After I filed a Petition for Writ of Mandate against the California Secretary of State, demanding that Eric Swalwell be removed from the California governor’s race, Swalwell attacked me on Twitter, calling me a “MAGA idiot”.

In my petition, I contended that because the California Constitution requires a candidate for governor to live in the state for 5 years prior to an election, that Swalwell does not qualify.

I cited the fact that Swalwell declared his Washington D.C. home as his principal residence on his Deed of Trust, while not having any address in California.

In fact, Swalwell used his attorney’s address on his personal candidate statement Form 501 when filing to run for governor in California, under penalty of perjury, stating that was his home address. Its all on my website: SwalwellIsDisqualified.com.

All Swalwell had to do on Twitter was say “Hey Joel, you are wrong, here’s my California home address”. But he didn’t have one, so he stooped to name calling.

Swalwell’s childish behavior inspired me to have a look at his college years, starting with his attendance at Campbell University, a private Christian, liberal arts university in Buies Creek, North Carolina for two years after graduating high school from 1999 to 2001.

Swalwell was a Government and History student and wrote for the student newspaper “The Campbell Times”.

Low and behold I discovered that Swalwell also contributed a disturbing violent sex poem to the annual literary magazine “The Lyricist”.

In the 2001 edition of “The Lyricist”, Eric Swalwell wrote a drunken violent erotic sex poem entitled “Hungover From Burgundy”.

The Contributor’s Notes page describes Eric Swalwell as “an active member off the Campbell University student body, a write for the Campbell Times, and is completing his third screenplay”.

I believe “Hungover From Burgundy” reveals Swalwell has a troubling a view of women that is dehumanizing, and involves drunkenness as a tool for sex. Swalwell confuses intimacy with physical harm.

In the poem, kissing escalates into grotesque imagery of exploding veins and blood running down chins. For Swalwell, physical harm becomes intimacy.

It’s disturbing is how Swalwell eroticizes violence in his poem. Swalwell says, “My anxious arm she bit— my scar is beautiful.” Swalwell transforms the injury into a sick proof of desire.

Swalwell, meanwhile, dwells on his own discomfort – cracked lips, a vanished scar. For Swalwell, women are desirable only when unreal, exaggerated, or destructive. When they return to ordinary human form, they lose value.

This reflects a deeper attitude in Swalwell in which women are denied humanity, used instead as symbols for male experience.

Hungover From Burgundy” is unsettling not because it is graphic, but because it shows that Eric Swalwell’s view of women is deeply sick at its core.

He also needs alcohol to take advantage of a woman. The chaos of his life makes more sense now. Swalwell’s 2011 divorce and alleged affair of Chinese “honey trap” spy Fang Fang can now be better understood.

This poem is further evidence that Eric Swalwell is psychologically unfit to serve as California governor and should resign from Congress now.

While the radical left continues to push for open borders and “sanctuary” rhetoric, the consequences of their lawlessness are landing on the doorsteps of hardworking Americans in quiet, suburban neighborhoods.

A quiet neighborhood in Greenville was shattered in the early morning hours on Wednesday after two illegal aliens allegedly broke into a man’s home, tied him up, beat him with a weapon, and sexually assaulted him in what authorities are calling a targeted attack.

According to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office, 21-year-old Zaid Mayen and 20-year-old Jonathan David Garcia Larios have been arrested and charged in connection with the brutal home invasion.

Arrest warrants list the following charges:

• First-degree sexual offense
• First-degree kidnapping
• Assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury
• First-degree burglary

Authorities say the suspects forcibly entered the home at 200 Louis Street with the intent to assault the victim.

According to the Reflector, the warrants state the men injured the victim with an edged weapon, restrained him against his will, and moved him from one place to another in order to inflict serious bodily injury and commit a forcible sex offense.

The victim, identified in the warrant as a male resident of the home, was transported by EMS to ECU Health Medical Center with injuries. Officials have not released further information regarding his medical status.

