Middle Tennessee State University fired its assistant dean Wednesday after disrespectful posts saying she was “celebrating” the death of Charlie Kirk.

Laura Sosh-Lightsy, the assistant dean of students, allegedly shared two Facebook posts regarding Kirk’s assassination Wednesday on a college campus in Utah.

“Looks like ol’ Charlie spoke his fate into existence. Hate begets hate. ZERO sympathy,” Sosh-Lightsy wrote in one post, which X user Matthew Hurtt shared as a screen shot.

In a follow-up post shortly after, Sosh-Lightsy agreed with a meme about Kirk.

“Yep. Hate begets hate,” she wrote. “Still no sympathy. You get back what you put into the world tenfold.”

Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee shared Hurtt’s screen shots on X, notifying MTSU of Sosh-Lightsy’s comments.

“This person should be ashamed of her post. She should be removed from her position at @MTSU,” Blackburn wrote on X.

Later that night, MTSU President Sidney McPhee announced in a statement that he had terminated someone at the university.

“An MTSU employee today offered inappropriate and callous comments on social media concerning the horrific and tragic murder of Charlie Kirk,” McPhee wrote in the statement.

“The comments by this employee, who worked in a position of trust directly with students, were inconsistent with our values and have undermined the university’s credibility and reputation with our students, faculty, staff, and the community at large.

“This employee has been fired effective immediately. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Kirk family,” McPhee said.

University spokesman Jimmy Hart later confirmed that the employee was Sosh-Lightsy, according to The Tennessean.

McPhee posted a follow-up statement to Facebook Thursday, addressing the campus community.

“This is the time when we count on our staff to be thoughtful, supportive and even-keeled. The best antidote for stress is caring,” McPhee wrote in part. “Imagine our shock, then, when we learned that an employee had posted callous and insensitive comments on Facebook to an audience that certainly knows of her role at MTSU.”

“Speech can have consequences and her thoughtlessness and lack of empathy mean that no one walking into her office can see her as an objective arbiter of facts,” McPhee said later in the statement.

Vice President JD Vance will be hosting “The Charlie Kirk Show” live from the White House on Monday afternoon.

Kirk, the 31-year-old co-founder of Turning Point USA, was assassinated by a sniper during a speaking event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

Vance announced the guest spot in a post on X on Sunday, which read, “Tomorrow, I will have the honor of hosting the Charlie Kirk Show. Please join me as I pay tribute to my friend.”

The vice president and Second Lady Usha Vance traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, on Thursday to meet with Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, to escort his body back to his home state on Air Force Two.

A while ago, probably in 2017, I appeared on Tucker Carlson's Fox show to talk about God knows what. Afterwards a name I barely knew sent me a DM on twitter and told me I did a great job. It was Charlie Kirk, and that moment of kindness began a friendship that lasted until today.

Charlie was fascinated by ideas and always willing to learn and change his mind. Like me, he was skeptical of Donald Trump in 2016. Like me, he came to see President Trump as the only figure capable of moving American politics away from the globalism that had dominated for our entire lives. When others were right, he learned from them. When he was right--as he usually was--he was generous. With Charlie, the attitude was never, "I told you so." But: "welcome."

Charlie was one of the first people I called when I thought about running for senate in early 2021. I was interested but skeptical there was a pathway. We talked through everything, from the strategy to the fundraising to the grassroots of the movement he knew so well. He introduced me to some of the people who would run my campaign and also to Donald Trump Jr. "Like his dad, he's misunderstood. He's extremely smart, and very much on our wavelength." Don took a call from me because Charlie asked him too.

Long before I ever committed (even in my mind) to running, Charlie had me speak to his donors at a TPUSA event. He walked me around the room and introduced me. He gave me honest feedback on my remarks. He had no reason to do this, no expectation that I'd go anywhere. I was polling, at that point, well below 5 percent. He did it because we were friends, and because he was a good man.

When I became the VP nominee--something Charlie advocated for both in public and private--Charlie was there for me. I was so glad to be part of the president's team, but candidly surprised by the effect it had on our family. Our kids, especially our oldest, struggled with the attention and the constant presence of the protective detail. I felt this acute sense of guilt, that I had conscripted my kids into this life without getting their permission. And Charlie was constantly calling and texting, checking on our family and offering guidance and prayers. Some of our most successful events were organized not by the campaign, but by TPUSA. He wasn't just a thinker, he was a doer, turning big ideas into bigger events with thousands of activists. And after every event, he would give me a big hug, tell me he was praying for me, and ask me what he could do. "You focus on Wisconsin," he'd tell me. "Arizona is in the bag." And it was.

Charlie genuinely believed in and loved Jesus Christ. He had a profound faith. We used to argue about Catholicism and Protestantism and who was right about minor doctrinal questions. Because he loved God, he wanted to understand him.

Someone else pointed out that Charlie died doing what he loved: discussing ideas. He would go into these hostile crowds and answer their questions. If it was a friendly crowd, and a progressive asked a question to jeers from the audience, he'd encourage his fans to calm down and let everyone speak. He exemplified a foundational virtue of our Republic: the willingness to speak openly and debate ideas.

Charlie had an uncanny ability to know when to push the envelope and when to be more conventional. I've seen people attack him for years for being wrong on this or that issue publicly, never realizing that privately he was working to broaden the scope of acceptable debate.

He was a great family man. I was talking to President Trump in the Oval Office today, and he said, "I know he was a very good friend of yours." I nodded silently, and President Trump observed that Charlie really loved his family. The president was right. Charlie was so proud of Erika and the two kids. He was so happy to be a father. And he felt such gratitude for having found a woman of God with whom he could build a family.

