This move by the governor repealed the “Born Alive Infants Protection Act.”

This is murder in my opinion.

Eric Hafner, 35, is running to strip Alaska’s lone House seat away from Republican incumbent Rep. Nicholas Begich. But can he win? After all, Hafner is the only Democrat on the ticket, and midterms historically punish the president’s party.

There’s just one problem: Eric Hafner is nearly 3,000 miles away from Juneau, serving out a 20-year prison sentence in Otisville, New York.

According to U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger, Hafner repeatedly threatened elected representatives, judges, law enforcement officers, and private citizens.

“He further victimized these public officials, private citizens, and the public generally by calling in numerous false bomb threats to a courthouse, a police department, law firms, businesses, and an elected official’s office,” Sellinger said.

Reporting by The Blue Alaskan revealed that in 2016, Inmate #00932-005 told a police department that the officer who arrested him “deserves to get shot,” that he knew where the officer lived, and that the officer’s minor child would “get his head bashed in.”

Data from Ballotpedia suggests that just 3.8 percent of voters filled in the bubble next to this man’s name.

It is unclear whether these voters knew Hafner’s background. The ballot may have been a protest vote or a knee-jerk reaction to the “D” next to his name.

Regardless, Hafner poses a real danger to Bill Hill, the Democrat-backed independent seeking to unseat Begich.

Politico reported, “Hafner may be behind bars, but Dems fear he could lock up enough votes to help Begich hold his seat.”

To counter this, Wheel Dog, the D.C. Super PAC backing Hill, launched an ad highlighting Hafner’s unusual place of residence.

“The D by his name? Yeah, it stands for Doing Time,” the ad says.

The ad ends with a screen that reads “Alaska Democrats Vote Bill Hill.” Despite clear backing from a Democrat-funded Super PAC, Hill refuses to align himself with either party.

When Alaska’s News Source suggested that he would caucus for the Democrats, Hill responded, “I guess we’ll find out when the election comes.”

Also in the race is Libertarian Jim McDermott. Ballotpedia recorded that he received even fewer votes than Hafner.

At the end of the day, this race is about Hill and Begich.

Neither Hafner nor McDermott will likely win. However, because Alaska uses ranked-choice voting, they can seriously affect Hill’s chances of beating Begich.

According to Alaskans for Better Elections, “Ranked Choice Voting allows voters to rank candidates on the ballot in order of preference: first, second, third, and fourth.”

In this system, if a candidate gets over 50 percent of first-choice votes, they win immediately. Otherwise, the last-place candidate is eliminated, and those votes transfer to each voter’s next preference. This repeats until one candidate holds a majority.

This means second-place and third-place votes carry significant weight. If all Republicans mark Hafner as their second choice, transferred preferences could consolidate behind Begich instead of Hill.

With ranked-choice voting, Hafner may end up casting the deciding vote in an Alaska House race thousands of miles away.

One of the most underreported aspects of the 2026 midterms is that the Democrat Party is virtually broke, while Republicans are flush with cash.

The media doesn’t want people to know this because they don’t want to do anything that might hurt the Democrats’ chances of winning.

If you believe the media and the pollsters, you probably think the Democrats are on their way to a blue wave election, but the truth is that they are now begging their donors for cash so that they can be competitive.

House Democratic campaign arm says it needs $17 million, and fast

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is begging for resources, and setting a hard deadline for donors to give $17 million in order to compete in a handful of districts that Republicans carried easily in 2024.

DCCC Executive Director Julie Merz said the committee needs the cash influx by Oct. 22 in order to “to take advantage of the opportunities we have” outside of the core battlefield, according to a memo shared with donors on Friday and obtained by POLITICO.

If they don’t pony up, Merz warns, the party “could be leaving winnable races on the table.”

Democrats have been clear that they have a fundraising disadvantage this cycle, but they have so far been reluctant to place a specific dollar amount on their needs, making the DCCC’s memo Friday a particularly surprising outlier.

“Here’s the tough reality though: the Republican ecosystem has amassed a massive war chest that is significantly greater than ours and is spending it,” Merz says in the memo after arguing that the members of the committee “remain confident that we will win back the majority in 25 days.”…

The committee tells donors that their internal polling shows all of those races within reach, but that Republicans’ big cash advantages — especially in the Trump-aligned super PAC MAGA Inc. — will make it harder to win those and other reach seats.

