New government data out of Germany is fueling fierce debate, as figures reveal that the country’s most popular opposition party—the right-wing anti-globalist Alternative for Germany (AfD)—has become the primary target of political violence, raising serious questions about the state of democracy in Europe’s largest economy.

According to official statistics, reported on by several German outlets, nearly two-thirds of all violent attacks against politicians in 2025 were directed at members of Alternative for Germany (AfD), a party that has surged in popularity in recent months.

The numbers are stark. Out of 183 recorded violent attacks against political figures, 121 targeted AfD representatives—more than all other major parties combined.

The figures, for or supporters of the party, confirm what they have long argued: that Germany’s political establishment and media have created a climate of hostility that has now spilled over into physical violence.

AfD MP Martin Hess pulled no punches in his response to the data.

“Those who constantly defame, delegitimize and dehumanize the AfD and its supporters shouldn’t be surprised when enemies of democracy see in this a call to violence,” he said.

The sheer scale and consistency of the attacks leads critics point to something deeper than isolated incidents. The violence is not evenly distributed across the political spectrum.

Government data indicates that roughly 60 percent of violent politically motivated crimes were attributed to left-wing extremist suspects, compared to just 11 percent linked to right-wing perpetrators.

The imbalance directly contradicts the dominant narrative often promoted in mainstream political discourse.
And violence goes beyond physical attacks.

AfD members were also the most frequent targets of so-called “speech offenses,” including threats, defamation, and harassment, accounting for over a third of such cases nationwide.

In total, more than 1,800 politically motivated crimes were recorded against AfD figures in 2025 alone. Party infrastructure has also been under sustained pressure.

AfD offices were targeted in 239 separate incidents, ranging from vandalism to arson, placing them among the most attacked political facilities in the country.
Even Germany’s ruling, globalist establishment parties have not been immune.

The CDU/CSU bloc saw a sharp increase in attacks on its own facilities, particularly after cooperating with AfD votes on a parliamentary migration proposal earlier in the year.

In one week alone, 30 attacks were recorded against CDU buildings following that vote, highlighting the intensity of political tensions surrounding immigration policy.

Despite this, the pattern remains clear: the party that challenges the political status quo—with that clearly being the AfD—bears the brunt of the backlash.
The AfD’s platform—centered on stricter immigration controls, national sovereignty, and opposition to EU policies—has made it a lightning rod in Germany’s increasingly polarized political landscape.

At the same time, the party’s rising popularity has only heightened tensions.

Recent polling has placed the AfD well ahead of traditional liberal CDU, marking a significant shift in German politics.
The AfD has surged to a record 29%—matching the SPD, FDP, and Greens combined—marking a sudden collapse of Germany’s political establishment as voters across Europe reject what elites call extremism and instead see it as failed governance.

For critics of the current system, of which there is an ever-increasing number, the surge reflects growing dissatisfaction with mainstream parties, particularly on issues such as migration and economic policy.

But that shift has also triggered fierce resistance from an entrenched system unwilling to relinquish power.

Large-scale protests, media campaigns, and political isolation efforts have been directed at the party, with opponents frequently labeling it as beyond the democratic mainstream.

AfD figures argue that such rhetoric has consequences. They claim that constant public vilification creates an environment in which violence becomes normalized—or at least excused.

“This development is the result of years of political and media disinhibition,” Hess said, pointing to what he sees as a broader breakdown in civil discourse.
The broader question now facing Germany is whether political competition can remain peaceful in such a climate.

For a country that prides itself on democratic stability, the rise in politically motivated violence presents a serious challenge.
It also raises concerns about the ability of opposition movements to operate freely without intimidation.

While the government insists there is no organized campaign behind the attacks, others argue that the data tells a different story.
They point to the concentration of incidents, the ideological imbalance among perpetrators, and the sustained targeting of a single political force.
The issue goes beyond party politics.

It touches on the fundamental principles of democratic engagement: the right to participate, to campaign, and to express political views without fear of violence.

As Germany moves toward its next electoral cycle, these concerns are almost cetrain to intensify.

The combination of rising political polarization, shifting voter preferences, rising political violence, and a general escalation of tensions on the ground, in the media, and in the parliament, suggests a volatile period ahead.

Beijing is heralding its new Type 054B guided-missile frigate as a generational leap that brings the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy closer to parity with the United States. The evidence does not support that claim.

The 054B is a genuine and incremental improvement over its predecessor, relevant within China’s near-seas operational envelope, but it does little to close the overall naval gap with the United States and does not alter the strategic balance. Global Firepower ranks the United States first among 145 nations in overall military power for 2026, a position it has held since the index began in 2005.

