Germany’s industrial decline is accelerating, with more than 341,000 manufacturing jobs disappearing since 2019 and industry leaders warning that another 300,000 positions could soon be at risk as Europe’s largest economy struggles with rising costs, shrinking competitiveness, and intensifying global competition.

The latest figures, reported on by Remix News, have renewed concerns that Germany is undergoing something far more serious than a temporary slowdown—and something that increasingly looks to be a permanent development. Employers, economists, and business groups increasingly warn that the country’s industrial model—long regarded as the engine of European prosperity—is facing structural challenges with no easy solution in sight.

Central to these latest developments is, of course, manufacturing, which remains the backbone of the German economy. Unlike many Western countries that rely heavily on finance or services, Germany’s prosperity has long depended on exporting automobiles, machinery, chemicals, electrical equipment, and other industrial goods around the world.

Those industries are now under growing pressure—and have been for quite some time now.

According to industry association Gesamtmetall, employment in Germany’s metal and electrical sectors has fallen to roughly 3.8 million workers after years of steady decline. The group warns that current trends could result in hundreds of thousands more jobs disappearing.

“We are in danger of losing another 300,000,” Gesamtmetall President Udo Dinglreiter warned. Such a decline would push employment in key industrial sectors to some of the lowest levels seen since German reunification.

The warning comes amid mounting criticism of Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s liberal-centrist government, which faces increasing pressure to reverse the country’s economic trajectory, and put a stop to endless waves of mass migration from the third world Germany has endured for over a decade now. Business leaders argue that promised reforms have been slow to materialize while investment and production continue flowing elsewhere.

$43 Billion Per Year Burden: Migration Costs Hammer German Taxpayers

Many industrial executives point to energy costs as one of the most significant obstacles facing German manufacturers.

For decades, Germany's export success was built partly on access to reliable and competitively priced energy that helped keep factories productive and exports globally competitive. Today, many companies say that the cost environment has fundamentally changed amid geopolitical developments.

Industry representatives warn that energy-intensive sectors such as chemicals, metals, engineering, and manufacturing are particularly vulnerable. Higher production costs make it more difficult for German firms to compete against rivals in Asia and North America.

Business groups have repeatedly urged Berlin to reduce energy prices and improve investment conditions. Without relief, they argue, more production will move abroad and more industrial jobs will disappear.

The consequences are increasingly visible far beyond factory floors.

Germany's retail sector is also undergoing a profound transformation—and not a good one. New figures show that approximately 65,000 small retail businesses have disappeared since 2010, with independent shops suffering disproportionately compared to larger chains.

Small bookstores, bakeries, clothing stores, and specialty retailers have been among the hardest hit. Industry groups say many local businesses are struggling with inflation, weak consumer spending, rising rents, and growing operating costs.

Germany’s Perfect Storm: Skyrocketing Knife Crime, Crumbling Economy, and Failed Leadership Threaten National Stability

The result is a growing number of empty storefronts in cities and towns across Germany.

“With the decline of smaller specialist retailers, many city centers are losing their distinctiveness and thus their heart,” said Stefan Genth, chief executive of the German Retail Federation.

Creditreform, which analyzed the retail data, described the sector as one of the fastest-shrinking parts of the German economy. More than 2,400 retailers entered bankruptcy proceedings in 2025 alone.

Meanwhile, international competition is intensifying.

German industry leaders have increasingly focused on China's growing economic influence. Imports from China rose sharply during the first quarter, while German exports to China declined significantly over the same period.

Manufacturing groups argue that Chinese firms benefit from state support, subsidies, industrial planning, and lower production costs that make competition increasingly difficult for European companies.

“An artificially low currency, excessive subsidies and politically motivated export controls are not trivial offenses,” VDMA (the German Engineering Federation) chief executive Thilo Brodtmann said. “They endanger Europe's industry.”

The concerns reflect a broader fear that Germany is gradually losing ground in industries it once dominated.

Chinese companies have become increasingly competitive in sectors ranging from electric vehicles and batteries to advanced manufacturing and industrial technology. Executives from Chinese automotive giant BYD recently highlighted the company's workforce of more than 110,000 engineers as a key source of its success.

At the same time, political pressure on Berlin continues to mount.

Germany’s main opposition party, Alternative for Germany (AfD), has seized on the industrial job losses as evidence that Germany's economic model requires urgent reform, arguing that the country is falling behind competitors while domestic businesses face rising costs and declining competitiveness.

The debate extends well beyond party politics.

Even politicians from across the political spectrum have expressed concern about manufacturing losses, weakening exports, and Germany's deteriorating position in global markets.

Many economists say the challenges facing Germany are especially significant because of the country's unique dependence on industry.

Unlike economies that rely primarily on domestic consumption or financial services, Germany depends heavily on exporting manufactured goods. Maintaining competitive production costs is therefore essential to preserving growth, employment, and public revenues.

