Alaskan brown bear nearly killed two US soldiers

Apex predator versus training army soldiers.

A training session in a mountainous area in Anchorage, Alaska, almost turned into a tragedy on Thursday.

Two US Army soldiers were injured after an attack by an aggressive brown bear.

The New York Post reported:

“The incident happened Thursday as the soldiers were participating in a ‘land navigation training event’ in Arctic Valley, part of the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson’s training area.

The soldiers were receiving medical care as of Friday, a military official told the Anchorage Daily News. Messages sent to base spokespersons were not immediately returned.”

The Army hasn’t released the soldiers’ conditions.

It’s understood that both soldiers used pepper spray on the bear.

“’The safety and well-being of our personnel is our highest priority’, Lt. Col. Jo Nederhoed, a spokesperson for the U.S. Army 11th Airborne Division, said in an email to the Anchorage Daily News.

[…] The area near where the incident occurred has been closed to recreational activity by base officials, the department said.”

The Elmendorf-Richardson base is located in an area where up to 350 black bears and 75 brown bears roam freely.

Failing British PM Starmer at War With Foreign Office To Save Himself, as Critics Say He Scapegoated Senior Civil Servant in Epstein-Linked Peter Mandelson Vetting Scandal
April 18, 2026

While Starmer’s position seems secure at the moment, the scandals keep hiting him non-stop

Peter Mandelson was appointed UK ambassador to the US by Starmer despite having failed the vetting process.

Failing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is lashing out at the Foreign Office for ‘misleading’ him over the vetting of former ambassador to the US, Labour peer Lord Peter Mandelson – a man with deep and shady ties to late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

As we have reported here in TGP, it arose yesterday that Britain’s specialist vetting office advised against giving Mandelson ‘developed vetting’ status, but was overruled by Sir Olly Robbins, the Foreign Office’s top civil servant.

The Telegraph reported:

“On Friday, the Prime Minister said the ‘unforgivable’ behavior of civil servants had led him to claim that ‘due process’ had been followed over Lord Mandelson’s appointment as Britain’s ambassador to the US, when officials had in fact overruled red flags during the Labour peer’s vetting.”

There’s no denying that Starmer misled Parliament about the Mandelson vetting fiasco – he is only insisting that he did not willingly lie – ‘incompetent, but not a liar’, seems to be his line of defense.

“Downing Street accused the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of withholding information about Lord Mandelson, despite ‘repeated’ attempts by No 10 to establish the facts after Sir Keir dismissed the peer from his role last year.”

Starmer will address the Commons on Monday (20) on the Mandelson scandal, and Sir Olly Robbins will appear on Tuesday (21).

Fired, Robins will receive a ‘golden parachute’ of hundreds of thousands of Pounds.

The row will further damage the party’s chances at next month’s local elections.

“One minister told The Telegraph the ‘s—tshow’ meant it was ‘all over’ for the Prime Minister, adding: ‘It’s an inevitable death, but a very slow one’.”

While Starmer’s position as PM seems secure right now, he is politically wounded, and the upcoming defeats at the local elections may finally do him in.

DHS Deports South American Illegal Aliens to Africa as Part of New ‘Safe Third Country’ Agreement

DHS Deports South American Illegal Aliens to Africa as Part of New ‘Safe Third Country’ Agreement
April 18, 2026

The Department of Homeland Security has deported approximately 15 illegal aliens from Latin America to the Democratic Republic of Congo, as part of a bilateral agreement that allows the U.S. to send third-country nationals to African nations when their home countries refuse repatriation or when migrants successfully block removal by claiming their lives would be in danger at home.

The group arrived in Congo’s capital, Kinshasa, early Friday.

An official at the Congolese migration agency confirmed the arrivals to the Associated Press but provided no further details.

U.S. attorney Alma David, who represents one of the deportees, told the Associated Press the migrants are all from Latin America and that the Congolese government plans to keep them in the country for a short period. David said she has been in contact with her client since the arrival.

The deportations are part of the Trump administration’s expanded “Safe Third Country” removal policy.

This approach bypasses legal maneuvers commonly used by migrants who persuade immigration judges that returning to their home country would be unsafe. The policy also addresses cases where countries such as India, China, Vietnam, and Laos refuse to accept their own nationals, particularly those with criminal records.

According to reporting, the Trump administration has now secured agreements with at least seven African nations, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda, Eswatini, and Equatorial Guinea.

Additional deals are under negotiation with more than 40 countries worldwide.

Migrants have previously been sent to Ghana, Rwanda, South Sudan, and Uganda under similar arrangements.

Reuters reported earlier this week that Congo was preparing to accept between 37 and 45 deportees in the initial group, though the confirmed number that arrived was around 15. The Congolese government has described the arrangement as temporary and has stated that the United States will cover all logistical costs.

The policy was revived after the Biden administration canceled several similar Safe Third Country agreements established during Trump’s first term in 2021.

Congressional Democrats have criticized the program, noting in February that the administration had spent roughly $40 million to deport about 300 migrants to third countries.

Administration officials view the strategy as an effective tool that pressures detained migrants to agree to voluntary repatriation to their home countries rather than risk being sent to distant, unfamiliar locations in Africa.

President Donald Trump was once again the featured speaker at Turning Point USA this weekend.

The 45th-47th President focused on his amazing foreign policy successes, especially in Iran and Venezuela.

At one point he warned communist Cuba what awaits them.

President Trump: “Very soon the “great strength” of the American military will create “a new dawn for Cuba.”

That ought to scare the hell out of the dirty Marxists!
