UNBOXING THE TARANTULAS: German Customs Seize 1,500 Spiders Hidden in Sponge Cake Boxes

1,500 tarantulas do NOT smell like chocolate sponge cake.

The illegal wildlife trafficking has become one of the top illicit trades worldwide, generating as much as $23 billion a year in a massive and unregulated global trade.

The animals are smuggled for clandestine scientific research, collectors and pet enthusiasts and for resale in black markets.

Western nations have stepped up their efforts to curb this dark trend, leading to more seizures, as just happened today (14) in Germany.

Customs officials on Monday released photos from a seizure of roughly 1,500 young tarantulas.

The spiders were found inside plastic containers that hidden in chocolate sponge cake boxes that were shipped to western Germany.

ABC News reported:

“Customs officials found the shipment at Cologne Bonn airport in a package that had arrived from Vietnam, tipped off by a ‘noticeable smell’ that didn’t resemble the expected aroma of the 7 kilograms (about 15 pounds) of the confectionery treats, Cologne customs office spokesman Jens Ahland said.

‘My colleagues at the airport are regularly surprised by the contents of prohibited packages from all over the world, but the fact that they found around 1,500 small plastic containers containing young tarantulas in this package left even the most experienced among them speechless’, Ahland said in a statement.”

The ‘extraordinary seizure’ was not able to save many of the spiders’ lives, as they didn’t survive the trip.

The survivors of the ordeal were given to the care of an expert handler, the office said.

The survivor tarantulas are under the care of a specialist.

“Criminal proceedings are underway against the intended recipient in the Sauerland region, east of the airport, in part for alleged violations of failure to pay the proper import duties and make the proper customs declarations, the office said.”

Colorado’s 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has decided to drop charges against Solomon Galligan, a 33‑year‑old registered sex offender who brazenly attempted to abduct an 11‑year‑old boy from Black Forest Hills Elementary School during recess in April 2024.

The Gateway Pundit reported last year that parents received an urgent message from the school administration detailing how an unidentified adult male trespassed onto the school’s field, approached a group of fifth graders, and briefly engaged with them before leaving the premises.

According to the Aurora Police Department (APD), the suspect appeared to attempt to grab one of the students but exited the school grounds before law enforcement arrived.

A search in the vicinity soon led to the apprehension of 33-year-old Solomon Galligan, identified as a sex offender with a history of similar charges dating back to 2012, KDVR reported.

Galligan’s arrest came after officers matched him to the suspect description and further investigated his background, revealing a recent arrest in January 2024 for failing to register as a sex offender.

The Cherry Creek School District 5, under which Black Forest Hills Elementary operates, promptly informed parents of the arrest and the charge of attempted kidnapping against Galligan.

The district conducted an investigation, which led to the dismissal of then‑principal Amanda Replogle, who acknowledged that the school should have been placed on secure status immediately after the incident.

However, on Friday, the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office—which serves Arapahoe County, including Aurora and Littleton—announced to FOX31 its intention to dismiss charges against Galligan.

FOX13 reported:

After his arrest, Galligan underwent a mental competency evaluation that determined he was unfit to stand trial. As a result, prosecutors claimed they have no choice but to drop the charges.

Galligan’s guilt is not the issue for prosecutors. The alleged crime was captured on video that showed a man chasing after and grabbing at a student as other children ran away.

“It’s super scary to watch,” Dante White, whose child encountered the suspect, told FOX31 when the incident happened. “Especially seeing the perpetrator, the pictures of him. I would be freaked out if that guy touched me. It was an attempted kidnapping.”

BREAKING: Project Veritas: Text Messages Show Secret Service Agent Disclosing Operational Details to Stranger, Disparaging President Trump

BREAKING: Project Veritas: Text Messages Show Secret Service Agent Disclosing Operational Details to Stranger, Disparaging President Trump
July 14, 2025

One year after Secret Service security failures led to an assassination attempt against President Trump…

Project Veritas on Monday released text messages from a Secret Service Agent inviting a stranger to the White House, disclosing operational details, and disparaging President Trump.

Without knowing her identity, Secret Service Agent Marc Hendrickson invited a female Project Veritas journalist to the White House.

The undercover journalist expressed her hatred for President Trump to which Hendrickson replied, “Yeah, he’s doing a lot of whacky shit right now.”

