Back in February, we told you about a petition that was being circulated by progressives in Oregon, to essentially ban hunting and fishing in the state. It’s actually worse than that. They are trying to ban the killing of animals in the state, so this would not only affect hunting, but also the raising of animals for food.

Well, the leftists got their signatures and this is actually going to be on the ballot in Oregon this fall. Do you think this is what the pioneers who settled Oregon had in mind?

‘Animal cruelty’ ballot initiative criminalizing hunting and fishing moves forward in Oregon

A wild new “animal cruelty” ballot proposal would put hunters and fishermen on the hook.

Controversial legislation that would outlaw killing or “injuring” any animal — even while shooting or catching your dinner — is one step closer to landing on the ballot in Oregon, officials said Wednesday.

The measure, Initiative Petition 28, has garnered 120,000 signatures, more than the roughly 117,000 it needs to go to vote in November, The Oregonian reported.

Along with banning hunting and fishing, the legislation would also prohibit slaughtering livestock and using animals in rodeos and for scientific research.

It would also prohibit operating a commercial poultry business and castrating or neutering livestock, among other practices.

Hunting advocates said the legislation misses the mark — by a mile.

“[It’s] an all out assault on Oregonians’ way of life,” gubernatorial candidate Sen. Christine Drazan (R-Canby) told the Statesman Journal.

“It criminalizes ranchers, farmers, meat producers and threatens to kill thousands of jobs. It would mean the end of hunting and fishing in Oregon, killing not only traditions and ending access to an essential source of food, but butchering natural resource-based industries that support hunting and fishing,” she said.

Yesterday on The Five, Greg Gutfeld blasted the Democrats who used Memorial Day to attack ICE agents, and in the process, made the day all about themselves instead of our fallen heroes.

Senator Andy Kim of New Jersey managed to get himself pepper-sprayed and we’re supposed to care more about that than the people we’re trying to honor on Memorial Day? No way, said Greg.

Democrats show us their priorities through their actions, and it’s not pretty.

GUTFELD: Yes, so on Memorial Day, the message is clear: illegal immigrants, no matter how criminal they are, take priority over dead soldiers. Do I care that Andy Kim got pepper-sprayed? No, I don’t care. You — what you are doing — this is Memorial Day, champ. You go — you’re actually participating in something that undermines our country’s security. A veteran was murdered a few days ago, you didn’t give two turns about that. I don’t care about you. What Kim got was what he wanted. He wanted the attention off Memorial Day and on him, but it’s not going to change the way we feel about him or anything else.

Here’s the deal, this is all designed, all this, we know this, and we’re not scared of it anymore. That’s the beauty of it. Doesn’t bother us, but it’s designed to create a visual spectacle and obstacle that then pressures you into submission. Then, when you, the spectacle happens, they go, look, look what the policy is creating. Look at this chaos. Isn’t this awful? This went on in Minnesota. We can go through all that, but it’s the visual chaos that they claim is being caused by the deportations.

Maryland’s Democrat Governor Wes Moore has just signed a new law that would effectively ban Glock pistols, the most popular handgun in the United States.

This is just the latest reminder that Democrats will never, ever stop trying to implement more gun control.

What Moore has done with this new law however, is a real doozy. Millions of people, including lots of people who live in Maryland, already own these guns. This new law would make them criminals.

The NRA is already suing.

NRA sues Maryland governor and officials over ‘Glock ban’

The National Rifle Association, along with two other gun rights organizations, is suing Governor Wes Moore, Attorney General Anthony Brown, and Maryland State Police Acting Superintendent Michael Jackson for what they are calling the Glock ban.

The lawsuit filed in federal court cites Senate Bill 334, which outlaws the manufacture, purchase, selling, offering for sale, receiving, or transfer of certain pistols capable of being easily converted to machine-gun type weapons.

The legislation includes several popular handguns, including Glock and Glock-style handguns. Active and retired law enforcement are exempt from the ban. Violators could face up to three years in jail, a $5,000 fine, or both.

The law is expected to start enforcement on or after January 1, 2027.

“NRA is not going to stand back and let Governor Moore limit the self-defense options and the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens across the great state of Maryland,” NRA-ILA Executive Director John Commerford said.

The governor signed the bill into law on Tuesday. That same day, the lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court of Maryland, stating the law violates constitutional rights and requests the court declare SB334 as unconstitutional.

A former senior CIA officer with top-secret security clearance has been arrested after federal agents raided his Virginia home and seized roughly 300 gold bars worth more than $40 million, along with approximately $2 million in cash and 35 luxury watches, mostly Rolexes.

The officer, identified as David Rush, who held a management position at the agency, now faces charges of criminal theft of public money.

