Cole Allen, the 31-year-old alleged gunman who tried to shoot up the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner attended by President Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., Saturday night in an attempt to assassinate Trump and Trump officials, mocked the “incompetence” of the Secret Service in a manifesto sent to family members ten minutes before the attack, according to a report by New York Post reporter Steven Nelson. (Allen’s brother notified New London, CT, police last night about the manifesto.)

An addition to President Trump, the Washington Hilton ballroom was filled with many high-ranking figures and officials including First Lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA), Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, FBI Director Kash Patel and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.

In his manifesto, Allen wrote he was targeting the “highest ranking” official (Trump) on down, with an unexplained exception for Patel:“Administration officials (not including Mr. Patel): they are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest”

Trump has expressed support for the handling of the attack by the Secret Service. Other senior administration officials have stated the security plan worked as the shooter did not gain entry to the ballroom where the dinner was being held and no protectees or guests were harmed.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche on whether the WHCD shooting incident was a security failure:

“To the contrary, this was a massive security success story….this suspect barely breached the perimeter,” Blanche tells @CNN.

Some dinner attendees have said they were surprised by perceived security failures, most notably former Obama and Biden administration official Symone Saunders Townsend:

Allen expressed astonishment that he was able to take weapons into the site of the dinner, the Washington Hilton, without being searched simply because he had a room there:

“if I was an Iranian agent, instead of an American citizen, I could have brought a damn Ma Deuce in here…” (M2 Browning .50-caliber machine gun.)

Federal law enforcement authorities told reporters Allen was armed with a shotgun, a handgun and knives when he rushed the security checkpoint and exchanged gunfire with officers before being tackled and subdued. One Secret Service officer was hit by a bullet in his protective vest, reportedly by Allen, who wrote he might target them:

“Secret Service: they are targets only if necessary, and to be incapacitated non-lethally if possible (aka, I hope they’re wearing body armor because center mass with shotguns messes up people who *aren’t*”

Allen also wrote that if he survived, it would be due to incompetence by the Secret Service. Indeed, Allen emerged unscathed after charging the Secret Service checkpoint, drawing gunfire from agents but not being hit once:

“I would also like to extend my appreciation to a great many people since I will not be likely to be able to talk with them again (unless the Secret Service is *astoundingly* incompetent.)”

The Washington Post reported Allen made it sixty feet past the Secret Service checkpoint:

A former Trump administration official who was inside the ballroom at the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) Dinner on Saturday has described President Donald Trump’s reaction after Secret Service agents rushed him and First Lady Melania Trump off the stage when shots rang out at the Washington Hilton.

Harrison Fields, who served as deputy press secretary during Trump’s first term, was an eyewitness to the situation unfolding as the shooter, Cole Allen, attempted to gain entry to the dinner.

Allen allegedly rushed a Secret Service checkpoint while armed, leading to an exchange of gunfire.

President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and other officials were safely evacuated.

In an interview on Fox & Friends Weekend on Sunday, Fields recounted what happened in the moments after the president was rushed from the stage.

Fields said Secret Service agents quickly formed a human shield around Trump and the First Lady as they were moved to safety. It took more than a minute for those on stage to fully realize the danger amid the confusion and noise.

Once the immediate threat was neutralized, Fields said, President Trump wanted to return to the stage.

“When we heard he wanted to come back out, we all kind of chuckled and said, ‘Of course he does, because that’s exactly who he is,’” Fields explained.

Fields praised Trump’s leadership in the moment, saying the president provided “transparency,” “clarity,” and “reassurance” to everyone present and refused to let fear dictate the response.

Fields also criticized the security situation at the hotel where the event took place.

“There was not a security apparatus leading up to that point,” Fields added, noting the lack of internal checkpoints or buffer zone leading into the main ballroom and VIP areas where cabinet secretaries and senior officials were gathered. “There was no real buffer.”

Allen faces federal charges, including assault on a federal officer and use of a firearm during a crime of violence.

He had checked into the hotel the day before after traveling by train from Los Angeles.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche was on “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream to discuss the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ dinner on Saturday night.

Cole Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, stormed the lobby of the Washington Hilton on Saturday night and opened fire.  President Trump, First Lady Melania, Vance, and others were safely evacuated as the Secret Service took Allen into custody.

Blanche weighed in on the shooting on Sunday morning.

“Let me ask you where we are in this investigation?” Bream asked.

“Do we know anything more about ideology, motive, if he was working alone?” Bream asked.

“Law enforcement, you are right, executed multiple search warrants last night, not only in Los Angeles, but also in Washington DC,” Blanche said.

“What we have learned and what they’ve learned just overnight is that it appears he traveled from Los Angeles through Chicago, to Washington DC, and it appears he traveled by train both during both legs of that trip,” Blanche said.

“The investigation is rapidly developing, and I expect by the time formal charges are filed, which will likely be tomorrow morning, we will have a better sense of what happened,” Blanche continued.

“It appears he was targeting members of the administration, but I say that generally because that is all we know right now,” Blanche explained.

“There are reports that he quote, ‘told law enforcement following his arrest that he did want to shoot Trump administration officials.’ Can you speak to that specifically?” Bream asked.

“Not more specifically than what you just said. I mean look, this is just starting. There’s multiple, there is emails, there’s things we are looking through right now to help us understand what his motivation was,” Blanche said.