Via Project Veritas:

Text messages with Hendrickson reveal this agent engaging in egregious violations of Secret Service safety and confidentiality protocols. Without knowing the identity of our female journalist, Hendrickson:

1. Invited her to “come say hi” to him at the White House, a secure facility central to national security.

2. Sent a photo from the White House, boasting that he works there “every day.”

3. Disclosed sensitive operational details, stating, “I’m in protection, I travel with protectees and provide access control wherever they are.”

4. Made disparaging remarks about the Commander-in-Chief, claiming President Trump is “doing a lot of wacky shit right now.”

Hendrickson’s reckless actions – inviting an unknown individual to the White House, sharing sensitive photos, and disclosing operational details – expose a severe lapse in judgment and a dangerous breach of security. This behavior reveals how easily he could be compromised or manipulated by adversaries, potentially granting hostile actors critical access or intelligence that jeopardizes the safety of President Trump and the nation.

This betrayal is particularly chilling as it coincides with the one-year anniversary of the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt on President Trump – a stark reminder of the relentless threats facing our leaders. Hendrickson’s conduct mocks the Secret Service’s motto, “Worthy of Trust and Confidence,” and erodes public trust in the agency’s ability to secure the White House and its protectees.

Project Veritas has demanded answers from Secret Service leadership regarding Hendrickson’s status, the investigation into his actions, and immediate steps to prevent future breaches.

As the Secret Service continues to confront the fallout from the catastrophic security failures of July 13, 2024, this video exposes ongoing internal weaknesses. The American people demand a Secret Service they can trust without question – can the agency truly claim to be “Worthy of Trust and Confidence”?

The Secret Service has not responded to Project Veritas’ request for comment.

Last week it was reported that several Secret Service agents connected to the Butler assassination attempt were temporarily suspended without pay.

Jamie Raskin Demands Subpoenas for Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and Dan Bongino to Testify on Epstein Files (VIDEO)

Jamie Raskin Demands Subpoenas for Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and Dan Bongino to Testify on Epstein Files (VIDEO)
July 14, 2025

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D‑MD), ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, is urging Chairman Jim Jordan to issue subpoenas to Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino.

Raskin wants them to testify under oath on the scope, contents, and decision-making process behind the release—or withholding—of the Epstein files.

Last week, Raskin, joined by 15 other radical Democrats, sent a six-page letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi accusing her of “withholding” Epstein-related documents to protect President Trump.

According to the letter:

This Administration has repeatedly claimed that President Trump is “the most transparent and accessible president in American history.” So far, your DOJ has not only failed to live up to this promise, but you have also consistently hidden from the American public materials and information that may be damaging to President Trump.

Earlier last month, Elon Musk, the former senior advisor to President Trump and head of the Department of Government Efficiency, posted on his social media website, X, that President Trump “is in the Epstein files.

That is the real reason they have not been made public.” His tweet, which has since been deleted, was clearly referring to records related to the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender, in the possession of the FBI and DOJ.

At his confirmation hearing, Director Patel vowed to release the Epstein files, stating that he would “make sure the American public knows the full weight of what happened.”

In February 2025, you came under intense public criticism after releasing the “first phase” of roughly 200 pages of the Epstein files that consisted largely of information that was already public.

Subsequently, you reportedly ordered hundreds of FBI agents, many of whom were usually focusing on national security matters, to review the Epstein files.

Agents that were assigned for this review reportedly “clocked more than 100 hours of work over the most recent two-week pay period, including a marathon session last weekend, during which they slept on desks while waiting for new batches of Epstein records to process.” In April, you claimed the FBI was reviewing “tens of thousands of videos” of Mr. Epstein “with children or child porn.”

Despite this immense effort, no additional Epstein records have been released, and just this week, the FBI stated that it has determined “no further disclosure would be appropriate or warranted.”

This raises the question of whether the White House has moved to prevent the declassification and public release of the full Epstein files because they implicate President Trump, and whether these massive redaction efforts and the withholding of the files were intended to shield your boss from embarrassing revelations within those files.

During an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, Raskin said, “It’d be much better for everybody to come clean, and let’s vindicate the public interest here. I’m going to be asking Chairman Jordan to call for a hearing where we subpoena the Attorney General, Dan Bongino, and Kash Patel to come in and tell us everything that we know—because this thing is really spinning out of control at this point. And there’s one way to put it to rest, which is to come clean, as President Trump promised he would during the campaign.”