According to NBC News, Rush allegedly used his position to request large amounts of gold and foreign currency, claiming they were for “work-related expenses,” only to allegedly divert and stash them at his Fairfax County residence.

On May 18, federal agents searched the home and walked out with the massive gold hoard. Investigators had earlier found only a portion of the funds in a storage space near his office.

Rush had requested the assets between November and March, according to an FBI affidavit.

The CIA’s own internal audit couldn’t account for the gold or significant foreign currency, prompting CIA Director John Ratcliffe to refer the matter to the FBI for criminal investigation.

Asked about Rush’s case, a CIA spokesperson said in a statement joint statement with the FBI that the FBI had arrested a person after a referral from the agency.

After a CIA internal investigation identified potential violations of the law, CIA Director John Ratcliffe referred the information to the FBI for a law enforcement investigation,” the written statement said. “The FBI is working closely with our partners at the CIA and the Department of Justice as we continue to investigate this matter fully. We are committed to following the facts, ensuring accountability, and pursuing justice in accordance with the law.”

The case raises questions about the effectiveness of the federal government’s security vetting, which is supposed to ensure intelligence officers or other government employees don’t betray the public trust or spy for foreign countries.

The U.S. government conducts background investigations on every prospective employee at the CIA and other agencies granted access to sensitive and secret information. And after employees are hired, the government continues to monitor their financial activities, travel, credit records and other information through automated checks to ensure they aren’t vulnerable to blackmail.

The Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency, which falls under the authority of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, oversees the background check program, known as “continuous vetting.” When the program flags a potential problem or anomaly in an employee’s records, officials investigate further.

It wasn’t clear how the investigation into Rush began, and it also wasn’t clear when he left the CIA. His home was raided just last week.

Rush is also accused of a long-running fraud scheme in which he allegedly falsified time sheets, inflated his hours, and lied about his background for nearly two decades to secure and maintain his high-level position and extra pay.

He claimed degrees from Clemson University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, attendance at the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, service as a thesis adviser, and Navy pilot experience, none of which were true, according to NBC News.

He even allegedly faked Navy Reserve service to collect improper military leave pay.

He applied to the government three times and only succeeded on the third attempt in 2009 after padding his résumé further. Despite these fabrications, he rose to a senior management role with top-secret clearance.

According to Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, the city accepted Police Chief Brian O’Hara’s resignation after investigators determined he had interfered with a probe into allegations that he engaged in inappropriate relationships with city employees.

KMSP-TV reported that the original allegations themselves were not substantiated.

The investigation reportedly found that O’Hara deleted a contact from his city-issued phone during the inquiry, which investigators viewed as an attempt to shield information from review.

The mayor described the action as a “breach of trust” that made it difficult for O’Hara to continue leading the department effectively.

At a press conference announcing the resignation, Frey said O’Hara had been informed he could face disciplinary action, including termination, before deciding to step down.

Frey also acknowledged that he had recently nominated O’Hara for another four-year term but said new information uncovered during the investigation changed the situation.

Assistant Chief Katie Blackwell has been named interim leader of the department while the city searches for a permanent replacement. Frey said Blackwell is capable of stepping into the role during the transition period.

The resignation comes at a significant moment for Minneapolis policing.

One issue that drew national attention involved O’Hara’s public comments regarding the use of force by federal immigration authorities, including agents associated with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In media appearances earlier this year, O’Hara said local officers had a duty to intervene if they witnessed unlawful or excessive force by federal agents.

“If unlawful force is being used by any law enforcement officer against any person in this city and one of our officers is there, absolutely, I expect them to intervene, or they’ll be fired,” O’Hara said.

MS NOW reported that a sergeant from the Minneapolis Police Department later clarified that the understanding was that while officers may physically intervene in the case of unlawful force, they would stop short of arresting ICE agents.

But why would the Minneapolis Police Department stop short of arresting an ICE agent who has done something unlawful?

Illegal immigrants are individuals who have unlawfully trespassed across established borders and are therefore arrested by ICE agents who are enforcing the law.

If a police officer were to see an ICE agent use “unlawful” force, wouldn’t that require an arrest because the police officer would be a witness to the “unlawful” action?

The question surrounding O’Hara’s comment is what constitutes “unlawful” or “excessive force.”

If a citizen were to witness “unlawful or excessive force” perpetrated by a police officer, would it be acceptable for the citizen to intervene?

It is a matter of perspective. The word “force” is in the title of law enforcement.

The job of police and ICE agents is to enforce the laws.

O’Hara’s remarks were widely discussed, with some believing they placed the department in a difficult position, balancing local responsibilities with federal activity.

They also highlighted confusion about the role local police should play when federal authorities conduct immigration operations inside the city.

The resignation leaves Minneapolis once again searching for police leadership as the department continues implementing reform measures tied to state and federal oversight.
