In Westport, Connecticut, residents are facing the devastating environmental impact of illegals refusing to follow local laws to protect marine life.

Although there are laws meant to limit the harvesting of shellfish in the state, to protect the population of clams, steamers, oysters, and mussels, illegals are ignoring the laws and creating what could become devastating for the shellfish population in the area.

The Connecticut Sentinel notes that Connecticut General Statutes § 26-228 “prohibits taking any shells or shellfish from the shores or waters of the state between sunset and sunrise. The penalty is a fine of $100–$500 and/or up to 30 days in jail. Westport’s recreational shellfishing regulations explicitly adopt this rule. Harvesting is allowed only from sunrise to sunset.”

A resource guide from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), notes, “Shellfish are important to Connecticut’s coastal communities and economies, the waters of Long Island Sound and the many species of marine wildlife that rely upon them.”

“The harvest and cultivation of shellfish along our shores provides local food, jobs, contributes to the maritime economy, and shellfisheries are an important part of the state’s history and culture.”

“Connecticut’s aquaculture industry is an important agriculture sector. Aquaculture is the 7th highest valued agriculture product in the state according to the USDA Census of Agriculture. Marine aquaculture is the largest sector.”

Per The Connecticut Sentinel:

• A Westport recreational shellfish permit is required (annual or one-day). Children under 17 do not need their own permit but must be with a permitted adult. The permit must be displayed while harvesting.
• Daily limit: ½ bushel of shellfish per person in any 24-hour period. “Unlimited” is not allowed.
• Size limits apply (examples): hard clams (quahogs) must be at least 1.5 inches or 1 inch thick; oysters at least 3 inches; soft-shell clams 1.5 inches; razor clams 4 inches; mussels 2 inches. Undersized shellfish must be returned immediately.
• Harvest is for personal/family consumption only, not sale.

Yet illegals are harvesting shellfish “by the hundreds” at night, which could wipe out the population for everyone.

Natural escalation or state terrorism?

Under pressure of unprecedented missile and drone airstrikes, as well as Russian frontline advances in Donetsk’s ‘fortress belt’, Kiev regime leader Volodymyr Zelensky appears to be intent on severely escalating the war by closing Russian airspace, darkening the skies with drones.

Zelensky issued a warning to airlines and passengers that Russian airspace is ‘completely unsafe’ because of Ukrainian drone operations.

In the meantime, Russia’s Vladimir Putin responded that ‘there can be no negotiations with terrorists’.

“Putin was asked to respond to the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday.

‘If this was said out loud, then it is simply a move toward state terrorism’, Putin said. ‘I would also draw attention to the fact that they are asking us to resume negotiations; they are asking for face-to-face meetings’, he added. ‘There are no negotiations with terrorists’.

Putin added that Moscow would find a way to respond if Kiev’s threats resulted in any tragedies.

With Arctic’s largest military presence, Russia is describing the increased activity in the region as ‘a direct security threat’.

High North News reported:

“The exercise will include, among other things, operations involving marines from France and the Netherlands, a drone unit from Belgium and special operation forces from Finland and Denmark.

Units from the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish Home Guards will also play an important role during Arctic Shield. Canada will participate with Arctic specialists who will share their experiences with cold weather operations.

The Danish Defence Command and the Joint Arctic Command will support the activities with helicopters, vessels, medical expertise and logistical support.

The exercise is being conducted in close cooperation with the Greenlandic government, Naalakkersuisut, and forms part of Nato’s multi-domain activity Arctic Sentry.”

As The Gateway Pundit reported earlier today, Dawn Light from Sussex, Massachusetts, was taken into custody at approximately 3:40 p.m. outside the courthouse in Plymouth, just minutes after jurors were dismissed for the day without reaching a verdict.

Massachusetts State Police charged Light with one count of intimidation of a witness, juror, or person furnishing information in connection with criminal proceedings. She is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday.

According to the Boston Herald, Light allegedly attempted to photograph the jury as its members left the courthouse.

CBS Boston reporter Kristina Rex separately reported that jurors allegedly noticed they were being filmed.

Fox News reported that attorneys on either side could potentially request a mistrial over the incident.

