France’s political landscape is undergoing a dramatic transformation as new polling shows nationalist, anti-globalist leader Jordan Bardella on track to win the presidency in 2027, signaling what many see as the collapse of the country’s traditional political order.

According to a new survey by Odoxa, Bardella would defeat establishment candidate Édouard Philippe in a second-round runoff by 52 percent to 48 percent.

The numbers mark a significant shift in French politics. Once dismissed as a protest figure, Bardella is now increasingly viewed as a credible governing alternative.

The French publication Valuers Actualles, citing the poll, noted that the result reflects growing dissatisfaction with the political center and the legacy of President Emmanuel Macron.

Macron’s approval ratings have plummeted. Only 23 percent of French voters now consider him a “good president,” while 76 percent disagree.

Even within his own political base, confidence is eroding. A growing share of his supporters express doubts about his leadership.

The decline of Macron’s centrist bloc is reshaping the electoral field. Analysts say the political center is shrinking rapidly.

Philippe, once seen as the establishment’s strongest contender, is losing ground. His support has dropped to 17 percent in first-round polling.

At the same time, the left is consolidating around a more radical figure. Jean-Luc Mélenchon is gaining momentum.

Mélenchon has climbed to 16 percent, nearly matching Philippe.

The surge has alarmed establishment figures. A second-round contest between Bardella and Mélenchon is increasingly seen as a real possibility.

For many in the political center, that scenario is deeply concerning. It would represent a complete breakdown of the traditional political order.

Yet polling suggests such a matchup would produce a decisive outcome. Bardella is projected to win overwhelmingly against Mélenchon.

Previous Odoxa data indicated a potential 74 percent to 26 percent landslide.

The implications are significant. France appears to be moving toward a polarized political system.

On one side stands a nationalist bloc led by Bardella. On the other, a radical left coalition centered around Mélenchon.

Between them, the centrist establishment is losing relevance. Its voter base is fragmenting and shrinking.

For many voters, issues such as national identity, security, and sovereignty are becoming central. These concerns have reshaped the political debate.

Traditional figures on both the right and left are struggling to regain footing. Their influence appears to be fading.

Even newer faces have not gained significant traction. Gabriel Attal maintains a relatively positive image but lacks strong electoral momentum.

Analysts describe a system increasingly defined by two opposing poles. The space for compromise appears to be shrinking.

This shift reflects deeper societal tensions. Economic uncertainty, cultural debates, and questions of national direction all play a role.

France is no exception. The current trajectory suggests a break from the past.

Still, the election remains more than a year away. Much can change in that time.

History also offers cautionary lessons. In previous elections, broad coalitions formed to block nationalist candidates.

Whether that dynamic will repeat remains uncertain. The current level of polarization may make such alliances more difficult.

Liberal Prime Minister Mark Carney is one of them.

After branding Alberta essential to Canada, Carney has criticized its upcoming referendum as a ‘dangerous bluff’, comparing it to the Brexit process of the UK leaving the European Union.

“Carney, who led the Bank of England during Brexit, said that 10 years on from the referendum the UK was ‘trying to undo what people didn’t think they were voting for, but what they ended up having’.

He also cautioned against voting in favor of a separation vote as a way to strengthen Alberta’s negotiating position with Ottawa, saying it may bring unintended consequences.”

The 19 October vote will decide if Albertans want to remain part of Canada or if a binding vote on separation is to be held at a later date.

“Speaking to reporters on Monday, Carney said he will be campaigning for Canadian unity in the coming months. ‘We have to be very careful about this’, he said, adding: ‘There is a very strong, positive case for Canada, a strong Alberta in a united Canada’.

Supporters of Alberta independence believe that the oil-rich province has long been overlooked by decision-makers in Ottawa, the national capital, and that federal environmental policies have hindered its ability to build oil and gas pipelines and develop its natural resources.”

Vice President JD Vance, Chairman of the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, and Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Task Force Vice Chair, will hold a roundtable this afternoon with State Attorneys General to discuss the Trump Administration’s nationwide crackdown on federal benefits fraud.

In March, President Trump tasked the Vice President with leading the White House’s Fraud Task Force and investigations into schemes to defraud the federal government through welfare programs and immigration.

“The Task Force will coordinate measures to improve eligibility verification, implement pre-payment controls, detect high-risk fraud trends, and disrupt and dismantle fraud networks and the mechanisms through which fraud is committed,” according to Trump’s Executive Order establishing the Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.

Over a dozen Republican Attorneys General are expected to be at the event.

However, the Democrats angrily refused to attend because they had not received advance notice. According to sources familiar with the matter, Democratic Attorneys General received an invite to the event on Friday with a Saturday deadline to RSVP, Politico reports.

Republicans received invitations a week prior, but Vance later insisted that Democrats be invited.

Per Politico:

The event was originally planned to include only Republican attorneys general but it was later decided to invite Democrats as well at Vance’s insistence, the person said.

A group of Democratic attorneys general sent a joint letter to Vance on Monday evening declining his invitation to the event, noting that it “was provided with less than one business day’s notice with no agenda.”

“This short notice does not match the spirit of collaboration that has long defined our joint efforts with federal partners,” they wrote.

Ahead of the meeting, Vance’s office highlighted the actions taken to date in a press release.

President Trump on Tuesday provided an update after his latest physical at Walter Reed Medical Center.

Trump, who will turn 80 next month, underwent his third physical at Walter Reed since taking office in January 2025.

The physical took a little over 3 hours and details will be released later.

“Just finished my 6 month physical at Walter Reed Military Medical Center. Everything checked out PERFECTLY. Thank you to the great Doctors and Staff! Heading back to the White House. President DJT,” Trump said on Truth Social.

Last July, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed reports of President Trump’s swollen ankles and bruises on his hands.

Leavitt shared, Trump was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency which is a common condition among those who are 70 years old and above.

“An echocardiogram was also performed and confirm normal cardiac structure and function. No signs of heart failure, renal impairment or systemic illness were identified,” she said of the President’s swollen legs. She said the President has ” chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition, particularly in individuals over the age of 70.”

The hand bruises were explained as “a well-known and benign side effect of aspirin therapy,” which the President does “as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen.”

“Laboratory testing included a complete blood count, comprehensive metabolic panel, coagulation profile, D-dimer, B-type natriuretic peptide, and cardiac biomarkers,” Leavitt said last year.

“All results were within normal limits. An echocardiogram was also performed and confirmed normal cardiac structure and function, no signs of heart failure, renal impairment, or systemic illness were identified,” she said.

“Additionally, recent photos of the President have shown minor bruising on the back of his hand. This is consistent with minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen,” she said.
