The second ransom note sent to a Tucson television station shortly after the February abduction of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie claimed she had died shortly after being taken and was buried “in nature,” according to a new report.

The note, received around February 6, was a major shift from the earlier message from the same IP address that had demanded millions in bitcoin for her safe return.

The latter note adopted a “new, less confident tone” and included a “sputtering and labored” apology for her “inadvertent death,” sources told Air Mail in a detailed report on the investigation.

The person claiming to be the kidnapper reportedly floated returning her body in exchange for payment.

After the second note was received, Savannah Guthrie posted a video addressing the alleged kidnapper.

“We received your message and we understand,” Savannah Guthrie said. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. … This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

Investigators with the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department were given the notes, which allegedly contained specific, non-public details about the crime scene, and flagged them as potentially credible and likely originating from the actual abductor or abductors.

These details included a broken floodlight behind Guthrie’s home and information about the Apple Watch she was wearing when she disappeared.

“There are a lot of different notes, I think, that came, and I think most of them — it’s my understanding — are not real, and I didn’t see them,” Savannah Guthrie said in an interview with NBC. “But I believe the two notes that we received, that we responded to, I tend to believe those are real.”

Several ransom notes were sent to media outlets in the days after the disappearance, including TMZ, which has confirmed the notes they received did not mention her death.

TMZ also received emails from another individual claiming to know Guthrie’s location and the kidnappers’ whereabouts in exchange for bitcoin.

One of those emails initially said “time is of the essence,” but a later message stated “time is no longer of the essence,” which Levin interpreted as possibly implying she was no longer alive.

TMZ passed both the ransom note and the emails to the FBI.

The Guthrie family received some of them and, in at least one instance, publicly responded by pleading for her return and indicating willingness to pay.

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home on the evening of January 31. She had been dropped off by a family member around 9:50 p.m.

The following morning, after she failed to appear for a scheduled church livestream, relatives checked on her and found signs of a struggle, including signs of forced entry and blood.

Doorbell camera footage captured a masked intruder near the home around 2 a.m. on February 1.

Guthrie’s phone and other belongings were left at the home.

No arrests have been made in the months since, nor have any suspects been publicly named.

The investigation remains ongoing.

President Trump went off on reporters, attempting to deny that vandals are destroying the Reflecting Pool at the Lincoln Memorial and criticizing his repair project to fix the broken and filthy pond. 

Deranged liberals have been tearing out the new American flag blue sealant that lines the bottom of the pool with the intention of giving the water a blue reflection. Several arrests were made over the weekend.

“We have a, I think, 290/300-foot slit right through it, probably a box cutter or a knife of some kind,” Trump said.

“They went in there with a knife. I was just told by the, by the people over at Parks, they have five people are arrested and five people are under investigation right now, and it’s a sad thing. In addition to that, they, you know, we put brand new, beautiful grass all around. They put these massive letters on the grass. You probably know about that, right? And they said 8647. They probably got that from the dirty cop, Comey. You know, he’s a dirty cop, don’t you? Dirty cop, he’s a crooked guy. They destroyed the grass, so that’s a big thing. But we’re going to get it back very soon.”

“Who would think that somebody would go into a pool and take a knife and start cutting it?” Trump continued before a reporter demanded proof of the vandalism. Trump fired back, “Put it this way, when you have a 350— I think it’s 350, not 250 a 350-foot slit from one end to the other, you think that’s proof?”

A reporter then questioned Trump on the increased cost and timeline from Trump’s original projections in April, and Trump went off, pointing to Obama’s botched reconstruction project.

Obama’s failed project in 2012, which had a massive cost of $34 million, more than twice what Trump is paying, left the pool flooded with algae and leaking a whopping 16 million gallons of water per year due to incompetence. Obama’s botched repairs took nearly two years to complete, while Trump’s repairs of Obama’s errors, replacing the leaky pool with industrial-grade leak-proof materials, were already finished after starting in April.

“I can’t help it if somebody goes in with a knife and starts hacking it up, and we also have pictures of it, you know,” Trump said when a reporter interrupted, demanding the photos be released.

“At the right time, you’ll see it. You’ll see it in court, you’ll see it in court, but all you have to do is call the Parks Department, call the Department of Interior, and I don’t know if their lawyers will allow you to speak to them because you know you write fake— you write fake news, but call the Interior Department, and I understand they’ve arrested five people, and they have another five people that are under investigation,” Trump responded.

“Here’s the bottom line: we made so much progress in this city, people don’t even recognize it,” Trump continued, slamming Joe Biden and the Democrats for allowing crime to fester in the streets, all while importing millions of “career criminals” from the Third World to rape and pillage American towns.

“We can never forget that that happened. Guys like you should never forget that that happened. There were murderers, drug dealers, mental patients. They took them out of prisons, they took them out of mental institutions. You should never forget that that happened.”

