Disgraced Far-Left CNN Anchor Christiane Amanpour Announces She’s Leaving Network After 43 Years as New Ownership Takes Control
October 19, 2026

Another longtime face of CNN is heading for the exit.
CNN’s longtime chief international anchor and far-left propagandist Christiane Amanpour announced Monday that she is separating from the network next June after 43 years.
The 68-year-old, who has spent decades pushing anti-Trump, anti-Israel narratives under the guise of “independent journalism,” said she will end her daily CNN and PBS programs at the close of 2026, shift her CNN International show to a weekly format through May 2027, and exit fully by the end of June.
In a statement, Amanpour wrote: “After many months of thought and a few sleepless nights, I have decided to separate from CNN, my partner of 43 fantastic years!”
She added that she “looks forward to interesting new projects down the line, and will always be rooting for CNN and maintaining its history of independent journalism. Remember: always be truthful, not neutral.”
Amanpour: “Hi, everyone. I wanted to give you some news about myself and about this show.
After thinking carefully for several months and experiencing a few sleepless nights, as you can imagine, I’ve decided to separate from CNN, my partner of 43 fantastic years—longer than many marriages.
So, this daily show on CNN and PBS will come to an end at the end of this year. But CNN and I have worked out a smooth transition where I’ll continue doing Amanpour once a week through to June.
Now, there’s no “I” in team, and my whole career has been teamwork to make the dream work. So, I want to thank all the amazingly talented people I’ve worked with throughout this incredible journey, especially my beloved show teams and field crews.
From my very first big, exciting assignment covering the first Gulf War to the horrors of the Bosnian War, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Iran, Ukraine, and all the points in between, it is the teams and the camaraderie we built that counted so much as we together battled to find the facts, to bring you the evidence and the humanity, so that CNN could always broadcast the truth about the world without fear nor favor.
Now, you know, I’ve always been fiercely independent, and I will continue to be that for you for as long as I am here and beyond.
That’s especially important today as we face unprecedented pressures from all sides—political, financial, and also from the rising dangers in the field.
I’ll always be rooting for CNN maintaining its history of independent journalism.
Meantime, stay tuned. Keep watching Amanpour on CNN and also my podcast, The X-Files with Global.
And finally, thank you all for watching, listening, and engaging with me for all these years, for trusting me and this show.”

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Amanpour came under fire in October 2025 after suggesting that Israeli hostages held by Hamas may have received better treatment than Palestinian civilians in Gaza because the terrorist organization considered them valuable bargaining chips.
In April 2026, The Gateway Pundit detailed her attempt to insult Secretary of War Pete Hegseth by equating her Gulf War press credential (an administrative rank sometimes issued to journalists for access) with his actual combat service as an Army major. Veterans, including retired Lt. Col. Robert “Buzz” Patterson, called it “stolen valor.”
Earlier coverage from The Gateway Pundit includes her 2020 comparison of the Trump presidency to the Nazis’ Kristallnacht and her 2018 on-air cheerleading of “necessary activism” against Trump, whom she described as a “grave and existential threat” to journalism.
She has also been called out over the years for soft coverage of Iran’s regime and for framing Western concerns about radical Islam or border issues in ways that align with progressive priorities.
Amanpour’s announcement comes shortly after Paramount completed its acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery, placing CNN under the control of the Ellison-led media conglomerate.
As The Gateway Pundit reported last week, the $81 billion takeover brought CNN, CBS, HBO, and Warner Bros. under a new corporate structure.
The development marks a major turning point for a media organization that has spent years facing criticism from President Trump and conservative audiences.