Sgt. Lee Darnell of the sheriff’s office described the case as “complex and evolving,” emphasizing that it was a targeted crime and not random.

Catholic Bishop Robert Barron did not hold back in a blistering new video statement released on X, dismantling the radical ideology pushing the Democrat party further into the arms of Marxism.

Bishop Barron, known for his intellectual defense of the faith, took aim directly at “Squad” member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), exposing how her recent comments reveal a terrifying adherence to the “Marxist playbook” that threatens the very foundations of American freedom.

The Bishop’s comments came in response to a dust-up between Senator Marco Rubio and the far-left Congresswoman.

Barron’s response came after Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered a speech at the Munich Security Conference defending the shared cultural heritage of Western civilization.

In his remarks, Rubio pointed to the deep historical and religious roots that unite Europe and America and emphasized that Western democratic institutions are grounded in a civilizational tradition heavily shaped by Christianity.

But when Ocasio-Cortez responded by dismissing the idea of Western cultural unity as “thin” and instead argued that politics should focus on “material” concerns rooted in class-based interests, Barron said the framework she employed was unmistakable.

“A recent statement by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez illuminates the Marxist ideology which continues to take hold of American politicians,” Bishop wrote on X.

In his video, Barron explained that AOC’s dismissal of culture isn’t just a difference of opinion, it is a classic Marxist tactic to deconstruct society.

Barron went on to explain that Marxists view culture merely as a distraction, a “superstructure” designed to protect economic power. By attacking the culture, the radical Left seeks to destabilize the very things that make America free.

Bishop Robert Barron: “Just last week, Marco Rubio gave a talk that I thought was really good in Munich. He was talking about the shared culture of Europe and America. He referenced Gothic cathedrals, Dante, Shakespeare, and even The Beatles. His point was that we’ve got to get beyond just our political differences and find our sources in the great culture that unites us.

Then he took a further step that was very much in line with Pope Benedict XVI and Christopher Dawson—namely, that culture is grounded in cult. At the root of all culture is something like religion. And so he wasn’t afraid to reference the Christian faith as a key element in giving rise to the shared culture of Europe and America.

So, a really good speech, I thought.

Well then, just—I think it was yesterday—I saw Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez answering him, and I was very struck by her answer. I thought it was very illuminating. She said, “Oh, this appeal to culture is so thin because culture is ephemeral. It’s always changing. We shouldn’t pay attention to culture; we should pay attention to the material foundations in the class struggle.”

Well, all of that, everybody, is right out of the Marxist playbook.

First of all, that Western culture, as Rubio invoked it, is thin—the culture that gave us all those great figures, that gave us the rule of law, that gave us respect for the rights of the individual, that gave us our democratic political system, that gave us the university system—that’s thin?

And your argument is, well, because culture has always changed. Well, that’s a banality. I mean, of course cultures are alive; they change and evolve. It doesn’t mean for a second we can’t identify the key elements within a culture that give it its character.

But also this: to characterize culture as thin is a Marxist move. Marx said that culture is simply an epiphenomenal superstructure on top of the economic substructure. And are we distracted, therefore, by the culture? That’s just protecting the economics at bottom.

Well, again, listen to her: “Let’s pay attention to the material conditions and to class struggle.” Again, that’s the Marxist playbook.

What’s worrying me, everybody, is the extent to which political leadership on the left in America is becoming unapologetically Marxist. The mayor of New York City—the warmth of collectivism—he’s calling for the confiscation of private property, for seizing the means of production. All language right out of The Communist Manifesto.

Might I encourage followers of Mamdani and AOC—talk to some of them; they’re still alive—some of the people that fled Marxist tyranny in Europe, people laboring under it to this day in Cuba, North Korea, Venezuela, etc.

And then this, too: it concerns me not just as someone who follows politics, but as a bishop of the Catholic Church. Marx himself said, “The first critique is a critique of religion,” and his political adepts followed him. The first thing that the Marxist tyrannies went after, in most cases, was religion.