A federal judge on Monday shut down the Trump Administration’s pilot program restricting the purchase of soda and junk food with SNAP benefits.

US District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an Obama appointee, said Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins applied the wrong law in approving a pilot program for states that wanted to restrict junk food purchases.

23 states applied for the pilot program in an effort to limit the purchase of soda, candy and other junk food.

Plaintiffs in five states filed the lawsuit against Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins.

Judge Berman Jackson’s ruling applies to five states: West Virginia, Tennessee, Colorado, Iowa and Nebraska.

A federal judge on Monday scrapped a set of state pilot programs intended to restrict the use of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program money to purchase unhealthy foods.

U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an Obama appointee, wrote in her decision that Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins, who oversees the SNAP program, misapplied federal law in approving requests from states to allow them to impose limits on what participants can buy with funds from the nation’s largest food aid program. Her ruling applies to Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee and West Virginia.

“With her solicitation and approval of the pilot projects in this case, the Secretary purports to waive not just a mere administrative or technical obstacle, but the very definition of ‘food’ as it was laid down by Congress,” Berman wrote. “Neither the USDA nor the states can force this square peg into a round hole to avoid the plain language of the statute and the requirements of 2026(k),” referencing the part of the statute that addresses projects to help improve SNAP households’ health status.

Jackson’s ruling could jeopardize one of the biggest policy achievements of the Make America Healthy Again agenda. Rollins and Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. have urged states to submit food restriction plans, arguing that they will improve health outcomes and that federal dollars shouldn’t be funding junk food.

Kennedy also incentivized the states to apply by tying some federal rural health care funding to whether states had applied for a waiver to limit foods like soda in SNAP.

Asked about Vice President JD Vance’s negotiations with Iran in Switzerland over the weekend and an upcoming trip by Marco Rubio to the Middle East, Trump said, “I think that they’re doing a fantastic job.”

“Our Secretary is fantastic; I think he’s maybe going to go down as the best ever. And I thought JD Vance this morning was fantastic. I watched his news conference from Switzerland. He’s a very smart guy, did a great job,” Trump added before taking aim at star Democrats Ilhan Omar and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“You know, when I look at the Democrats, I call them the Dumocrats; they’re dumb. They’re Dumocrats,” he said.

“When I watched that, where one of them thought it was World War Eleven, she said World War Eleven. She meant World War Two, you know about that, right? This is one of their potential leaders, Ilhan Omar, who married her brother to get into the country, by the way, illegally.”

Omar, during a press conference, once railed that the Alien Enemies Act, which Trump invoked for mass deportations against Venezuelan Tren de Aragua narco terrorists, and claimed the law was last used “during World War Eleven.”

Trump further referenced Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s humiliation on the world stage at last year’s Munich Security Conference, while trying to position herself for a 2028 Presidential run. The moderator asked AOC if the US should commit troops to defend against China, and she turned into a stuttering mess.

“When I watch AOC have no idea what a simple question, what happened when she was over in Switzerland, which she probably never went there before,” he said.

“And then I watch somebody like JD or Marco. I said, What a difference? What a difference! What a difference a brain makes!’”

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Friday blocked the Trump administration from immediately moving forward with its plan to dramatically slash the bloated workforce at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) by roughly two-thirds.

This is the latest chapter in the ongoing war between President Trump’s mandate to drain the swamp and the entrenched bureaucracy that refuses to die.

The D.C. Circuit granted the administration’s motion to send the case back to the district court for further review of an earlier injunction, but they flat-out refused to lift the stay preventing the workforce reductions from taking effect now.

They also rejected any request to impose a tight deadline on the lower court.

In short: the judges hit the brakes on the very reforms American voters demanded.

The CFPB was rammed through as part of the Dodd-Frank Act, a classic piece of post-2008 crisis overreach pushed by Democrats and Elizabeth Warren.

It was deliberately designed to operate outside normal congressional oversight, funded through the Federal Reserve instead of appropriations.

When President Trump took office for his second term, the agency had ballooned to well over 1,700 employees.

President Trump and his allies have repeatedly pushed for major reforms, arguing the bureau has become a weaponized regulator that burdens businesses and exceeds its statutory authority.

The administration’s revised plan, submitted in late March, aimed to bring that number way down through a Reduction in Force — cutting roughly two-thirds of the workforce, with especially deep cuts to the supervision and enforcement divisions that have long been accused of overreach.

Earlier attempts to cut even deeper (up to 90%) ran into the same wall of lawsuits from federal employee unions and left-wing advocacy groups. The courts have repeatedly stepped in to protect the gravy train.

A federal appeals court on Friday blocked the Trump administration from immediately cutting the workforce at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit granted the administration’s motion to return the case to the District Court.

However, it rejected the administration’s request to resume staff cuts or impose a deadline on the district judge. The administration argued the appeals court should send the case back to the lower court with a 45-day deadline to reassess an injunction the latter imposed last year — which temporarily halted the mass layoffs.
