Immigration and Custom Enforcement (ICE) is preparing to deploy robotic dogs as part of its immigration enforcement operations.

The agency planning to spend as much as $2 million on Boston Dynamics’ four-legged Spot robots.

The Department of Homeland Security says ICE needs remotely operated robots capable of entering dangerous locations where sending officers could put them at unnecessary risk.

According to procurement documents, the robots will be used for “inspection, situational awareness, and hazard assessment” in confined, unstable and otherwise difficult-to-access environments.

ICE is expected to spend between $1 million and $2 million purchasing Spot robots and accompanying equipment.

With individual units costing roughly $75,000 before additional equipment, the contract could put dozens of robotic dogs into service.

Boston Dynamics says Spot is already used by public-safety agencies for tasks.

This includes detecting hazardous gases, inspecting suspicious packages and unexploded ordnance, conducting search-and-rescue operations, exploring underground areas and assessing fire-damaged structures.

The company says its technology is intended to “keep people out of harm’s way.”

Despite their intimidating appearance, the robots will not be armed.

Boston Dynamics prohibits customers from weaponizing Spot under its terms of use and has publicly opposed attaching weapons to general-purpose robots.

The machines have been used by other law enforcement agencies.

The Los Angeles Police Department has deployed Spot to handle potentially dangerous objects.

Meanwhile, the New York Police Department previously abandoned its robot-dog program following public opposition.

The planned purchase comes as ICE dramatically expands its use of new technology as the Trump administration tries to fulfill its promise of mass deportations.

ICE recently awarded a $16.7 million contract for 6,000 electrically charged gloves designed to help officers control resisting suspects while reducing the need for more serious forms of force.

DHS says the technology is designed to protect immigration officers facing threats and violence from illegal aliens in the field.

“ICE is constantly assessing the needs of our officers in the field to ensure they have the tools and equipment necessary to safely arrest and remove criminal illegal aliens from our country,” a DHS spokesperson said.

Immigration arrests surged to nearly 50,000 in July, marking the highest monthly total of Trump’s second term.

The agency has also widened its enforcement operations, dramatically increased staffing and strengthened cooperation with state and local authorities.

Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro is still refusing to provide the public with basic information about two deaths his administration labeled “measles-associated,” even after the Lancaster County coroner determined that one of the individuals, a newborn baby, died from a ruptured spleen and massive blood loss, not measles.

During a Friday press conference, a reporter confronted Shapiro directly about the serious discrepancy between his administration’s explosive announcement and the findings of Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Stephen Diamantoni.

“Since you had your news conference in Lancaster, we’ve learned a little bit more information about the case with the baby—that it was a newborn,” the reporter said.

“The coroner said that it was a ruptured spleen and didn’t consider it a measles death,” she continued. “Given the fact that we’re in an environment where there is misinformation and there is confusion, why not be a little more specific and transparent about that case?”

Shapiro would not answer. He waved the question off as if Pennsylvanians were not entitled to know whether their governor just stood in a hospital and used a dead infant as a political prop.

The Democrat governor dismissed the growing demands for transparency as “conspiracy theories.”

“I don’t think it serves the interest of public health or slows the spread of this outbreak for me to get into a back-and-forth about conspiracy theories that are showing up online,” Shapiro said.

Dr. Diamantoni confirmed that the newborn died from a lacerated and ruptured spleen, which caused massive blood loss.

The infant tested positive for measles, but the coroner said measles was not the cause of death.

“We don’t consider that a measles death,” Diamantoni said.

The coroner also said measles was not identified as a contributing factor and that the baby’s spleen showed no swelling or enlargement that would suggest measles caused the rupture. The investigation into what caused the injury remains open, although authorities reportedly do not suspect foul play.

Shapiro’s Department of Health has since admitted that the newborn was one of the two cases included in its announcement.

The state is using the carefully crafted term “measles-associated” to describe a death in which there is laboratory or epidemiological evidence of measles, even if the disease was not determined to be the immediate or contributing cause of death.

The Shapiro administration also repeatedly emphasized that both individuals were “unvaccinated.” However, the routine first MMR dose is not administered to newborn babies. The Department of Health’s decision to highlight the infant’s vaccination status without initially disclosing that the individual was a newborn raised even more questions about whether the tragic death was being exploited to push a political narrative.

And what about the second alleged “measles-associated” death?

The public still knows virtually nothing.

Diamantoni said his office has no information about a second death in Lancaster County, while Shapiro’s administration continues to withhold the individual’s age, cause of death, medical history, and reason for being unvaccinated.

The state’s own August 25 announcement disclosed the vaccination status of both individuals but refused to provide additional details, citing patient privacy.

Shapiro apparently believes state law allows his administration to reveal politically useful information—but prohibits officials from releasing any information that might permit the public to evaluate the accuracy of his claims.

