Saudi Arabia has accused Iran-backed militias operating from Iraq of launching a drone attack against critical oil infrastructure, marking another dangerous escalation in the Middle East and raising concerns about global energy security.

According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, the kingdom’s air defense systems intercepted and destroyed several drones targeting oil facilities in the Eastern Province and areas near Riyadh. However, satellite imagery from NASA’s Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) shows significant heat signatures and active fires at Saudi Aramco’s Abqaiq processing facility, one of the world’s most important crude oil processing complexes.

Saudi officials described the incident as a “terrorist attack” carried out by militias backed by the Iranian regime and operating from Iraqi territory. Riyadh called on the Iraqi government to prevent its territory from being used as a launching pad for attacks against the kingdom and warned that Saudi Arabia “reserves the right to respond at the time and place of its choosing.”

Abqaiq: A Critical Hub for Global Oil Supplies

The Abqaiq facility, operated by Saudi Aramco, is the world’s largest crude oil stabilization plant and is estimated to process between 5% and 7% of the global oil supply. Any prolonged disruption at the site could have significant consequences for international energy markets.

Preliminary reports indicate that drones struck sections of the refinery and the East-West Pipeline Pumping Station, triggering a large fire. Satellite imagery has revealed multiple thermal hotspots and thick smoke rising from the facility, while Aramco reportedly initiated emergency flaring operations at several production sites to relieve pressure within the system.

Saudi authorities have not yet released an official assessment of the damage or confirmed whether oil production has been affected.

Growing Pressure on Iran and Its Regional Proxies

The attack comes amid heightened regional tensions following recent confrontations involving the United States and Iran, as well as increased activity by Tehran-backed militant groups across the Middle East.

For years, the United States and several Western allies have accused Iran of funding, training, and equipping organizations such as the Houthis in Yemen and Shiite militias in Iraq, groups that have repeatedly targeted Saudi Arabia, Israel, and U.S. forces stationed throughout the region.

Although no group had formally claimed responsibility at the time of publication, Saudi officials say the evidence points to Iran-backed militias operating from Iraqi territory.

Echoes of the 2019 Attack

The latest strike recalls the September 2019 drone and missile attack on the Abqaiq and Khurais facilities, which temporarily cut Saudi oil production by more than half and triggered one of the sharpest single-day increases in global oil prices in decades.

While Yemen’s Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for that attack, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and several allies concluded that Iran had played a direct role in planning or supporting the operation—an allegation Tehran has consistently denied.

Oil Markets on Alert

Energy markets reacted cautiously to reports of the attack as investors weighed the possibility of further disruptions to global crude supplies.

Analysts warn that if damage to Abqaiq proves more severe than initially reported—or if retaliatory military action leads to a broader regional conflict—oil prices could rise significantly, increasing pressure on inflation and energy costs worldwide.

The latest attack once again highlights the vulnerability of critical energy infrastructure in the Persian Gulf to increasingly sophisticated drone and missile attacks. It also underscores the growing security challenge posed by Iran-backed proxy groups, whose expanding capabilities continue to threaten regional stability.

As Saudi Arabia assesses the damage and weighs its response, governments and energy markets around the world will be closely watching whether this latest attack becomes another isolated incident—or the beginning of a broader conflict with far-reaching geopolitical and economic consequences.

Trump advisor Stephen Miller went off on Dr. Fauci during an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday evening.

Earlier Wednesday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the former NIAID director and face of America’s disastrous COVID response, finally appeared under subpoena Wednesday morning before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.

After enjoying his celebrity status and appearing on all of the networks during the Covid pandemic, all of a sudden Fauci doesn’t want to talk.

Dr. Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment in his opening statement in front of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee on his actions that led to the COVID pandemic and his many lies told to the American public.

Fauci pleaded the Fifth Amendment 111 times, prompting Senator Rand Paul to move to hold him in contempt of Congress.

Stephen Miller went off on Fauci after the explosive Senate hearing.

“Trump was the one who questioned the origins of COVID. President Trump is the one who questioned the need for requiring every single American to be tested over and over and over again!” Stephen Miller said.

“He’s the one who questioned whether we should require children and healthy adults to be subject to restrictions for an illness that primarily targets the elderly,” Miller said.

“He fought to reopen the government. And if you remember the Biden campaign in 2020 spent hundreds of millions of dollars demonizing president Trump for fighting to keep America safe to open,” Miller said.

“At every single step every day the news cycle was the so-called health care establishment attacking President Trump for questioning the experts,” he said.

Evan Barker is a young woman who used to be an activist and fundraiser for the Democrat Party, but she left the left after the 2024 election.

Because she had raised a lot of money for the party over the years, she had a chance to rub elbows with some of the most powerful people on the left.

A few years ago, she was at an event at the home of liberal billionaire Tom Steyer where he was announcing that he was pumping tens of millions into the midterm efforts of the Democrats and his wife explained their plan to the assembled crowd.