That reality has made the energy debate increasingly difficult to ignore.

A growing number of business leaders warn that if Germany cannot provide manufacturers with competitive conditions, companies will continue relocating production, investment, and future growth opportunities elsewhere.

The stakes extend far beyond individual factories.

Industrial employment supports thousands of suppliers, small businesses, logistics firms, and local communities throughout Germany. Every major plant closure creates ripple effects that extend across entire regions.

The walls are closing in on Sánchez.

We have been reporting here on TGP about the downfall of the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, and his Socialist party.

Sánchez is a political leader whose wife, brother, and multiple key allies are under corruption investigation, and his party is mired in sexual misconduct allegations – and yet, he goes around like nothing’s happened.

While he is not ousted from power, the PM keeps implementing his Satanic policies, like ‘enshrining’ abortion in the constitution, and ‘legalizing’ half a million foreign invaders.

But even the most pro-Globalist news outlets have to report on the Spanish leader’s dire straits:

The BBC wrote: ‘wave of scandals threatens survival’; Reuters: ‘Sanchez running out of road’; The Times: ‘A cloud of corruption is hovering over Madrid’; Politico: ‘Scandal after scandal lands Spain’s Sánchez on the ropes’; The Guardian: ‘Spanish PM’s family affair: the corruption cases involving Pedro Sánchez’s brother, wife and predecessor’; The Times of Israel: ‘The Head of Spain’s Corruption Snake’.

The situation is so grave, that Sánchez had to resort to the ‘patron-saint’ of Europe’s leftists: Pope Leo XIV receives Prime Minister of Spain in the Vatican.

Euronews reported:

“The government came under increasing pressure this week after authorities searched the Socialist Party’s Madrid headquarters. Officers from the Civil Guard’s Central Operative Unit (UCO) spent 12 hours at the PSOE’s national headquarters in Calle Ferraz on Wednesday as part of an investigation into the so‑called Leire Díez case.

The operation, ordered by National Court judge Santiago Pedraz, is seeking documents on alleged payments by the party to a network whose alleged aim was to obstruct judicial investigations affecting Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s inner circle.”

Yes, you read it right: there are so many corruption investigations and prosecutions involving Sánchez’s family and party that there are already investigations about efforts to obstruct these investigations.

Remember the saying: ‘it’s not the crime, it’s the cover-up’.

“According to the court order, the PSOE party is alleged to have allocated 178,000 euros to this alleged structure to discredit judges such as Beatriz Biedma, Mercedes Ayala and Juan Carlos Peinado.

Judge Pedraz has charged former Organisation Secretary Santos Cerdán, former deputy head of the Andalusian regional government Gaspar Zarrías and PSOE manager Ana María Fuentes and is investigating alleged payments to Leire Díez for her alleged interference with judicial proceedings. Díez was arrested in December 2025 and released on bail.”

“That operation was followed, in the same week, by former prime minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero being named as a suspect in a criminal organisation and over influence peddling in the Plus Ultra case, as well as the start of the trial of David Sánchez, the prime minister’s brother, and former Extremaduran Socialist leader Miguel Ángel Gallardo.”

An anti-ICE agitator received a harsh lesson after deciding to get rough with New Jersey state police during a protest.

On Saturday night, independent journalist Oliya Scootercaster was on scene at the Delaney Hall ICE detention facility in Newark, which has been the site of multiple leftist riots over the past several days.

And these protesters are well-provided for. As The Gateway Pundit reported, independent journalist Nick Sortor, who blew the lid off years of taxpayers’ abuse at the hands of Somali fraudsters, infiltrated an Antifa camp at the Newark, New Jersey, ICE protests.

As he moved through the camp, he found tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment, food, and even riot gear. Hot meals are delivered every hour. Clearly, there is a massive, shadowy infrastructure behind the movement that is providing funding.

When one combines this with the open encouragement of Democrat politicians to bully ICE agents, it’s no wonder that Antifa is so emboldened.

But one agitator may be regretting his life choices after getting a taste of his own medicine last night.

During the latest riot at the ICE facility, state police were seen on video firing tear gas and smoke bombs in an effort to disperse the protesters. Some cops even charged at the agitators on horseback.

Oliya Scootercaster then captured footage of a tall agitator wearing a pink belt showing off the injuries he received after messing with the state troopers.

The nasty red mark can be seen on his exposed stomach before he makes a graphic remark.

“They literally shot me through my d**k!” he exclaimed. “Look.”

“Jesus Christ!”

Ouch!

If the agitator was looking for sympathy, he certainly did not find it online.

An elderly woman has been brutally murdered on an Atlanta train, an evil attack which will bring back heartbreaking memories of a similar killing last year.

As FOX 5 Atlanta reported, a woman was stabbed to death on a MARTA train near the Oakland City Station on Saturday shortly after 12 pm.

