Chaos is currently erupting in Minneapolis following the ICE and CBP-involved shooting of a gun-wielding man. 

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Border Patrol fatally shot a man during a struggle this morning after the suspect pulled his gun out. This comes amid tensions following the shooting death of Renee Good after she tried to ram federal agents with her vehicle.

“The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming,” the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.  “Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene.”

Now, the left is rioting, and remnants of the 2020 Black Lives Matter riots are beginning to appear, as rioters have started at least one fire.

Per CNN:

Video shows a dumpster set ablaze in the street as tensions continue near the federal law enforcement shooting scene, CNN affiliate WCCO reports.

State troopers and other law enforcement officers surrounded the fire, which is still burning, while using fire extinguishers to put it out.

Authorities continue to deploy additional crowd-control measures as the situation remains volatile, with streets still crowded and chaotic.

At approximately 11 am ET, Fox News reported on the scene of the shooting in Minneapolis, where federal agents deployed crowd-control measures, including gas, to disperse rioters.

Shortly after 11 am, Fox reported that an armored vehicle was moving through the street as rioters surrounded it, throwing frozen water bottles.

Later, Fox's Garrett Tenney reported that the chaos was "organized," with "well-connected" people communicating with each other and "taking commands." "They got out here in a hurry, and they outnumbered this police force probably by about 10:1 at this point," Tenney said.

Tenney: I'd say it definitely does feel organized to me, and I think you can tell these people are well connected, they are in communication with each other, and they are giving them instructions. This happened all so quickly. People knew where to go, and they are taking commands. This is an organized movement here. There's communication, there's food, there's notices, there's notifications. They got out here in a hurry, and they outnumbered this police force probably by about 10:1 at this point.

The Department of Homeland Security has released a statement with new details about the fatal agent-involved shooting in Minneapolis on Saturday morning.

The suspect was armed and captured on video resisting agents.

The Department of Homeland Security said that the deceased suspect, a 37-year-old man, was violently resisting being disarmed after he approached agents during a targeted operation to arrest an illegal alien wanted for violent assault.

The statement, obtained by Bill Melugin of Fox News, read in full:

“At 9:05 AM CT, as DHS law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault, an individual approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, seen here.

The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. More details on the armed struggle are forthcoming.

Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect also had 2 magazines and no ID—this looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement.

About 200 rioters arrived at the scene and began to obstruct and assault law enforcement on the scene, crowd control measures were deployed for the safety of the public and law enforcement.

This situation is evolving, and more information is forthcoming.”

The Border Patrol Union also issued a statement in defense of the agents involved.

In a post on X, the union wrote:

Border Patrol agents are trained extremely well to protect themselves, their fellow agents, and innocent third parties. When a supposed “peaceful” protester brings a weapon (such as a loaded handgun) and brandishes it, there are going to severe consequences and repercussions. We have pleaded with and warned the media and the politicians that their irresponsible, hate-filled and false rhetoric is going to get people unnecessarily hurt, or worse, killed when they portray our agents and officers as the aggressors. They have encouraged these reckless confrontations and attacks on our agents and officers who are performing their lawful duties and enforcing the laws that Congress has put on the books. The fake and dishonest media and the shameless politicians should be held accountable for willfully misleading the public and enticing these protesters and agitators. We have full confidence that when more facts are revealed, our agents and officers will be shown to have utilized justifiable force in eliminating the threat.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents have been authorized to forcibly enter homes without a judge’s warrant under a May 2025 ICE memo obtained by the Associated Press. The memo permits entry based on administrative warrants issued by immigration officials rather than judges. Critics argue this conflicts with Fourth Amendment protections and overturns guidance given to immigrant communities for decades.

The memo directs ICE officers to use Form I-205 (Warrant of Removal/Deportation) to forcibly enter private residences to arrest individuals with final removal orders. Officers must knock, identify themselves, state their purpose, and give occupants a reasonable opportunity to comply voluntarily. Entries are limited to between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., and officers are instructed to use only necessary and reasonable force if entry is refused.

The memo relies on a legal determination by the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of General Counsel, which concluded that nothing in the Constitution, the Immigration and Nationality Act, or federal regulations explicitly prohibits the use of administrative warrants for residential entry in these circumstances.

This reverses prior DHS guidance, including a 2021 ICE document stating that administrative warrants do not authorize forced home entry without consent or exigent circumstances.

The administration argues its interpretation is legally sound because judicial review already occurred during removal proceedings. ICE and DHS maintain that administrative warrants provide sufficient probable cause for arrest since targeted individuals have already received due process leading to final removal orders. They argue DHS previously interpreted the Fourth Amendment too restrictively.

The administration contends the Fourth Amendment does not bar this practice in the immigration context, citing Supreme Court precedent and congressional recognition of administrative warrants for certain enforcement actions. Although no statutes changed, the administration’s legal interpretation shifted from viewing administrative warrants as insufficient for forced entry to sufficient when executing final removal orders.

