Eugene Daniels is the senior Washington correspondent for MSNOW and he has a rather untraditional take on what the term ‘kitchen table issues’ means to most people.

During a recent segment about the Democrat autopsy of the 2024 election, Daniels was asked what he thinks Democrats should do going forward.

Daniels suggested that it is possible for Democrats to continue embracing identity politics while also talking about things like abortion and trans kids, which he goes on to suggest are kitchen table issues.

Someone needs to clue him in that for the vast majority of the country, those are not actually kitchen table issues.

Even by the low standards of MS NOW, senior Washington correspondent Eugene Daniels’s Thursday appearance on Chris Jansing Reports was a stellar example of how not to do journalism. Daniels’s title suggests that the network views him as a reporter, but he decided to go full activist. According to him, Democrats need “to be more comfortable with power” and that the party needs to focus more on “kitchen table issues,” which he somehow defined as abortion and gender transitioning children.

Reacting to the DNC’s autopsy, Jansing read a portion aloud that suggested Democrats’ problem is that they are just too smart for the electorate, “They claim Republicans are just better at politics. Quote, ‘At times it seems Democrats are trying to win arguments while Republicans are focused on winning elections. Democrats operate in an ecosystem defined by reason, even in cycles when the electorate is defined by rage.’ What should Democrats do with that?”…

Usually, kitchen table issues mean things like the jobs or the cost of living, but Daniels took an extremely broad definition:

When you talk about whether or not people can have access to healthy abortions—safe abortions, that is a kitchen table issue, right? Whether or not a trans kid can get the services they need, that is a kitchen table issue for families. So, it’s about crafting the message in a way that actually gets to the point that Chuck and a lot of other folks say, which is people look at the money leaving their pockets, they look at the party in power, they want some change, and they’re willing to flirt with candidates and with parties they haven’t been before.

This is a window into the mind of the left.

It gives you a sense of what they see as priorities and what they think the public cares about. It comes off as wildly out of touch.

Billionaire Democrat Tom Steyer recently decided to make a campaign stop in the Leimert Park area of Los Angeles. Things did not go well.

Clearly angry residents surrounded his vehicle and some of them shouted threats. One man even allegedly pulled a knife on one of Steyer’s staffers.

Some people in the small mob were even demanding reparations.

This almost sounds funny but as you’ll see below it was actually a very tense situation.

A protester at a Los Angeles campaign event hosted by California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer pulled a knife on his staff — as angry agitators blocked his SUV while shouting down the progressive billionaire.

Steyer had been attending a gathering last Saturday at ORA Cafe in Leimert Park, during which he told a crowd of black voters that they are owed a “gigantic debt” and that the black community is “the moral leader of the United States,” journalist Maeve Reston reported.

The event took a turn when a group of protesters arrived and things turned ugly.

“Tom attended an event in Leimert Park last Saturday to meet voters,” a Steyer spokesperson told The California Post.

“After the event was over, staff escorted him to a vehicle in the alleyway because protesters were present, including one individual who had pulled a knife on campaign staff. The campaign did not contact CHP or request a security escort.”

Video of a confrontation between agitators and Steyer’s team in the alley showed several individuals scuffling as protesters screamed at the billionaire as he apparently took shelter in his SUV.

Do you think Steyer will be using any of that in an ad? Probably not.

It’s also highly doubtful that anyone on the liberal media will ask Steyer any questions about it.

The principal of a high school near Phoenix, Arizona, announced his resignation this week after a scandal came to light involving two teachers who are accused of having a sexual relationship with the same student. 

The two teachers at Centennial High School in Peoria, Arizona, were initially placed on administrative leave when the allegations first came to light in August 2025. Nearly one year later, Principal Scott Hollabaugh has announced his resignation.

Per WSAZ:

According to a nearly 200-page police report, rumors of inappropriate teacher-student relationships circulated at Centennial High School in Peoria for months.

The teachers were identified as Haley Beck, 27, and Angela Burlaka, 47.

Burlaka worked at the school for 25 years, and Beck was hired in 2020.

Burlaka is accused of recording videos of herself while naked in which she said the student’s name. The videos ended up on the student’s phone

Both teachers are still under investigation, with reports suggesting Burlaka, the 25-year veteran teacher, sent explicit videos to the student, and that Beck exchanged thousands of texts and allegedly had a sexual relationship with the student. Burlaka resigned from the school, and Beck was terminated.

Beck, 27, is the sister of the famous TikTok influencer Noah Beck, which has brought heightened attention to the scandal. She faces additional accusations of giving the student money, drugs and alcohol, and manipulating grades and attendance records.

People Magazine reports,

Citing the police report, the statement of charges alleges that Haley had sent the student $630 via Apple Pay, adding that a July 29, 2025, transaction was captioned, “this money exchange just felt like straight prostitution.”