Charlie Kirk was a true friend. The kind of guy you could say something to and know it would always stay with him. I am on more than a few group chats with Charlie and people he introduced me to over the years. We celebrate weddings and babies, bust each other's chops, and mourn the loss of loved ones. We talk about politics and policy and sports and life. These group chats include people at the very highest level of our government. They trusted him, loved him, and knew he'd always have their backs. And because he was a true friend ,you could instinctively trust the people Charlie introduced you to. So much of the success we've had in this administration traces directly to Charlie's ability to organize and convene. He didn't just help us win in 2024, he helped us staff the entire government.

I was in a meeting in the West Wing when those group chats started lighting up with people telling Charlie they were praying for him. And that's how I learned the news that my friend had been shot. I prayed a lot over the next hour, as first good news and then bad trickled in.

God didn't answer those prayers, and that's OK. He had other plans. And now that Charlie is in heaven, I'll ask him to talk to big man directly on behalf of his family, his friends, and the country he loved so dearly.

Far-left Rep. Ilhan Omar has insisted that her home country of Somalia were not as bad America is under President Trump.

The Minnesota Congresswoman made the comments during an appearance this weekend on the YouTube channel Democracy Now!, where she complained about the Trump administration’s policy of mass deportations and restoring law and order to cities like Washington D.C. and Chicago.

She explained:

Armed men who are in plainclothes that are snatching people off the streets, unwilling to identify themselves. You have the military being deployed in our streets. My God, this is America. You have states’ rights being disregarded. You know, the constitutional crisis that’s being created in front of our eyes.

And the same week where we have a president who has deployed the military, who are trained to kill our enemies, not Americans, but our enemies, are in our streets. It’s the same week that we are going to have a military parade. Can you imagine that image that is going to be coming out of our country?

I mean, I grew up in a dictatorship. And I don’t even remember ever witnessing anything like that. To have a democracy, a beacon of hope for the world, to now be turned into one of the worst countries where the military are in our streets without any regard for people’s constitutional rights.

While our president is spending millions of dollars prompting himself up like a failed dictator with a military parade. It is really shocking and it should be a wake-up call for all Americans to say this is not the country we were born in, this is not the country we believe in, this is not the country our founding fathers imagined, and this is not the country that is supported by our constitution, our ideals, our values.

We should all collectively be out in the streets rejecting what is taking place this week.

When Omar and her family arrived in the U.S. in 1995, Somalia was already a failed state.

The central government had been overthrown years earlier, leaving the country carved up by rival warlords and militias who terrorized civilians with violence, extortion, and checkpoints.

Law and order had completely disintegrated, and famine and disease had already killed hundreds of thousands.

That same year, the United Nations abandoned its failed peacekeeping mission, pulling out after years of bloodshed and humiliation.

Somalia was left a stateless wasteland where survival depended on clan loyalties and the barrel of a gun.

The country’s situation has not improved much since. It is widely considered the most dangerous country on earth, with the U.S. State Department urging Americans not to travel there under any circumstances.

Governor Kathy Hochul has officially endorsed Zohran Mamdani, the most openly radical socialist in New York politics and a candidate who has repeatedly targeted Jewish New Yorkers and mainstream Americans alike.

That endorsement should raise eyebrows on its own. But it becomes even more disturbing when paired with her track record of reckless, ideologically driven governance.

For years, Hochul has diverted public resources away from academics, safety, and infrastructure to fund instead an unaccountable network of DEI programs—programs that have failed to improve education, wasted taxpayer dollars, and divided communities across the state.

While Mamdani advocates slogans about “decolonizing” New York City, Governor Hochul has quietly invested billions in policies that achieve precisely that goal.

Under her leadership, DEI has gone from an abstract concept to the central framework of state education policy.

Race, gender, and identity are now the primary factors in determining how students are treated, how teachers are hired, and how curricula are developed.

In the 2025 “People’s Budget,” Hochul green lit millions of dollars for race-conscious initiatives with no academic benefit: $8 million for race-based teacher recruitment, $250,000 for ideological classroom programming, and $3 million for a regional DEI museum exhibit in the Adirondacks.

These are not isolated line items. They’re part of a broader shift—one that replaces merit with identity politics.

In many schools, opportunities for scholarships, summer programs, and college prep are now limited to students deemed “underrepresented,” regardless of individual need or achievement.

Teachers are chosen not for their experience or ability to improve student outcomes, but based on demographic quotas.

Lesson plans increasingly prioritize grievance-based frameworks over foundational civic knowledge or critical thinking.

And the results speak for themselves. Less than half of New York State’s students are proficient in reading and math. In New York City, which spends over $40,000 per student—more than any other major city in America—academic performance continues to decline.

Meanwhile, absenteeism is rising, buildings are falling apart, and many classrooms are still using outdated textbooks.

While families across the state ask for safer schools, better facilities, and more academic support, Hochul has made it clear that symbolic politics come first.

Even federal pressure hasn’t been enough to change course. The Trump administration has warned states that race-based DEI initiatives may put federal education funding at risk—up to $2 billion in New York’s case.

But Hochul refuses to scale back, even if it means putting classrooms, teachers, and struggling students on the chopping block.

 Her choice to preserve DEI ideology over basic academic recovery is sabotage.

By endorsing Mamdani, Hochul is doubling down on a governing vision that treats identity as more important than outcomes, slogans as more important than standards, and politics as more important than students.

If that’s the future of New York, then parents, students, and taxpayers alike should be deeply concerned. Hochul didn’t just endorse Mamdani—she paved the way for him.
