October 13, 2026
The man who plunged to his death from a Georgia Six Flags rollercoaster on Monday has been identified as 42-year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem.
Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem was an IT manager and a tech teacher for Atlanta Public Schools.
Kariem fell from the Goliath rollercoaster, one of the park’s largest and most recognizable attractions, and hit other riders.
Witnesses described the horrifying moments Kariem fell from the rollercoaster.
Witness Cody Alcorn told local outlets that Kariem “fell and hit the car three different times.” He added that the falling victim was captured on their souvenir photo from the day: “He was in our pictures.”

Another witness who was on the ride at the time Kariem plunged to his death says the rollercoaster seats appeared to be faulty.
“It would unlock and lock, unlock and lock. It kept clicking like it was unlocking and re-locking,” a woman who was on the ride told WSB-TV.
“He hit a girl two rows in front of us on the Goliath ride right where the pictures are taken. His blood splattered over everybody, and his body fell behind one of the haunted attractions,” the woman said.
Aerial footage captured by WSB-TV’s NewsChopper 2 showed riders being evacuated.
Kariem’s wife reportedly watched her husband plunge to his death.