The statement of charges also alleges that the district’s investigation found text messages between Haley and the student discussing meeting to have sex, consuming alcohol, smoking cannabis and the student filming Haley “providing him oral sex and showing it to other students.” The statement of charges also claims that Haley saved the student’s name in her Snapchat as “sneaky link,” a slang term that means illicit lover.

The unidentified victim reportedly turned 18 in December 2024, but detectives believe the abuse spanned years, beginning during his sophomore year at the school.

Principal Scott Hollabaugh resigned over the controversy on Friday. However, reports suggest that Hollabaugh knew about the abuse long ago and that he told authorities early in their investigation that he had received “multiple complaints from students and staff” about Haley Beck.

Hollabaugh wrote in a statement obtained by Fox 10 Phoenix:

MSNOW is once again pretending that political weaponization only becomes a problem when President Donald Trump tries to fix it.

On Saturday, MSNOW attacked Trump’s proposed $1.776 billion anti-weaponization fund, framing it as a corrupt taxpayer-funded payout to “insurrectionists.”

The fund was reportedly created as part of a settlement connected to Trump’s lawsuit against the IRS and is intended to compensate Americans who say they were unfairly targeted by the Biden administration’s justice system.

That is exactly why the left hates it.

For years, the Biden administration, Democrat prosecutors, and their allies in the media treated political prosecution as normal. The January 6 defendants were held up as examples, not merely prosecuted under the law. Many were used as political symbols.

Some committed crimes and deserved legal consequences. That point should not be ignored. But the issue is not whether every person at the Capitol on January 6 behaved properly. Rather, it is whether the American justice system handed out fair, equal, and proportionate punishment.

In many cases, the answer is obviously no.

The left wants every January 6 defendant placed into the same category. Violent offenders, nonviolent protesters, people who entered the Capitol, people who were swept into massive investigations, and people pressured into plea deals are all treated as part of one giant “insurrection.”

That framing allows the media to avoid the real question: Were these defendants treated the same way other Americans would have been treated for comparable conduct?

MSNOW does not want to answer that question because the answer destroys the narrative.

The same media outlet that calls January 6 an insurrection has defended and celebrated left-wing disruptions when they serve progressive causes.

When Democrat state lawmakers disrupt legislative proceedings, scream about racism, or stage political spectacles, the media calls it activism. When conservatives protest, the same media suddenly discovers law and order.

That double standard is the whole problem.

MSNOW also argued that the Department of Justice under Trump cannot be trusted because Trump now controls the executive branch.

But if the president’s control over the Justice Department automatically creates a conflict, then Democrats must explain why the Biden Justice Department’s actions against Trump and his supporters were supposedly beyond political influence.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James campaigned on going after Trump before bringing a case against him. Alvin Bragg revived a politically charged prosecution against Trump after years of pressure from the left.

Merrick Garland’s Justice Department pursued Trump while Biden was preparing to run against him. The left cannot claim political prosecution is impossible under Democrats and then call it obvious under Trump.

The anti-weaponization fund does not mean every January 6 defendant is innocent. It does not mean every applicant deserves compensation. It simply means the federal government should recognize that political targeting happened and that Americans who were denied fair treatment deserve a remedy.

One officer interviewed by MSNOW argued that taxpayers should not pay people connected to January 6. But the fund is broader than January 6.

The point is to compensate Americans who were targeted by a weaponized justice system, including people across the political spectrum who may have been abused by federal power.

Democrats spent years saying nobody is above the law. Conservatives should answer with a better principle: nobody should be beneath equal justice under the law.

MSNOW can call it a slush fund. The left can call every Trump supporter an extremist. RINOs can run to cable news and pretend outrage.

But the truth remains simple. A justice system that punishes people based on politics is not justice.

The gunman who opened fire near the White House on Saturday evening has been identified as a man named Nesire Best. 

Reporters heard 20-30 gunshots fired from multiple guns near the White House on Saturday. Reporters did not see the shooter, but the incident occurred on the corner of 17th St. and Pennsylvania Ave., just steps away from the Eisenhower Executive Office building.

A motive is still unclear, but officials say he had a history of mental health issues.

Best was pronounced dead after the shooting at a local hospital.

NBC’s Tom Winter identified the shooter at approximately 9 pm ET:

Conservative Attorney Mike Davis shared a photo of the 21-year-old, confirmed by law enforcement to be the suspect.

“Per law enforcement: Nasire Best was previously arrested on July 10, 2025 for attempting to enter the White House complex. He had serious mental-health issues,” he wrote on X.

Fox News reported,

During the shooting, a bystander was also struck by gunfire. Their condition is unknown.

It remains unclear whether the bystander was struck by the suspect’s initial gunfire or during the subsequent exchange of gunfire.

Officials said the suspect had a history of mental health issues.

No injuries were sustained by Secret Service personnel.
