Danny de Vito’s character in the 1997 crime film, ‘LA Confidential’, Sid Hudgens, was a yellow journalist always trying to uncover the scandals of celebrities, with his motto ‘Off the record, on the QT, and very hush-hush.’

Well, it sounds like Hudgens would be thrilled to cover the activities in the very ‘LA Confidential’ movie set, as Academy Award nominee Guy Pearce has come public to once again claim that embattled actor Kevin Spacey ‘targeted’ him during the shooting of the movie.

The ‘Brutalist’ actor Pearce recalled his interactions with Spacey that left5 him ‘scared and uncomfortable’.

New York Post reported:

“’I probably was a victim to a degree; I was certainly not a victim by any means to the extent that other people have been to sexual predators’, Pearce said on the Hollywood Reporter’s ‘Awards Chatter’ podcast.”

Pearce says he dismissed Spacey’s alleged actions for the nearly half a year of shooting.

“‘Ah, that’s nothing. Ah, no, that’s nothing’, he said, recalling what he told himself at the time. ‘I did that for five months, and really I was sort of scared of Kevin because he’s quite an aggressive man’.

‘He’s extremely charming and brilliant at what he does — really impressive. He holds a room remarkably. But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted me, no question’, Pearce added.”

Pearce, then 29, starred opposite Spacey and Russell Crowe in the classic 1997 film, based on the novel by James Ellroy.

He has previously called Spacey a ‘handsy guy’, and said that he only felt safe on set when actor Simon Baker was around.

“’The only days I feel safe are the days when [Simon Baker] is on set because I’m dumped like a hot potato, and [Kevin] focuses on [Simon] because he was 10 times prettier than I am’, he said.”

Spacey responded to Pearce on a nearly two-minute video rebuttal on X social media platform.

This comes as Spacey is attempting a comeback after falling into disgrace as the #MeToo movement started to take shape.

“The ‘American Beauty’ actor was accused of committing sex offenses against four men between 2004 and 2013 while he was serving as artistic director at London’s historic Old Vic Theatre.”

He was charged with nine separate counts — including sexual assault and ‘causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent’ – but was deemed innocent in July 2023.

We have seen many recent air travel accidents.

Over the course of just a few weeks, there was a Black Hawk helicopter that collided with an American Airlines commercial flight over the Potomac River, not to mention a smaller plane crash in Philadelphia and a Delta plane flipping upside down on a runway in Toronto.

Americans are starting to become nervous about air travel.

Many are pointing fingers at the recent emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion from major airlines and the federal government as one factor decreasing safety in the sector.

In that same vein, as the new Trump administration grapples with the safety challenges facing commercial air travel, a new analysis from The Washington Times revealed that the Biden administration tried to work green technology into core air traffic control systems.

Rather than building remote towers, which are cameras mounted on tall structures and are common in Europe, the Biden administration opted to invest in conventional air traffic control towers, a less safe and more expensive model.

They also earmarked a whopping $500 million for the design and construction of as many as 31 “sustainable” towers at smaller municipal airports across the country.

“These new air traffic control towers will mean that smaller airports can handle more flights, more sustainably and more affordably,” now-former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg announced in the spring of 2023, according to the Times.

“I look forward to seeing this design go from the drawing board to construction sites across the country, helping our nation’s airports support more travelers, grow their local economies and prepare for the future of low-carbon aviation,” he added.

Practice for Architecture and Urbanism, a firm based in Manhattan, won the design contract.

The company says on its website that it is known for “building ecological, equitable, and joyous communities.”

Executives laid out an ambitious plan for structures that were all-electric and made of “renewable mass timber” and recycled steel, as well as being equipped with geothermal heating and cooling, not to mention other renewable energy features.

The FAA told firms seeking the lucrative contract “to think outside the box, using your innovation and creativity to turn exciting ideas into our new reality,” per the Times.

That seems to be exactly what Practice for Architecture and Urbanism accomplished.

But was that the right decision?

Our nation has been thinking “outside the box” in a number of ways, especially socially and politically, yet the result has not always been stellar.

The environmental movement, the diversity movement, and the social justice movement all claim to create an “outside the box” sort of utopia, but instead, they have undermined the foundations of our society, making us realize that perhaps things were not so bad after all back inside the four walls of said box.

As applied to aviation, that involved hiring people based on merit, not on the color of their skin, or building structures for safety, rather than based on the carbon emissions of their operations.

Perhaps it is indeed time to think a bit more “inside the box.”

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration, challenging its decision to suspend federal funding for refugee resettlement.

The move comes as part of President Donald Trump’s broader effort to realign American priorities—protecting the homeland first, rather than funding programs that facilitate unchecked migration.