“We are talking to witnesses who knew him and we will be doing that law enforcement work through the night, and they’ll work through the day and continue to work to figure out what happened,” Blanche continued.

Bream asked Acting Attorney General Blanche if the alleged gunman traveled by train to avoid detection.

“Does the train spark any red flags for you?” Bream asked.

“It could be the reasons you just described. It could be other reasons. We don’t know whether he had the firearms with him,” Blanche continued.

Blanche explained that since law enforcement was doing their job, the alleged shooter did not get near the President and the administration members.

“There is a lot of talk about how close the alleged gunman got to all of us and President Trump, but the reality is he didn’t really get past the perimeter,” Blanche said.

Cole Tomas Allen of Torrance, California, faces federal charges after the attempted assassination at the Washington Hilton, where President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, and other administration officials were in attendance.

In a manifesto sent to relatives, and since made public, Allen admitted to targeting Trump administration officials, and left writings in his hotel room describing Trump as a “pedophile, rapist, and traitor.”

Allen had checked into the Hilton the day before the event, having traveled by train from Los Angeles.

It has now been revealed that Allen was active on Bluesky under the handle “coldForce,” with eye emojis replacing the “o”s.

The account’s bio described him as “a random Californian guy with posts about American politics, support for Ukraine, and observations of small creatures.”

The profile was suspended shortly after the shooting attempt.

An administration official provided some of the posts from his account to Jack Posobiec at The Post Millennial.

Allen’s posts repeatedly attacked President Trump. He called the president a “known traitor” who ran his campaign “on revenge,” “f-cked up the covid response,” and had “known connections [to a] murderous fucker in the kremlin.”

Responding to a discussion about the Epstein files, Allen wrote, “from the epstein files that have been released, it’s public knowledge that he likely IS basically a sociopathic mob boss. like that’s just literally who he is. people gotta stop treating him like someone who honors agreements.”

In another post, the failed assassin stated, “Trump is literally one of those villains that if you beat his ass hard enough, he’ll join your team.”

“I’m mostly suprised by this administration’s incompetence in fascism, I was expecting actual fighting to have started much earlier,” Allen wrote in another post.

Allen also used gifs and memes that appeared to endorse violence. He responded to a clip of President Trump with a GIF of an animated character delivering a violent slap.

In another instance, reacting to Trump criticizing Democrat-led cities, Allen shared a GIF of a man pumping a long rifle as if preparing to shoot.

In response to reports that the Trump DOJ might consider restrictions on transgender people owning guns, Allen advocated for them to buy guns.

Allen also took issue with Vice President JD Vance, blasting him for saying he was proud the U.S. had stopped funding Ukraine. He expressed repeated frustration over what he saw as insufficient media coverage of the Ukraine-Russia war and the Trump administration’s response to the conflict.

“I choose my own battlefields. Not through my blood, but with my heart. I stand on the battlefield to protect what I want,” Allen wrote in his bio on the leftist platform.

Allen was a part-time teacher at C2 Education in Torrance, where he was named “Teacher of the Month” in December 2024. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Caltech and a master’s in computer science from California State University, Dominguez Hills.

He described himself on LinkedIn as a mechanical engineer, computer scientist, independent game developer, and “teacher by birth.”

“In order to minimize casualties, I will also be using buckshot rather than slugs (less penetration through walls). The would-be assassin, Cole Allen sent an anti-Trump manifesto to his family members right before he stormed the lobby of the Washington Hilton and opened fire on a Secret Service Agent.

President Trump, First Lady Melania, Vice President Vance and others were rushed out of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner after an armed man exchanged gunfire with Secret Service agents.

The President and his entire Cabinet were safely evacuated after shots were fired in the lobby of the Washington Hilton at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The shooter, identified as Cole Allen, 31, of Torrence, California, was taken into custody and charged with using a firearm during a crime of violence and assaulting a federal officer with a dangerous weapon.

The president said a Secret Service Agent was shot during his encounter with Cole Allen.

On Sunday it was revealed that Cole Allen wrote a manifesto and expressed his hatred for “pedophile, rapist” Trump.

Cole Allen’s manifesto sounded like Democrat-media talking points. He called himself a ‘friendly federal assassin.’

The shooter also mocked the Secret Service and said he walked right into the hotel with multiple weapons and no one noticed.

Gunman Cole Allen sent an anti-President Trump manifesto to his family members about 10 minutes before opening fire at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner — calling himself the “Friendly Federal Assassin” and revealing he was trying to kill Trump administration officials, The Post has learned.

“Turning the other cheek is for when you yourself are oppressed. I’m not the person raped in a detention camp. I’m not the fisherman executed without trial,” Allen wrote in the document, which a relative provided to police, a US official said.

“I’m not a schoolkid blown up, or a child starved, or a teenage girl abused by the many criminals in this administration. Turning the other cheek when *someone else* is oppressed is not Christian behavior; it is complicity in the oppressor’s crimes.”

Allen described his targets as including “Administration officials (not including [FBI Director Kash] Patel): they are targets, prioritized from highest-ranking to lowest.”

President Trump addressed Cole Allen’s manifesto in a phone call to Fox News.

“That guy is a sick guy… he hates Christians,” Trump said.
