVE America Act.

And you have to have it. You have to have it, the SAVE AMERICA Act, voter ID, all these things, proof of citizenship. It’s an 87% issue with all voters, including Democrats! The only ones that don’t want it are Schumer and these corrupt Democrat leaders because it will not give them the ability to cheat in an election. Look, why wouldn’t you want voter ID? There’s not a reason in the world you wouldn’t want it, except to cheat. And if they don’t cheat, their policy is so bad, they’ll never win another election.

Thune now faces calls for his removal as Senate Leader.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) went off on Thune over his failure to reopen the government or pass the SAVE America Act.

“You, as a member of the media, ought to be disgusted to the fact they passed that thing at 2:25 in the morning, and left all the other senators kind of hanging,” Burchett told Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich, slamming Thune for cutting a deal with Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer.

Bank of America to Pay $72.5M Settlement Over Epstein Lawsuit

Bank of America to Pay $72.5M Settlement Over Epstein Lawsuit

Bank of America to Pay $72.5M Settlement Over Epstein Lawsuit
March 29, 2026

Bank of America is paying $72.5 million to settle a federal lawsuit claiming it enabled sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

The lawsuit claimed Bank of America ignored “obvious red flags” while doing business with Epstein and his associates, according to the New York Post.

The bank, so the lawsuit claimed, could have brought law enforcement down upon Epstein sooner if it had adopted a see-no-evil policy. Epstein died in 2019 in a federal jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Bank of America is the third bank to settle a lawsuit linked to Epstein. JPMorgan Chase ponied up for $290 million. Deutsche Bank settled for $75 million.

In a statement, a Bank of America representative said, “While we stand by our prior statements made in the filings in this case, including that Bank of America did not facilitate sex-trafficking crimes, this resolution allows us to put this matter behind us and provides further closure for the plaintiffs,” according to The New York Times.

Bank of America became Epstein’s bank after JPMorgan cut ties with him.

The settlement would pay “all women who were sexually abused or trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein, or by any person who is connected to or otherwise associated with Jeffrey Epstein or any Jeffrey Epstein sex-trafficking venture, between June 30, 2008 and July 6, 2019, inclusive,” according to CNBC.

Lawyers estimate “that there are at least 60 women who were victimized by Epstein between” those dates, the filing said.

The lead plaintiff  alleged that after meeting Epstein in 2011, and through 2019, “Epstein sexually abused Jane Doe on at least 100 occasions, including but not limited to, forcibly touching her, forcibly raping her, and forcing her to engage in sexual acts with other women for his own depraved sexual gratification.”

The suit says that in May 2013, the woman, known in court papers as Jane Doe opened a bank account at Bank of America at the direction of Epstein’s accountant and an immigration attorney to defraud immigration officials.

“At the heart of the Amended Complaint, Lead Plaintiff alleges that Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking venture was facilitated and enabled by [Bank of America] helping Epstein avoid regulators’ scrutiny and providing Epstein with withdrawal and wire services, all so Defendant could profit from Epstein and his associates,” the filing about the settlement said.

“Lead Plaintiff further alleges that Defendant’s assistance to Epstein’s sex trafficking enterprise prevented the authorities from discovering his illegal scheme and increased the size and scale of Epstein’s access to and control of victims, causing damage to members of the Class,” the filing said.

The lawsuit said Epstein paid Jane Doe’s  expenses using a Bank of America account, and held her status as animmigrant  “over her head, until her ultimate escape when Jeffrey Epstein died,” according to CBS.

Sigrid McCawley, a lawyer for the victims, said the deal  was “one more step on the road to much deserved justice,” according to the BBC.

Rep. Eric Swalwell on Saturday responded to news of a renewed FBI probe into his relationship with Fang Fang, the Chinese honeypot who infiltrated his congressional campaign from 2011 to 2015.

Swalwell told CNN’s Jim Sciutto that the members of the Trump administration are “dangerous individuals” and claimed that the investigation is only happening because he’s sued the Trump campaign, helped lead an impeachment during Trump’s first term, and is running for Governor of California.

WATCH:

Sciutto: As I believe you know that he has now restarted an investigation of you, which the FBI previously conducted and found no accusation or evidence of wrongdoing. Do you suspect, because this wouldn’t be the first time, that this is politically motivated?

Swalwell: I suspect it’s politically motivated. Jim. I have the only lawsuit that has survived this presidency; It’s me in the January 6 officers. I was an impeachment manager, I worked with Adam Schiff on the Russia investigation, and I’m a candidate for governor, and Californians start voting in about 35 days.

So, these are dangerous individuals who have gone after over 500 political opponents and organizations, Donald Trump and the FBI. And we know that they want a Western White House. There’s a threat right now that two Republicans will get through in the top-two primary in California. This is an effort to knock out the person who’s been in the lead.

And Kash Patel, by the way, in his own book called “Government Gangsters,” has a list of government gangsters. I’m not on the list. I’m above the list. Adam Schiff and I are in the prelude to that list, but Californians know better. They are going to pick the next governor, not Donald Trump.

Swalwell has been tweeting about the news all weekend in an attempt to fundraise and build support for his gubernatorial run.

In a statement responding to the reports, Swalwell also wrote,

Through great reporting, we now know the outrageous ends the White House will go to target political opponents.

The reason Trump is so desperately trying to stop me is not because I’m running for Governor of California but because now I’m the favorite.

But Donald Trump and Kash Patel do not get to pick the next Governor.

Californians do.

Patel has reportedly been pushing for the release of investigative files tied to Swalwell’s relationship with the Chinese spy to bring a criminal case against him.

Swalwell reportedly had a sexual relationship with Fang Fang.