On Wednesday morning, Dawn Light was arraigned in court for intimidating Lindsey Clancy jurors.

On Monday, during a House Oversight task force hearing, “Protecting American Citizenship: Confronting Birth Tourism,” Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) exposed birth tourism in the United States and forced an alleged founder of a company that peddles the practice to repeatedly plead the fifth.

The industry encourages women to travel to the United States specifically to give birth so the child automatically receives U.S. citizenship under the 14th Amendment’s Citizenship Clause. The child becomes a citizen at birth even if the parents have no lawful permanent status and later return home.

While giving birth on U.S. soil is not itself illegal, obtaining a visitor visa under false pretenses when the primary purpose is to secure citizenship for the child is prohibited.

Typically, women usually enter the US on B-1/B-2 visitor visas, and a commercial industry of “maternity hotels” or birthing centers offers packages that include housing, transportation, medical arrangements, and sometimes shopping or nanny services. Packages have been advertised in the $20,000–$100,000 range, often targeting clients from China, Russia, Turkey, Mexico, and elsewhere.

Pediatrician Dr. Wladimir Lorentz, who runs ‘Have My Baby in Miami,’ was grilled by Rep. Gill during the hearing and pleaded the Fifth to every substantive question about marketing, client numbers, and whether he assisted people tied to foreign governments.

According to Local10News, the company, which marketed packages to foreign pregnant women who wanted to give birth in Miami so their children would receive U.S. citizenship, advertised “complete logistical support”: help with travel documents, housing, international health insurance, a step-by-step trip guide, obstetric care, and pediatric follow-up. Its website and social media claimed more than 2,000 deliveries of international patients.

Rep. Gill asked, “Is it true that your business, ‘Have my Baby in Miami,’ marketed itself to and facilitated the entry of forgeign nationals seeking to come to the United States to give birth and to obtain birthright citizenship for their children?”

Lorentz replied, “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the questions on the grounds that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me, and I invoke my rights under the 5th Amendment of the United States.”

Rep. Gill pressed on, “Ok. Witness invokes his Fifth Amendment right. I’ve your website right here that you’d spent quite a bit of time marketing which suggests you were, in fact, facilitating the entry of foreign nationals so that they could give birth and obtain citizenship for their children.”

He continued, “This is Have my Baby in Miami’s website. On the front page of it, the last line of the commentary states, ‘Now the dream of having a child in the United States is closer to reality than you ever imagined.”

“Is this your website, Dr. Lorentz?”

Lorentz repeated, “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the questions on the grounds that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me, and I invoke my rights under the 5th Amendment of the United States.”

Rep Gill continued, “On your website there is a step-by-step guide, “Preparing for the trip to the United States.’ It’s got information on arrival, waiting for the delivery, the birth, preparing for return, and returning back home to the person’s home country. It’s even got a section on legal topics. Do you recognize this?”

Lorentz repeated, “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the questions on the grounds that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me, and I invoke my rights under the 5th Amendment of the United States.”

Undeterred, Rep. Gill asked, “Dr. Lorentz, how many babies have you birthed in the United States to the parents of foreign nationals?”

Lorentz replied, again, “On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer the questions on the grounds that a truthful answer may tend to incriminate me, and I invoke my rights under the 5th Amendment of the United States.”

Rep. Gill pressed, “Your website says over 2,000 deliveries of international patients so far, so I think we can assume it’s over 2,000.”

Lorentz continued to plead the Fifth before Gill ultimately dismissed him.

On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued an Executive Order that sought to deny birthright citizenship to children of parents who were unlawfully present or on temporary visas.

The Supreme Court struck it down on June 30, 2026, in Trump v. Barbara. 

Following the decision,  in August, President Trump signed two new executive orders on birthright citizenship and birth tourism

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller then explained the two orders, one of which will “expand the definitions of people who are ineligible for birthright citizenship,” including “alien enemies of the United States, members of foreign terrorist organizations, and large categories of people who lobby and act on behalf of foreign governments.”

The other order bans birthright tourism, the practice by which people travel to the United States solely for the purpose of giving birth to a child on our soil. “No one in the world is anymore allowed to obtain a visa for this fraudulent purpose,” Miller said.