Even Dr. Paul Offit, a prominent vaccine advocate and outspoken critic of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., said Pennsylvania officials could have released the patients’ ages, causes of death, and reasons for being unvaccinated without violating confidentiality.

Offit said the administration’s secrecy “created fertile ground for conspiracy theories to thrive.”

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Lancaster County officials initially found zero deaths attributed to measles after Shapiro traveled to the county and held a headline-grabbing press conference announcing the two deaths.

The Gateway Pundit later reported that Lancaster County Commissioner Josh Parsons blasted the Shapiro administration for refusing to provide answers after the coroner confirmed that the newborn died with measles, not from measles.

“For the first case, they are pointing to an infant that died WITH measles, but not FROM it,” Parsons wrote. “The second case there is zero information on. They have a responsibility to provide it.”

Secretary Kennedy has also accused Pennsylvania officials of refusing to provide federal health authorities with sufficient information to independently verify the deaths. The CDC said it was working to “clarify conflicting information” and determine whether the two reported deaths were caused by measles.

Shapiro, meanwhile, continues to smear legitimate questions from reporters, county officials, the coroner, and federal health authorities as “conspiracy theories.”

If Josh Shapiro cannot tell Pennsylvanians the truth about these cases, he should resign.

Wyoming Republican Gov. Mark Gordon is complaining about federal election monitors sent to observe last week’s primary elections.

Gordon is also ordering an investigation after Justice Department officials attempted to examine voting procedures in the state.

Two DOJ monitors arrived at a polling location in Cheyenne last Tuesday as part of a federal effort to ensure elections comply with voting and civil-rights laws.

According to Laramie County Clerk Debra Lee, the monitors asked questions about election procedures, sought to speak with voters and requested access to voting equipment.

Local officials refused some of those requests, and Gordon was less than pleased.

“It was aggressive, unexpected, disruptive and certainly didn’t seem to show respect for the state,” Gordon moaned.

“We’re going to get to the bottom of it as best we can.”

The monitors ultimately visited six polling locations as part of their work overseeing the election.

Rather than welcoming additional scrutiny of Wyoming’s election procedures, Gordon announced that he had asked state Attorney General Keith Kautz to investigate what happened.

“I feel very strongly about the federal government coming in and taking our guns — I don’t like that,” Gordon said during a meeting with election officials.

“And I don’t like the federal government coming in and taking our votes, either.”

The Justice Department says its monitors were there to protect voters and ensure compliance with federal law.

Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray also pointed out that state law permits election observation.

“Wyoming election law does provide for observation,” Gray said.

The monitors reportedly asked officials about poll-worker training, election equipment and voting tabulators.

“They included questions about the nature, length and timing of poll worker training,” Lee said.

“Monitors requested training guides, asked how our new election equipment was acquired and wanted to examine our tabulators.”

Lee nevertheless accused the federal officials of displaying a “complete disregard for our state laws and administration of our elections.”

The Justice Department has expanded election monitoring ahead of November’s crucial midterm elections, deploying approximately 80 observers across seven states during the primary season.

Federal officials say their only objectives are election security, transparency and enforcement of federal voting laws.

California Rep. Ro Khanna has slammed President Trump’s oil deal with Venezuela, comparing it to colonialism.

His comments come after President Trump announced that the U.S. had entered into a deal with Venezuela to take control of 65 billion barrels of oil reserves.

“This Historic Transaction MORE THAN DOUBLES American Oil Reserves, greatly increases our Oil Supply, and will substantially lower Gas Prices for all Americans, long into the future, while helping to continue to set Venezuela on a course toward Tremendous Success and Great Prosperity,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

In an interview with MS NOW’s Chris Hayes, Khanna accused Trump of bringing back a “colonial model” to U.S. foreign policy.

He explained:

[It is] sad to see. It’s like we’ve rolled back the clock 100 years. Yeah, the era of gunboat diplomacy and, you know, the history. So what we did in Guatemala, what we did in El Salvador, what we did in Haiti, but it’s wrong. It’s wrong to have a colonial model of the world. I mean, my grandfather was in jail twice fighting for British independence.

It was FDR who pushed Churchill to decolonize. And I thought America, had stood for decolonization. Trump is rolling it all back because he simply believes in a world where might makes right, where you take what you can.

We need to oppose it on moral grounds. It’s not just that it’s strategically wrong. It’s morally wrong. It’s not what America should be, given our principles.

The $4 million figure appears in recent state-level budget stories, not in connection with JD Vance who had no role in the state budgets.

Missouri reduced its state allocation from about $6 million to $2 million for fiscal year 2027—a $4 million cut that froze new enrollments starting July 1, 2026. Indiana had allocated $4 million for one year of a prior biennial budget before eliminating the state match entirely. Other states (Washington, Maine, parts of Kentucky and Nevada) also reduced or ended matching funds. These were decisions by state legislatures and governors.
