LIAR: James Talarico Suddenly Says There Are Only Two Sexes After Claiming There are “Six Genders” — “I Missed the Mark on Some of My Past Statements”

After years of pushing the far-left’s extreme gender ideology, far-left Texas Democrat and Senate candidate James Talarico was caught backpedaling furiously on his past claims.

Speaking with Fox News national correspondent Brooke Taylor on The Story, Talarico admitted he “missed the mark on some of my past statements.”

Asked about his 2021 claim that there are six biological sexes, the Austin Democrat said, “There are not six sexes. There are two.” He added that he “didn’t say it correctly” at the time, then quickly changed the subject to diesel prices, groceries, utilities, and health care.

In 2021, during debate over legislation concerning transgender participation in school sports, Talarico claimed that “modern science” recognized six biological sexes.

He listed chromosomal disorders and declared that “biologically speaking, scientifically speaking, sex is a spectrum, and oftentimes can be very ambiguous.” He was arguing against protecting female athletes.

Brooke Taylor:

In the 2021 hearing, you said there are six biological sexes. Do you still believe that, standing here with me right now?

James Talarico:

No, I’ve missed the mark on some of my past statements. I will be the first to admit it. What I meant is that there are two sexes, and then there’s a small percentage of people with genetic abnormalities. I obviously didn’t say it correctly. There are not six sexes. There are two.

And I think the reason that politicians in that convention center across the street want to talk about six sexes is because they don’t want to talk about $6 diesel. Everywhere I go across the state of Texas, people are struggling to survive in this economy. They are struggling to afford the basics—groceries, gas, utilities, and health care. And that’s what I’m going to be focused on from now until Election Day.

Brooke Taylor:

So, just to nail it down here: Standing with me, you can confidently say there are two sexes—a man and a woman?

James Talarico:

Absolutely.

Brooke Taylor:

What would your response be to voters who listen to this and say, “You know, he had this stance. This seems like a drastic 180 from what we’ve heard from him in the past. Is he just trying to get our vote, and then, once he governs, he’s going to govern as a progressive?”

James Talarico:

I would look at my legislative history. You shouldn’t believe anything a politician says, whether it’s me or Ken Paxton

This is the same James Talarico who spent years treating biological reality as optional when it came to Texas girls.

As Spectrum News reported, Talarico voted against Texas legislation restricting transgender students from competing on athletic teams corresponding with their gender identity. His campaign subsequently said he opposes such participation when it jeopardizes fairness or safety.

Talarico also voted against Texas Senate Bill 14 in 2023. The legislation prohibited physicians from providing certain gender-transition procedures, puberty blockers, and cross-sex hormones to minors. The bill passed the Republican-controlled Legislature, was signed by Governor Greg Abbott, and became effective on September 1, 2023, according to the official legislative history.

The Gateway Pundit previously reported that Talarico argued during the 2023 debate that doctors had a “moral obligation” to treat children experiencing severe gender dysphoria.