A suspect was promptly arrested following the murder, and normal rail operations were temporarily suspended.

FOX 5 notes that emergency medical workers desperately tried to save the female victim at the scene, but she succumbed to her injuries. MARTA police stated that several bystanders witnessed the brutal murder.

MARTA police released the following statement to FOX 5 Atlanta following the attack:

This appears to be a senseless act of violence, and our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones and those who witnessed this horrific incident.

We understand the concern and fear incidents like this can cause for those who ride and work on the MARTA system. MARTA Police are actively investigating and remain committed to the safety and security of our riders and employees.

Below is footage of the aftermath of the attack. The alleged perp, who is black, can be seen lying on the ground.

WATCH:

MARTA Police Chief Scott Kreher announced on Sunday that 25-year-old John Elijah Matthews was in the Fulton County Jail as a suspect in the murder.

A chilling video later emerged showing the extremely bloody scene of the train following the attack.

The victim, who is lying on the ground, appears to be white. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office identified her as 66-year-old Margaret Swan of Atlanta.

This harrowing incident is strikingly similar to the brutal murder of a Ukrainian refugee last year.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska was brutally murdered in August 2025 by a low-life thug in Charlotte, North Carolina, who had no business walking free to begin with.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department revealed Zarutska suffered multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the East/West Boulevard light rail station at 10 P.M. ET on August 22.

Police identified 34-year-old Decarlos Brown Jr. as the person responsible for Zarutska’s death. He was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Footage of Brown apparently saying, “I got that White girl,” later emerged following the murder.

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill Sides With Anti-ICE Protesters After Violent Chaos at Newark Detention Facility (VIDEO)

New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill held a press conference Saturday addressing the violent anti-ICE protests outside Delaney Hall in Newark, and her comments showed exactly why blue-state leaders cannot be trusted to defend law enforcement when immigration enforcement becomes politically inconvenient.

The protests outside the ICE detention facility have spiraled into chaos. Demonstrators have confronted law enforcement, federal officers have been targeted, journalists have faced hostility, and authorities have been forced to respond as crowds escalated near the facility.

The issue should have been simple. ICE agents are federal law enforcement officers carrying out federal immigration law. The governor’s first responsibility should be to ensure that officers can do their jobs safely and that violent protesters are arrested, prosecuted, and removed from the area.

Instead, Sherrill opened her press conference by emphasizing the protesters.

“My focus is on protecting people’s right to protest peacefully and ensuring everyone’s safety,” Sherrill said.

That sounds reasonable until the rest of her remarks made clear where her political sympathies were.

Rather than focus on ICE agents who have been attacked and threatened, Sherrill immediately shifted the discussion toward alleged actions by ICE in other states and claimed she would not allow ICE to use the protests as a “pretext” to expand operations in New Jersey.

“I will not give ICE a pretext to expand operations at Delaney Hall or across our state,” Sherrill said.

That line revealed the entire problem. A governor watching anti-ICE unrest unfold outside a federal detention facility should not treat ICE as the threat.

Violent agitators are the threat. People trying to block immigration enforcement are the threat. Protesters who surround law enforcement vehicles, threaten personnel and bring projectiles into the area are the threat.

Sherrill then praised “the vast majority of protesters” and said the focus should be on “advocating for better conditions” inside Delaney Hall.

She also said New Jersey law enforcement moved in because action was necessary to “avoid escalation from ICE.”

Escalation from ICE?

ICE did not create the chaos outside Delaney Hall. ICE agents were doing their jobs. The protests were directed against them because the left has spent years demonizing immigration enforcement and portraying federal officers as villains for enforcing the law.

Even more revealing, state law enforcement later described exactly what officers were facing. Lieutenant Colonel David Sierotowicz said agitators surrounded a marked law enforcement vehicle and made threats toward personnel.

He said individuals were seen retrieving face coverings, gas masks, fireworks, rocks and other projectiles from a nearby tent area. That is not a peaceful protest. That is organized escalation.

Sherrill did eventually acknowledge that five of the six people arrested were from outside New Jersey and said some national extremist groups had become involved.

But even then, the governor framed the matter around protecting the anti-ICE cause from being distracted by violence. Her message was not a full-throated defense of law enforcement.

Her message was that protesters should “bring the temperature down” so attention could return to detainees and Delaney Hall’s conditions.

This is the modern Democrat Party’s immigration problem in one press conference. The left claims to support law and order until the law being enforced involves illegal immigration. The left claims to oppose violence until the violence is attached to a cause favored by progressive activists.

Sherrill ran as a supposedly moderate Democrat, but Saturday’s press conference told a very different story.

When ICE agents were under pressure and anti-ICE activists were creating chaos in Newark, New Jersey’s governor did not make law enforcement the center of her message. She made the protesters the center of her message.
