It’s been a busy week for Zohran Mamdani in regard to his favorite legal jurisdiction.

Unfortunately, that jurisdiction doesn’t happen to be New York City, but instead the state of Israel. After again saber-rattling and threatening to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, as he promised on the campaign trail, he suddenly discovered he lacked the jurisdiction.

Not that this stopped him from calling Netanyahu a “war criminal,” despite the fact he hasn’t been (and almost certainly never will be) tried in an international court:

The saber-rattling, however, brought forth plenty of Mamdani’s old clips, including one where he said that Israel is “not a place” and “not a country” for some:

Apparently, Mr. Mamdani has built up an incredible immunity to cognitive dissonance, since he decided to take to social media to wish Jewish New Yorkers a “peaceful Tisha B’Av” — ignoring that the significance of the holiday means that Israel definitely is a place which also should be a country if there is to be a Jewish state.

“From sundown tonight until tomorrow, mourners will pause and reflect on the history and resiliency of the Jewish people,” Mamdani posted on X.

“May all observing have a safe and meaningful fast.”

After the week he’s had, you can imagine the comments section. Along with plenty of people who told him, in unrepeatable terms, to commit a physically impossible act upon himself, there were also a few who wanted to give the mayor of a city with a not insignificant number of Jewish residents a history lesson:

It turns out if you don’t believe that Israel is a place or you think that it’s a colonizer construct, you probably shouldn’t be wishing anyone a “peaceful Tisha B’Av,” where the Jewish people mourn the fact that colonizers effectively displaced them.

On the ninth of the month of Av, we commemorate the destruction of the First Temple and roughly five hundred years later, on Tisha Be-Av, the Second Temple was also destroyed. About sixty-five years later, again on the ninth of Av, the Romans conquered the city of Beitar during the Bar Kokhba revolt and Jerusalem was razed to the ground.

More than a millennium earlier, when the Jews were wandering in the wilderness, the sin of the spies took place on the ninth of Av. This was a betrayal of the Land of Israel, as a result of which the entire generation was doomed to die in the wilderness. Only their children had the privilege of entering the Promised Land. As a result of the sin, the Talmud tells us that God said to the people: “You cried for nothing on this day, so I will make this a day of crying for all future generations. If you do not rectify the sin of the spies, the Temple will be destroyed on this day.” Since we did not correct this sin by settling the Land in accordance with the Torah’s guidance, both Temples were destroyed on Tisha Be-Av.

Yes, not one but two of the Holy Temples in Jerusalem were destroyed on the ninth day of the month of Av, which is the whole reason for the holiday. It’s also worth noting, as Chabad does, that in 1313 B.C., the Israelites refused to enter the Promised Land after being told by their spies that it was dangerous and were forced by God to wander for 40 years, also traditionally on the ninth day of Av.

This is to say that Mayor Mamdani is noting that for 3,339 years, the homeland of the Jewish people has been Israel. Meanwhile, here’s a guy who’s preternaturally interested in the Holy Land, despite the fact that he doesn’t live there, doesn’t sound like he wants to live there, and certainly has no jurisdiction over it. Gosh, I wonder why.

US District Judge Brian Murphy, a Biden appointee on Friday indefinitely extended a block on the termination of Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

In 2022, the Biden Regime allowed more than 5,000 Ethiopians to enter the US and live here with special protections.

Their TPS status was extended again in April 2024 and expired on February 13, 2026.

Upon taking office again in January 2025, President Trump immediately revoked the Biden-era ‘Temporary Protected Status’ and ordered the DHS to ensure that the TPS designations were limited.

Judge Murphy previously said President Trump violated the process by revoking the protections.

Earlier this year, Judge Murphy issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) and blocked the Trump Administration from ending the protection for the Ethiopians.

The DHS previously slammed the judge for his decision:

After reviewing country conditions and consulting with the appropriate U.S. government agencies, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem determined that Ethiopia no longer met the conditions for its designation for Temporary Protected Status (TPS).

See Termination of the Designation of Ethiopia for Temporary Protected Status, 90 Fed. Reg 58028 (Dec. 15, 2025). Ethiopia’s TPS designation and related benefits were slated to terminate on Feb. 13, 2026.

However, on Jan. 30, 2026, a single judge in the U.S. District of Massachusetts stayed the Secretary’s TPS termination decision. African Communities Together et al. v. Noem et al., No. 26-cv-10278-BEM (D. Mass.).

The judge did so even though the Department of Homeland Security recently prevailed twice in the U.S. Supreme Court in a similar case.

The Department of Homeland Security vehemently disagrees with this order and is working with Department of Justice to determine next steps.

Last month, the US Supreme Court ruled that the Trump Administration is allowed to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for hundreds of thousands of Haitians and Syrians.

The high court, in a 6-3 vote, ruled that the Temporary Protected Status is… temporary!

DHS General Counsel James Percival blasted Judge Murphy on Friday afternoon.

President Trump is speaking at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Friday at the Waldorf Astoria in DC at 9 pm ET.

The WHCD had to be rescheduled after a gunman stormed the lobby of the Washington Hilton earlier this year.

“I am proud to announce we will host another dinner to be held in Washington, D.C. on Friday, July 24th,” WHCA President Weijia Jiang said to me

“Rescheduling was not automatic. It was a choice that the WHCA board made after thoughtful consideration and input from our members,” she said.

“I want to thank board members for the time and care they brought to this decision, particularly on the security front. The event will feature significantly enhanced safety measures and new access procedures. We will share additional details directly with attendees,” she said.

“Our thoughts remain with the officer who was injured and with everyone who experienced that evening. We are indebted to the US Secret Service, law enforcement and the hotel staff whose swift response protected our guests and our staff,” Jiang said.