A change in interpretation does not make it unconstitutional. The Supreme Court has overturned its own constitutional precedents 145 times since 1789, demonstrating that constitutional interpretation can change without altering the Constitution itself.

Courts regularly reconsider how constitutional provisions apply. In immigration enforcement, the Supreme Court in Afroyim v. Rusk (1967) reversed Perez v. Brownell (1958), altering its interpretation of when American citizenship could be revoked. The Constitution did not change between those rulings, but the Court’s understanding of it did.

This interpretation has drawn criticism for potentially violating the Fourth Amendment, which historically requires warrants issued by neutral magistrates for home entries absent emergencies. Legal critics argue the policy conflates administrative warrants, which lack independent judicial approval, with search warrants, contradicting longstanding precedent emphasizing the sanctity of the home.

Courts have recognized limited exceptions to the Fourth Amendment warrant requirement in immigration contexts. In INS v. Delgado (1984), the Supreme Court allowed immigration officers to enter factory buildings with a warrant or employer consent, treating workplaces as public spaces. Courts have also upheld warrantless enforcement in exigent circumstances such as immediate threats to safety, imminent destruction of evidence, or hot pursuit.

In United States v. Martinez-Fuerte (1976), the Supreme Court upheld brief questioning at fixed immigration checkpoints without individualized suspicion. However, lower courts have consistently ruled that ICE violates the Fourth Amendment when agents forcibly enter homes without a judicial warrant and without recognized exceptions. A 2024 federal court ruling in California banned ICE from using similar tactics, deeming them unconstitutional.

Critics warn of risks including erroneous raids on U.S. citizens’ homes, traumatic encounters, and escalations leading to violence. However, these concerns exist with immigration enforcement generally, regardless of warrant type. Whether ICE uses administrative warrants or obtains judicial warrants, both rely on the same ICE databases and records.

A judge reviewing a warrant application would have no independent way to verify citizenship status or investigate the accuracy of ICE’s evidence, and as long as ICE presents sufficient evidence to meet the probable cause standard, the judge would issue the warrant. This is essentially the same determination ICE makes when issuing an administrative warrant.

The distinction critics emphasize is not about the accuracy of information, but about the constitutional principle of having a neutral third-party review evidence before authorizing home entry. The theory is that judicial oversight provides an independent check on executive power, with judges potentially questioning whether the evidence is sufficient, requiring additional documentation, or refusing to issue warrants that seem questionable. Critics also point to documented incidents of wrong-address raids and citizen detentions that have occurred even under judicial oversight in other law enforcement contexts.

The administration’s position that administrative warrants tied to final removal orders constitute a sufficient exception has not yet been tested or upheld by the Supreme Court. The fact that prior administrations interpreted the same constitutional language differently does not establish that the current interpretation is unconstitutional. Courts will ultimately determine which interpretation prevails based on constitutional text, precedent, and legal reasoning.

President Trump on Saturday threatened new 100% tariffs on Canada if it makes a trade deal with China, as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney seeks to dismantle US influence over Canada and European countries and usher in a stronger relationship with China. 

“If Governor Carney thinks he is going to make Canada a ‘Drop Off Port’ for China to send goods and products into the United States, he is sorely mistaken,” Trump declared. “China will eat Canada alive, completely devour it, including the destruction of their businesses, social fabric, and general way of life.”

This comes after Carney’s speech at the World Economic Forum, where he called for an end to the old “rules-based order” of United States supremacy, declaring the US a “hegeimon” that has been “using economic integration as weapons, tariffs as leverage, financial infrastructure as coercion, supply chains as vulnerabilities to be exploited.”

Meanwhile, he is currently “recalibrating” Canada’s relationship with China to establish a “new world order,” which excludes US dominance. This includes increased trade and investments between Canada and China to counter US influence over Canada.

In a speech to the global elite at Switzerland’s Davos resort town this week, Carney warned attendees that the “rules-based order” established by the United States and its allies in the wake of the Second World War is fraying amid the reemergence of great power conflict–principally the rivalry between China and America.

“Every day we’re reminded that we live in an era of great-power rivalry,” Carney said. “That the rules-based order is fading. That the strong can do what they can, and the weak must suffer what they must.”

But, he called on Canada and its European allies to band together to preserve that order, in the face of challenges from the U.S. He warned, “The middle powers must act together because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.”

Carney’s remarks came on the heels of his trip to China last week when the prime minister negotiated a new “strategic partnership” with the Communist regime in Beijing, promising to expand trade and mutual investment.

Trump responded to the report on Saturday, slamming Carney’s reckless plans to betray its neighboring ally.

Trump declared, “If Canada makes a deal with China, it will immediately be hit with a 100% Tariff against all Canadian goods and products coming into the U.S.A.”

” I watched your Prime Minister yesterday. He wasn’t so grateful. They should be grateful to us,” Trump said, noting that Canada “gets a lot of freebies from us.”