This doesn’t really match the media narrative, does it?

Newspaper endorsements don’t carry all of the weight that they used to, but when a newspaper endorses a Republican candidate, people take notice because it doesn’t happen very often.

The media is the media and they are overwhelmingly liberal.

It is in that spirit that people are noticing the fact that the ‘Duluth News Tribune’ has endorsed Republican Michele Tafoya for U.S. Senate in Minnesota.

Endorsement: Independent-minded Michele Tafoya ready for US Senate

Patrolling the sidelines at NFL games as a reporter for the national television broadcast may not seem like training for elected office. But think about it. Massive and powerful people everywhere, whether coaches, players, or others. Inflated egos galore. All the emotions and intensity of the moment. And then having to digest volumes of information quickly, along with breaking developments, in order to ask the right questions and get positive results.

Sounds a lot like D.C., actually.

And it is part of the reason why Michele Tafoya, a former sideline reporter for Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football, is the choice for eligible Minnesota voters in the Nov. 3 election to replace stepping-down Tina Smith in the U.S. Senate. Tafoya has the smarts, the communications skills, and more to be an effective leader for the state she has called home for close to 35 years.

“Being on the No. 1 show on prime time … is no walk in the park. It’s not like you just show up and present your reports,” Tafoya said in an Oct. 2 interview with the FCC Editorial Advisory Board. “I dealt with owners, coaches, general managers, players who liked me, players who didn’t like me, coaches who were fond of me, coaches who hated me. And to face (the infamously gruff former New England Patriots Coach) Bill Belichick on Sunday nights at halftime when he’s down by 10 gave me a thick skin and the ability to say, ‘Look, I need to do my job’.”

Tafoya is running as a Republican but is no party insider. She isn’t even supported by or endorsed by President Donald Trump.

“I’m not a ring-kisser. … The only endorsement I’m looking for is that of the Minnesota voters,” she said. “I’m a very open-minded, independent thinker, and I’ve always been that way. … I am willing to work with anybody, and I am beholden to nobody. I am not beholden to party leaders, to lobbyists, or even to the president of the United States.”

If Michele Tafoya pulls out a win here – and she could – Democrats will absolutely lose their minds.

Everyone has been talking about James Talarico this week after he went missing for about twelve days. He finally resurfaced, but no explanation for his disappearance has been given.

Meanwhile, conservative historian and scholar Victor Davis Hanson is pointing out that Talarico is not the only Democrat running right now who has gone missing.

Victor Davis Hanson: It was an internal poll, but it might be correct.

And Xavier Becerra has angered the Latino community because he’s been pushing the lie that his own parents were immigrants, and his father, we’ve all found out, was actually born in Sacramento. And yes, he did go back and forth between Mexico and California, but nonetheless, he was born an American.

So the immigrant story has really angered the Latino community.

Victor Davis Hanson: Everything he said is untrue. He said he had nothing to do with losing, what, three hundred thousand people when he was [Health and Human Services Secretary]. He couldn’t even find them, right?

And then, I watched that debate, and he canceled. He just walked out of the second debate. He’s not gonna debate. It was all scheduled the day before. I think it was supposed to be tonight. He just canceled.

His advisors came to him and said, obviously, we looked at the tapes, Xavier, and you got slaughtered. You’re just a sphinx. You just sit there quiet, and then you turn to him and say, “Trump, Trump, Trump.” And then you get your little racist tidbit in, and you said you’re just wanting to get people into the country that only look like you. And then you don’t mention anything about your record or defend it. You have no idea what you want to do as governor. You can’t give an answer on high-speed rail. You can’t get [an answer] on the water bond we haven’t used. You don’t know about the homeless. You don’t know how to stop the fires.

And then he, I guess he says, yeah, but people in California don’t vote for the people. They just look at their little ballot and they say D, and 60 to 65% of the state, so they punch it. And that means to them, the SEIU and the teachers union and all these people are gonna get me more money, whether I’m a government employee and I work for the state in some fashion, or a school district, and I’m gonna get more money. And there’s all these fat cats that can pay me more money.
