As turnover within the Trump Administration continues, a former primary rival is reportedly positioning himself to take advantage.

Axios reported on Tuesday that President Trump has told some of his closest advisers and friends that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is “begging” for a job in the president’s administration.

As TGP readers know, DeSantis will be out of job come January because his second term as governor will expire and he is limited to just those two terms.

According to sources Axios spoke with, one of these positions is U.S. Attorney General.

“Ron was begging me to be AG,” Trump allegedly told one confidant.

Trump appears to be open to making DeSantis America’s top law enforcement official, but wants to give acting Attorney General Todd Blanche a shot first.

Per Axios, the President wants Blanche to start actually indicting the people who tried to destroy his life with bogus lawfare cases. This is an area where former Attorney General Pam Bondi came up short.

“Todd has about 90 days to show what he can do,” an adviser told Axios.

But DeSantis appears to prefer two other positions to U.S. Attorney General: Secretary of War and U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

Before Trump ultimately selected Pete Hegseth to run the War Department, he thought about appointing DeSantis instead.

If Hegseth were to depart in the coming months, Trump “would strongly consider” DeSantis as his the replacement.

But DeSantis’s ultimate dream is to be one of nine Supreme Court Justices. He would especially love to replace the great Clarence Thomas should he decide to hang up the robe.

“DeSantis is 100% not interested in the AG job, but he would be interested in two things: War secretary or Supreme Court, which would be his dream job,” another source told Axios.

The source added that DeSantis and Justice Thomas “almost have a father-son relationship and would be a hell of a legacy for Trump.”

Team Trump seems to agree with DeSantis that the Supreme Court or Secretary of War would be a better fit than Attorney General.

“There’s big reason the president wouldn’t pick Ron to be his attorney general: There’s a way-too-high chance he would try to f**k the president over,” another Trump adviser told Axios. “Trump needs someone at Justice he absolutely trusts.”

“But the Defense Department or Supreme Court or something else? Sure.”

DeSantis spokesperson Alex Lanfranconi released a statement to Axios saying that the governor “enjoys a great relationship with President Trump” and tried to tamp down the speculation.

“Some in the media prefer to focus on fake rumors rather than the many accomplishments of Florida’s partnership with the Trump administration,” he added. “The governor looks forward to continuing to work with President Trump on enforcing immigration laws, restoring the Everglades, and helping to reform college athletics.”

On Monday, War Secretary Pete Hegseth issued a memorandum to Pentagon leadership and other defense agencies stating that, “effective immediately,” Active and Reserve Components Service members, along with Department of War civilian personnel, will no longer be required to receive the flu vaccine. According to the updated guidance, the shot is “the annual influenza vaccine is voluntary.”

In a video shared on X this morning, which has garnered more than 3.5 million views at the time of this report, Hegseth said, “the notion that a flu vaccine must be mandatory for every service member, everywhere, in every circumstance at all times is just overly broad and not rational.”

In the video, he stated that U.S. service members have the option to receive the flu shot, but they will not be mandated to do so, emphasizing that “your body, your faith and your convictions are not negotiable.”

This new guidance clearly recognizes the ineffectiveness and unnecessary nature of the flu shot, while also affirming the Constitutionally protected religious rights that support a service member’s objection to it.

Consistent with research findings, it can be inferred that the Department of War has acknowledged that the likelihood of influenza was considerably greater for those who were vaccinated than for those who remained unvaccinated.

Conincidentally, this decision follows persistent efforts by The Gateway Pundit to champion the rights of service members, such as U.S. Air Force Major Brennan Schilperoort, who encountered considerable difficulties due to his refusal of the flu shot grounded in strong religious beliefs and health apprehensions.

After receiving the news, many service members reached out to the author of this article to express their enthusiasm about the guidance, which will effectively protect their careers by preventing reprimands and punishment over Constitutionally protected objections to the shot.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced Tuesday that the state has opened a full criminal investigation into OpenAI and its popular chatbot ChatGPT over allegations it provided “significant advice” to the man accused of carrying out the deadly 2025 Florida State University shooting.

The investigation centers on Phoenix Ikner, the 21-year-old charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the April 2025 attack on FSU’s campus in Tallahassee.

Ikner allegedly opened fire near the student union, killing two people, Robert Morales and Tiru Chabba, and injuring six others.

According to investigators and court documents, Ikner engaged in more than 200 messages with ChatGPT in the hours and days leading up to the massacre.

The conversations reportedly included detailed questions about school shootings, the busiest times on campus, operational details on firearms and ammunition, and strategies for maximizing media attention.

Uthmeier did not mince words when announcing the criminal investigation:

“My prosecutors have looked at this, and they’ve told me if it was a person on the other end of the screen, we would be charging them with murder.”

“This criminal investigation will determine whether OpenAI bears criminal responsibility for ChatGPT’s actions in the shooting at Florida State University last year,” he added.

Uthmeier explained that Florida law treats anyone who aids, abets, or counsels the commission of a crime as a principal to that crime, equally responsible as the actual perpetrator.

Attorneys for the family of victim Robert Morales first raised the alarm in early April, revealing they had evidence of “constant communication” between Ikner and ChatGPT right up to the shooting.

In a statement, the lawyers said they have “reason to believe that ChatGPT may have advised the shooter how to commit these heinous crimes.”

The family plans to file a civil lawsuit against ChatGPT and OpenAI’s ownership structure “very soon” to hold them accountable for Morales’ death, according to a report from WCTV.

Uthmeier has previously highlighted ChatGPT’s links to child sexual abuse material, encouragement of self-harm, and other criminal uses.

“We support innovation, but that doesn’t give any company the right to endanger our children, facilitate criminal activity, empower America’s enemies or threaten our national security,” Uthmeier stated.

OpenAI has stated it will cooperate with the investigation.

The company has not yet issued a detailed public response specifically addressing the FSU chats, but it has previously maintained that its safety guardrails are designed to prevent harmful outputs.
