From scandal to crisis, and back, Starmer dragged the UK for almost two years – but now MPs are gunning for his job.

Health secretary Wes Streeting, from the right wing of the party, has left the government, and is widely expected to challenge Starmer for the Labour leadership – and the premiership.

From the hard left of the party, the Manchester mayor, Andy Burnham, is standing in a by-election next month to return to Parliament and take on Starmer’s leadership.

As he returned from the China state visit in the AF1, US President Donald J. Trump was asked about the dire straits Starmer is facing.

Trump responded with his usual brutal honesty, but also with a good deal of sympathy for the failing UK leader.

President Trump: “It’s a tough thing unless he can straighten out immigration, where he’s weak, and if he doesn’t start drilling and stopping with the windmills all over the place.”

The Telegraph reported:

“Donald Trump has said it will be ‘tough’ for Sir Keir Starmer to survive the crisis engulfing his premiership.

The US president waded into the Labour leadership row while speaking to reporters on board Air Force One as he returned from a two-day summit with Xi Jinping, the Chinese president.

Asked if Sir Keir could outlive the turmoil, Mr. Trump said: ‘It’s a tough thing, unless he can straighten out immigration – where he’s weak – and if he doesn’t start drilling and stop with the windmills all over the place… he’s got to open up the North Sea’.”

But when asked by a reporter ‘Should Keir Starmer quit?’, Trump responded ‘I don’t say that. I think he’s a nice man actually.’

President Donald Trump has escalated his war against longtime Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy, urging Republicans to “VOTE OUT” the establishment incumbent in Saturday’s high-stakes GOP primary and back Trump-endorsed Congresswoman Julia Letlow instead.

Now, on the eve of the May 16 primary, Trump is reportedly intensifying the pressure campaign and rallying MAGA voters to send Cassidy packing once and for all.

Trump wrote on X:

Cassidy has spent years trying to walk a political tightrope, presenting himself as a conservative to Louisiana voters while repeatedly undermining Trump and the America First movement in Washington. Conservatives never forgot when Cassidy sided with Democrats during Trump’s impeachment circus after January 6, prompting the Louisiana Republican Party to formally censure him.

Despite Senate leadership’s attempts to prop him up, Cassidy has remained politically vulnerable in a state Trump won by more than 20 points in 2024.

Kamala Harris has revealed his week that she is all for a series of radical plans that should terrify every American.

During a Win With Black Women organizing call on Wednesday, Harris tore into the Supreme Court for gutting the Voting Rights Act and letting Southern states get rid of racial gerrymanders in redistricting.

“What they are doing is, they are backdooring racism behind politics to get to this decision and to justify them, what is happening in particular right now in all the southern states,” Harris whined. “This is obviously a time for us to fight.”

Harris later provided a solution to combat this so-called racism. Her prescription is one so chilling that it would likely bring about the end of the Republic.

Harris begins by endorsing expanding the Supreme Court to ensure a far-left majority controlled by the likes of Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson.

Then she calls for granting statehood to Washington, DC, and Puerto Rico. This means four new Democratic senators, making it far more difficult for Republicans ever to win it back.

Finally, Harris strongly insinuates that the Electoral College must be abolished. This provides even more incentive for Democrats to manufacture enough votes to steal even more elections.

HARRIS: Let’s engage in a good-old-fashioned roundtable where we agree there are no bad ideas.

For example, Supreme Court reform, including the notion of expanding the Court.

Let’s invite a discussion on how to push for statehood for Puerto Rico and DC.

How are we thinking about the Electoral College?

We’ve got to neutralize this red-state cheating, and it’s going to have to include the ideas on what we’re willing to do to help blue states expand the map.

Why bother voting ever again if the entire process is going to be rigged like this? The only remaining solution left for conservative states will be to ignore the Federal government and the subsequent ruling from the Supreme Court to have any say.

History shows that once this happens, nations tear themselves apart.

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday blocked Governor Greg Abbott from removing the Democrats who went AWOL last year amid the redistricting vote.

The AP reported:

The Texas Supreme Court on Friday refused to declare that Democratic lawmakers who briefly fled the state in 2025 to block a vote on new congressional voting maps pushed by President Donald Trump had vacated their office.

The all-Republican court dealt a blow to Gov. Greg Abbott and state Republicans in their efforts to severely punish the more than 50 Democrats who bolted for New York, Illinois and Massachusetts in a bid to stop a vote on the maps during a special session. State Republicans had sought their arrest and threatened fines to bring them back to the state Capitol.

Abbott had argued in a lawsuit filed directly to the state’s highest civil court that state Rep. Gene Wu, the leader of the House Democratic caucus, and others had effectively abandoned their office.

Wu had argued that he was not abandoning his office in the quorum break, but was exercising a right to dissent.

Last August, Texas Democrats fled to Illinois to block the Republicans from voting on a new congressional redistricting map.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Texas Governor Greg Abbott threatened the derelict Democrats with arrest and removal from office if they didn’t return to the Capitol.

The Texas House finally voted last on the new Congressional map after the Democrats stonewalled them for more than two weeks.

After threatening the AWOL Democrats with removal from office and or jail, the Texas GOP Caucus voted against a motion to censure the derelict lawmakers.

The censure would have resulted in loss of chairmanship and vice-chairmanships, loss of credit for seniority for the 89th Session and Pro rata reduction in office budgets for each day the member was absent without leave.

Abbott took the fight all the way to the Texas Supreme Court.

On Friday, the Texas Supreme Court said that the Republican state lawmakers already resolved the issue through fines.

As for failing Chancellor Friedrich Merz, he seems to carry these colors with pride – is even capable of scolding a ‘terminal-Cancer patient’ voter for asking a question he didn’t like, never taking the time to wish the woman good luck in her health battle, or having any word of incentive or empathy at all.

In the field of foreign policy, Merz has been just as rude.

He is in the middle of a big self-imposed crisis, because after he stated that Iran was ‘humiliating’ the US in the peace negotiations, Donald J. Trump hit back at him, and decided to pull thousands of US troops out of Germany, and hike the tariffs on EU’s cars.

While Merz is ‘celebrating’ his failing one year as Chancellor with a speech tour around the country, where he’s been mocked, booed, jeered and ridiculed.

So, now, he decided to dig for more trouble with the US, by airing his controversial opinions for the world to hear.

“German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Friday said he would advise his children against living or studying in the United ​States at the moment, citing a rapidly changing social climate ‌and limited opportunities even for the highly educated.

Speaking to a young audience at a Catholic convention in Wuerzburg, Merz said people were too prone to think in ‘disaster ​mode’ about the state of the world and urged Germans to ​feel more optimistic about their own country’s potential.”

“’I firmly believe that there are ‌few ⁠countries in the world that offer such great opportunities, especially for young people, as Germany’, he said.

‘I wouldn’t recommend that my children go to the U.S. today, get their education there, and work ​there, simply because a ​social climate ⁠has suddenly developed there’, said Merz, a 70-year-old father of three. ‘Today, the best-educated people in America have ​great difficulty finding a job’.”
