In public, however, Ocasio-Cortez has continued to play down the speculation, telling Democratic strategist David Axelrod at a University of Chicago event this month that “they assume that my ambition is positional” and insisting that “my ambition is way bigger than that.” She said her goal is “to change this country,” arguing that “presidents come and go, Senate, House seats, elected officials come and go, but single-payer healthcare is forever,” before listing a living wage, workers’ rights and women’s rights as priorities that outlast any title.

Behind the scenes, sources close to Ocasio-Cortez told Axios she remains genuinely undecided about a presidential run and is likely to base her choice on where she believes she can “effectuate the most change,” underscoring the tension between her movement-focused rhetoric and the practical demands of electoral politics.

The renewed focus on AOC’s future comes as Democrats are still reeling from a bruising internal fight over the party’s official brutal “autopsy” of Vice President Kamala Harris’s 2024 loss to Donald Trump, a report that party chair Ken Martin ultimately released with a red disclaimer questioning its quality and sourcing. US forces executed another strike on a drug trafficking vessel operated by narcoterrorists in the Eastern Pacific on Wednesday, killing two male narcoterrorists.

This comes after another boat was blown up on Tuesday night, killing one. It’s at least the third strike on a narcoterrorist vessel this month.

Such strikes have killed at least 195 drug smugglers on 59 vessels since the US operations in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean Sea began last September.

On May 27, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Two male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed.

A day prior, US forces took out another drug boat, killing one and leaving two survivors.

The US Coast Guard was notified to conduct search-and-rescue efforts.

It arose yesterday (27) that Zelensky has written to US President Donald J. Trump and to US Congress begging for ‘more American-made air defense ammunition’ to counter intensifying Russian ballistic missile attacks.

The Ukrainian leader urged Trump and Congress in a letter, which was obtained by The Associated Press, to supply more Patriot PAC-3 missiles and other air defense systems, warning that deliveries to Ukraine are falling dangerously short as the Iran war diverts U.S. stocks.”

“Ukraine’s only means to shoot down Russian ballistic missiles is U.S.-made interceptors for the Patriot air ⁠defense system. Throughout four years of war, Kyiv has been short of interceptors, but the Iran war has threatened ​to make resources even more scarce.

Since Trump took office, Ukraine has been purchasing Patriot missiles through NATO’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements ​List (PURL) initiative, financed by its European allies.

‘But the current pace of deliveries through the PURL program is no longer keeping up with the reality of the threat we face’, Zelensky said in his letter.

‘For us – for a nation fighting for its survival – there is hardly anything ​more painful to see than Patriot batteries with no missiles loaded’, he added.”

Trump’s supporters argue this moment looks fundamentally different from past administrations because Tehran is negotiating under pressure—not leverage.

Iran’s economy remains deeply strained. Inflation continues to rise, supply shortages have intensified, and the regime faces mounting internal frustration from a population exhausted by years of economic instability. That pressure has left Iranian leadership with fewer options and greater incentives to remain at the negotiating table.

At the same time, major questions remain over Iran’s nuclear enrichment program.

Reports continue to indicate Iran maintains significant stockpiles of enriched uranium. The United States has pushed for strict limitations and long-term restrictions, while Iranian officials have signaled resistance to giving up core nuclear capabilities outright.

That remains the central test of any final agreement.

Still, Trump’s approach has already shifted the balance.

Rather than returning immediately to a broader military conflict that could destabilize the region even further, the administration has kept maximum pressure in place while forcing Iran into continued negotiations. That strategy has allowed the United States to maintain leverage without triggering the kind of prolonged regional war many feared earlier this year.

For Trump politically, the stakes are enormous.

If the Strait of Hormuz fully reopens and negotiations continue, the economic benefits could be felt globally through reduced shipping disruptions, improved market confidence, and reduced energy pressure. A successful outcome would also strengthen Trump’s argument that peace through strength remains the most effective approach to hostile regimes like Iran.