I’m getting a little concerned that, in some of these leading figures in our own politics, a Marxist philosophy is taking hold. As a religious leader, this is concerning me quite a bit.

Take a look, everybody. Attend to the language. In a way, they’re telling us who they are and what they’re for.

I think that should be very concerning to everybody.

A petition to ban hunting and ranching in Oregon is nearing the number of signatures needed to be placed on this fall’s ballot.

David Michelson, the organizer of Initiative Petition 28, said supporters have gathered about 105,000 of the 117,713 verified signatures needed by July 2, according to Fox affiliate KPTV.

“If it makes it on the ballot and is approved by voters in November, the protections that currently apply to pets such as dogs and cats would extend to wild animals, livestock, and animals used in research,” the outlet reported. “Supporters call the proposal the PEACE Act, short for People for the Elimination of Animal Cruelty Exemptions. Supporters say the measure is intended to protect animals from abuse, neglect, and killing.”

The proposed law reportedly has exceptions for veterinarians and for those who kill animals in self-defense.

Michelson told the NBC affiliate KOIN-TV, “We really want to make Oregon the first state to vote on something like this.”

“We are aware that it’s unlikely 50 percent of Oregonians are ready right now to move away from killing animals,” he added. “But we want to get that conversation out there. So that we can hopefully move in that direction.”

Amy Patrick with the Oregon Hunters Association told KPTV, “I’m hopeful that Oregonians will not vote ‘yes’ on this. I’m hopeful that whether you’re in an urban region or a rural region, you understand what makes Oregon great.”

“And part of that is our wildlife. And part of that is our economy that comes from our farming and ranching,” she continued. “And that folks will really, really delve into what this [proposal] does and how this is going to affect us not just in the abstract. So if you’re not a hunter or you’re not a rancher or a farmer, don’t think that this is not going to affect you in your day-to-day life.”

An Oregon State University report issued in February 2025 stated that cattle ranching makes up a significant portion of the state’s economy, contributing over $900 million annually.

“Approximately 15 million acres of rangeland and pastureland are used for grazing cattle in Oregon. Most of the state’s estimated 11,000 cattle ranches are in Southern and Eastern Oregon,” OSU said.

Oregon Hunters Association Hoodview Chapter President Levi Barrera told KOIN, “If you take away hunting, there will be an out-of-control effect on the [animal] population.”

He argued that it makes no sense to curtail people’s ability to provide food for themselves, especially when grocery store prices remain high.

“Even bigger towns that rely on the agricultural side of things, not just the economy and fishing side of things,” Barrera explained.

He added, “It has great impacts through communities that rely on hunting and fishing and that really sustains their communities and their families throughout the year. The industries that rely on hunting and fishing, you know, coastal towns, rely heavily on the fishing and salmon fishing.”

Michelson countered that the PEACE Act will include a transition fund with financial assistance for those who currently rely on hunting to feed themselves and their families.

Regarding the animal overpopulation problem, Michelson said the legislation “specifically requires non-lethal forms of wildlife management. That could be the introduction of sterile males into a population.”

U.S. consumers are currently paying high prices for beef, particularly at the grocery store.

The Trump administration issued a fact sheet earlier this month regarding its efforts to lower beef prices in the United States.

“The U.S. cattle herd has fallen to a record low of 86.2 million head as of January 2026, with beef cow inventory down by 8.6 percent since 2020,” the White House said.

“As a result, ground beef prices reached an average of $6.69 per pound in December 2025, the highest since tracking began in the 1980s,” the fact sheet continued.

President Donald Trump’s team added, “The United States is the world’s largest consumer of beef by volume and ranks second globally in per capita beef consumption, underscoring beef’s importance to the American diet.”

To address the price problem, Trump signed an order allowing an additional 80,000 tons of beef to be imported from Argentina into the United States, tariff-free.