The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, names the State Department, the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as defendants.

USCCB is incorporated as a non-profit and headquartered in the District of Columbia.

USCCB alleges that the administration’s decision to freeze funds allocated for refugee assistance is not only unlawful but also in direct violation of congressional appropriations and statutory obligations under the Refugee Act of 1980.

According to the complaint:

For nearly 80 years, the Catholic Church has been caring for refugees within the United States. Refugees face significant challenges upon entering the country, including locating housing, learning English, and finding employment.

The Church has long helped to ease those burdens and integrate refugees into American society by providing shelter, clothing, food, and training.

This work is an expression of charity taken in fulfillment of Christ’s commandment to serve those in need, regardless of their race, creed, or color.

For more than sixty years, Congress likewise has recognized that refugee assis- tance and resettlement is not just a moral imperative, but also is essential to this country’s interests.

In 1962, in response to the increase of refugees fleeing communist countries, Congress passed the Migration and Refugee Assistance Act, which authorized the appropriation of funds to address “urgent refugee and migration needs.”

Under the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program, individuals outside the United States who have been persecuted or fear persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, or certain other grounds can seek legal admission into the United States. Refugees are screened abroad for eligibility and admissibility—a rigorous process that involves security and biometric checks, interviews, and medical screening, among other things.

A core component of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program is federal funding for “domestic assistance” for the resettlement of newly arrived refugees, in partnership with private non-profit organizations. 8 U.S.C. § 1522. Rather than rely entirely on private charitable organizations to provide resettlement assistance, Congress made it the “policy of the United States” to commit federal funds in order to “promote opportunities for [refugee] resettlement.” Refugee Act of 1980.

The USCCB’s lawsuit hinges on the claim that the suspension of federal funds for refugee resettlement leaves thousands of refugees in limbo. But what these bishops fail to acknowledge is the utter disaster that Joe Biden’s reckless immigration policies have created.

Under his administration, the southern border became a lawless free-for-all, allowing millions of unvetted illegal immigrants to flood into American communities, overwhelming law enforcement, hospitals, and schools.

Trump’s decision to pause this funding is a necessary step to clean up Biden’s mess and reassess where taxpayer dollars are actually going. Instead of prioritizing illegal migrants, Trump’s administration is focused on helping struggling American families, veterans, and homeless citizens—a fact that the liberal media and activist organizations conveniently ignore.

Last month, President Donald Trump signed Executive Order 14155, titled “Realigning the United States Refugee Admissions Program,” which suspended the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) effective January 27, 2025.

This order halted the entry of refugees into the United States and suspended federal funding to organizations assisting refugees, including those already in the country. The suspension was to remain in effect until a determination was made that resuming the program aligned with U.S. interests.

President Trump’s advisers are reportedly considering Alice Marie Johnson for the position of “pardon czar.”

Johnson, a former federal inmate whose life sentence was commuted by President Trump in 2018 and who received a full pardon in 2020, has since become a prominent advocate for clemency and justice reform.

Johnson’s journey from incarceration to advocacy began with a 1996 conviction for nonviolent drug offenses.

She was convicted on multiple charges, including conspiracy to possess cocaine with intent to distribute and money laundering, leading to a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

During her 21 years of incarceration, Johnson became a model prisoner, mentoring fellow inmates, becoming an ordained minister, and advocating for prison reform.

Her case drew widespread attention when Kim Kardashian West highlighted it in 2018, leading to a meeting with President Donald Trump.

Subsequently, on June 6, 2018, President Trump commuted Johnson’s sentence, and she was released from the Federal Correctional Institution in Aliceville, Alabama.

Following her release, Johnson has been an active voice in criminal justice reform. She played a pivotal role in advocating for the First Step Act, a bipartisan bill aimed at reducing sentences for certain offenders.

In 2019, she published her memoir, “After Life: My Journey From Incarceration to Freedom,” detailing her experiences and journey toward freedom. In August 2020, President Trump granted her a full pardon.

Now, reports suggest that President Trump’s advisers are considering appointing Johnson as a “Pardon Czar.”

President Trump’s advisers are considering Alice Marie Johnson, who was serving a life sentence for a drug conviction when the president commuted her sentence during his first term, to be the “pardon czar,” according to three people familiar with the discussions.

It was not immediately clear what the role would entail, but Ms. Johnson, at the end of Mr. Trump’s first term, said she wanted to work on behalf of people she believed should be considered for clemency.

Ms. Johnson’s appointment has not been finalized, and like many things in Mr. Trump’s world, plans could change. When reached by phone, Ms. Johnson declined to comment. A White House spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.