Barker was stunned to learn that there was absolutely no plan to even try to win back the voters that the Democrats had lost to Trump, mainly working class voters.

This was the moment when she began to realize that she was done with the left.

The New York Post recently published an excerpt to her new book on the topic:

On a cold evening in late March of 2022, I realized the weight of what progressives had become was unbearable. This was my last straw.

“We won’t be getting those voters; they’re not coming back — the ones who left and switched to Donald Trump — the future is young people of color!” Cristina Tzintzún Ramirez roared into the microphone.

That’s a great way to get Donald Trump re-elected, I thought to myself, feeling annoyed as I looked around at a primarily white and extremely rich crowd, who were clapping at her every word like drunken seals.

I was standing in front of Tom Steyer’s mansion in one of the most elite and exclusive neighborhoods of San Francisco. Tom is a billionaire and Democratic mega-donor. He also ran for president in 2020.

I was seven months pregnant, nearing the end of my pregnancy.

Cristina, whom I had worked for on her US Senate race in Texas, was now the executive director of Tom Steyer’s organization NextGen America, the most important liberal youth organization in the country. NextGen was the Left’s rival to Turning Point USA. They hoped to turn out millions of young people to vote, and they had deep pockets to make that happen.

The view of the Golden Gate Bridge from Tom’s front yard was breathtaking. Waiters holding silver trays of delicious hors d’oeuvres moved delicately around the small gathering, whose champagne and wine glasses clinked together.

She goes on to describe how the Democrats lost working class voters in her family to Trump and how Democrats seem to think they can make up the difference with a new coalition built on young people of color. They think this is the key to flipping Texas blue.

Officials from the city of Chicago, including the transit authority, recently made a big to-do about putting up signs in subway cars that say ‘violence will not be tolerated.’

This should work perfectly, right? Criminals will see the signs and change their behavior in order to follow the rules, right?

Of course, this assumes that potentially violent criminals on Chicago’s public transit system can read, which isn’t a safe bet.

New CTA campaign aims to deter violent crime on buses, trains

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Chicago Transit Authority are launching a new public awareness campaign warning that prosecutors will seek pretrial detention for people accused of committing violent crimes on public transit.

The initiative will place more than 7,000 signs on CTA buses and trains that say, “Violence on the CTA will not be tolerated. The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office will prosecute and seek pretrial detention for all violent offenses on public transit.”

“In order to have a safe and thriving city, we need to have a safe public transportation system,” Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke said in a statement.

“The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office is committed to doing everything we can to make our public transportation system the safest in the nation. We are putting up these signs to show how seriously we take these cases and to reinforce the consequences offenders will face for bringing violence onto the CTA.”

CTA Acting President Nora Leerhsen said the campaign is intended to reassure both riders and transit employees.

This is the same exact mentality as putting up ‘gun free zone’ signs.

Criminals do not follow the rules. It’s one of the main characteristics of being a criminal. For whatever reason, the left just doesn’t understand this.

William Jacobson is a law professor at Cornell University and also the publisher of the conservative Legal Insurrection blog.

During an appearance on the Ingraham Angle this week, Jacobson talked about the increase of leftist indoctrination in education and how that relates to the rise of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

Jacobson notes that this used to be limited to college campuses but the left keeps targeting kids at younger ages now, even in K-12.

It’s an excellent argument for home schooling.

William Jacobson: They are coming directly for your children. People need to understand that. The craziness that started on the college campuses has migrated off the college campuses. The student activists and the professor activists are now going for kids in kindergarten.

K-12 is their main focus now, because they know if they can indoctrinate children to hate their country, to hate their parents, to hate capitalism, and if they do it relentlessly, they can change society. And that’s what they’re trying to do. Nobody should kid themselves. This is extremely serious.

It’s been going on for a long time, but not quite so bold. They are emboldened by their win in the New York City Mayor’s race, and they’re going straight for the children.

Laura Ingraham: And I think you hit the nail on the head when you talked about turning kids against their parents, because the family is still the traditional structure left in the United States. Every family has their problems, its problems, every family’s different. Yeah, we get that. But still, there’s a modicum of order and tradition and we would hope respect. They want to shatter that. That’s why you got to get them young. And people can laugh off the dolls, isn’t that funny? But, you know, when kids are learning and maybe kids are a little confused, maybe they’re having a little difficult time or they’re shy or autistic, funnels them right into a particular shute that they end up in. And that’s where they think they can take them all the way to Marxism.

William Jacobson: And they’re not shy about that. If you listen to what they’re saying, that is their goal. They want to tear down the capitalist system.

They think they can do it through the children. And they might be right. Look at what’s happened so far. The popularity of socialism among younger people is astronomical at this point. So this is a move towards the kids that has been going on for a long time, for over a decade, but it’s now being accelerated by the DSA wins.