President Trump took the stage and sat next to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Leavitt said President Trump’s speech will be “unifying yet vicious.”

Victor Gonzales, the Secret Service agent who stopped the WHCD shooter back in April will be honored with the President’s Award for Exceptional Service on Friday evening.

The White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter and would-be Trump assassin Cole Allen was indicted by a grand jury on four counts in May.

Cole Allen was hit with a total of 4 charges: Attempting to assassinate the president of the United States, transporting a firearm and ammunition with intent to commit a felony, and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence and one count of assaulting a federal officer with a deadly weapon.

The Justice Department previously released high-resolution video of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooter sprinting past a Secret Service checkpoint and opening fire.

The footage shows Cole Allen sprint through a magnetometer metal detector and open fire at a Secret Service agent in the lobby of the Washington Hilton.

The next hearing for Cole Allen is scheduled for August 20, 2026.

Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, has never sugar-coated his ill feelings toward CNN’s Jake Tapper.

In 2025, Tapper co-authored “Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again.”

Wednesday on former CNN host Don Lemon’s podcast, the younger Biden, in a series of remarks punctuated by occasional expletives, blasted Tapper as a “poor journalist” and a horrible human being.

“Were you friends with Jake Tapper?” Lemon asked about 30 minutes into the interview.

“No,” the younger Biden replied, adding that he had known Tapper for a quarter century.

“How’d you feel about the book?” Lemon then asked.

The former first son did not hold back.

“Look, here’s what I’d like to say about that, is I think that, um, Jake is, um, a complete and utter, uh, a**hole,” he said. “I think that he is, um, a really poor journalist.”

Biden also took aim at Tapper personally.

“And beyond that,” the former president’s son continued, “I don’t think he’s a very decent human being. As a person, I don’t like Jake. And so, I guess, what normally someone, when asked a question like that, like me, is supposed to say is like, ‘Oh, well, you know, here’s how I feel about it.’ I think he’s full of f***ing s***. That’s what I think.”

Moments later, Biden explained the reasons for his bitterness.

“What Jake espoused and has continued, and the way that he has spoken about me, the way he has spoken about my mother, the way that he has spoken about my father, the idea that I would tell you — and be full of s*** like everybody else usually is, and say, ‘Well, you know, I’d like to respect Jake’s long career in journalism and, you know, he’s done good things before’ — you know what? I don’t have to say that. I’m not running for anything.”

Biden added that he has a “real personal grievance” with Tapper.

When Lemon asked what Biden would say to Tapper, the former first son replied that he would say exactly what he just said.

Then, Biden looked into the camera.

“Jake, I do not like you,” he said. “I don’t like you at all. And I have a whole host of reasons why. And that’s final.”

Of course, the younger Biden merely amplified his father’s past comments.

For instance, according to The Hill, in May 2025 the former president sounded pugnacious when asked about the book co-authored by Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson.

“You can see that I’m mentally incompetent, I can’t walk — and I can beat the hell out of both of them,” the former president told reporters while smirking.

Likewise, the younger Biden has spoken of Tapper with similar disdain in past interviews.

“What influence does Jake Tapper have over anything?” the former president’s son asked in a July 2025 interview. “He has the smallest audience on cable news.”

“His rating just went to s*** after he put the book out,” the younger Biden added.

Tapper co-authored the book after spending years defending the former president against charges of cognitive decline.

A shooting in a Minnesota park has spurred Republican legislators to call for a crackdown on Somali gang activity.

Crime Watch Minneapolis said that about 50 Somali youth were at Yancey Park in Edina when shots were fired on Wednesday night, according to Alpha News.

Residents reported hearing more than 20 gunshots. No one has been arrested. No injuries were reported.

Republican Rep. Tom Emmer of Minnesota said this latest incident is proof action is needed.

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, if you won’t assimilate, then get the hell out of here,” Emmer said.

“First it was an estimated $9 billion in fraud, now it’s out-of-control violence. These Somali gangs have shot up high school graduations and assaulted players on opposing basketball teams with tire irons. It’s absolute madness, and something must be done,” he said.

Emmer urged U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen to take action in a letter expressing “grave concerns about the rise of Somali gang activity in Mim1esota, leading to an increase in crime and violence throughout the state, and we extend our full support in prosecuting those involved to the fullest extent of the law.”

The letter noted that after Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher spoke about an increase in Somali gang violence, political leaders chastised him.

However, the letter noted, “There is nothing racist about calling out Somali gang members who are wreaking havoc across our great state.”

“Minnesotans should not be shamed for identifying patterns and speaking about issues plaguing our state. We cannot ignore gang violence simply because of the demographics of those involved. We cannot ignore that there are twelve Somali gangs operating in Minnesota,” the letter said.

“We cannot ignore the fact that there is a rise in young Somalis joining the gangs, and we cannot ignore the fact that Somali gangs have been connected to fourteen murders and over one hundred shootings in the past two years,” the letter said.

Parents, community members and law enforcement gathered in Ramsey County to discuss concerns about Somali gang violence and efforts to prevent more violence.

“Ignoring this problem will only increase the violence and crime these gangs seek to perpetuate across our beautiful state,” the letter said.

The letter was signed by Emmer and fellow Republican Reps. Pete Stauber, Brad Finstad, and Michelle Fischbach.

Earlier this month, Fletcher said his office has linked Somali gangs to 14 murders and more than 100 shootings over the past two years, according to Alpha News.

Fletcher estimated about 300 young people belonging to a dozen or so gangs are at the root of the problem.

“We cannot afford to deny that there’s a problem,” Fletcher said. “We can’t be in denial because if we are, we delay getting going and getting a start to help these kids.”