Development of the 054B began around 2016 as an evolutionary upgrade to the Type 054A. Hull modules were first spotted at builder Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai around December 2022. The lead hull was launched in August 2023 and began sea trials in January 2024. The first ship, Luohe (hull 545), was commissioned January 22, 2025 at Qingdao and assigned to the North Sea Fleet. The second ship, Qinzhou (hull 555), built at Huangpu Wenchong Shipyard in Guangzhou, was commissioned in May 2025 and assigned to the South Sea Fleet.

Luohe reached operational capability in January 2026, one year after commissioning. As of April 2026, satellite imagery from March 21 shows both a third and fourth hull at an advanced stage of assembly at Hudong.

The 054B is physically larger than its predecessor, approximately 15 meters longer at around 150 meters overall length, with a beam of approximately 17 meters and a displacement estimated between 5,500 and 6,000 tons. Its armament includes a 32-cell vertical launch system, a new 100mm main gun, dual AESA radars, and aviation facilities for the Z-20 anti-submarine helicopter, replacing the older and lighter Z-9.

Chinese state media describe an AI-assisted architecture designed to reduce blind spots in air defense, integrated sensor and antenna systems to lower radar cross-section, and improved combat command systems. Independent analysts at Janes confirm enhanced ASW sensors, a reduced-signature hull profile, and upgraded command architecture. These are real improvements. The question is what they actually change.

A frigate with better acoustic sensors and a stronger command system becomes a more capable escort for task forces, and the 054B does improve the quality of the PLAN’s screen around carrier groups and amphibious forces. That matters tactically in a South China Sea or Taiwan contingency, where the 054B would operate as the final line of defense within a layered formation alongside Type 055 destroyers and Type 052D multirole destroyers. Within that near-seas envelope, the 054B makes PLAN task forces marginally harder to attrit. That is the accurate and limited scope of its significance.

The Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) claims that the 054B extends China’s reach into the Western Pacific are completely false. Operational reach is a function of basing infrastructure, replenishment-at-sea capability, and allied port access, not of how capable a frigate is relative to the adversary’s.

China has only one acknowledged overseas military logistics facility, in Djibouti in the Indian Ocean, and potential dual-use access at Ream Naval Base in Cambodia. It has no overseas naval bases in the Western Pacific. Its forward presence in that theater consists of artificial island installations at Fiery Cross Reef, Mischief Reef, and Subi Reef in the South China Sea, which lack the repair infrastructure of established naval bases and sit well within range of US and allied strike assets.

A 054B with improved fuel efficiency still has to return to a Chinese home port when it needs repairs, resupply, or crew rotation. The limiting factor on PLAN reach was never the fuel tank; it is the absence of basing infrastructure, which no frigate improvement resolves.

The United States, by contrast, operates from Yokosuka, Guam, Pearl Harbor, and a network of allied port access across Japan, South Korea, Australia, and the Philippines. This basing network is combined with the Burke-class DDG-51 destroyer fleet, armed with Aegis Baseline 10 and SPY-6 radar. The destroyers carry 96-cell VLS systems, compared to the Type 054B’s 32.

The U.S. also fields Virginia-class submarines that are quieter, deeper-diving, and more lethal than anything currently operated by the PLAN. Additional advantages include P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft, carrier air wings, and allied interoperability across the Indo-Pacific.Together, these capabilities constitute a set of counters that the Type 054B does not meaningfully degrade.

Global Firepower places the US Navy at 7.168 million tonnes of aggregate fleet displacement, far ahead of the PLAN. Better sensors and AI-assisted air defense on a Chinese frigate do not make Virginia-class submarines easier to find, do not reduce P-8 coverage, and do not alter Aegis performance. US doctrine under Distributed Maritime Operations deliberately distributes combat power across multiple hull classes and platform types, so the absence of a US frigate in the current inventory does not create a vulnerability the 054B exploits.

At present, the PLA Navy has a larger number of vessels than the U.S. Navy, but the U.S. remains the most powerful navy ever to exist. China has demonstrated an ability to produce ships quickly, and the CCP is constantly upgrading ship capabilities. That is a fleet-architecture development worth monitoring.

It does not, however, constitute parity with or a challenge to U.S. maritime superiority, which rests on a global basing network, submarine dominance, carrier aviation, and decades of blue-water operational experience that no single frigate class can close.

Maureen Galindo, who was chosen by Texas Democrats, terrifyingly with about 29% of the vote, to advance to the party’s primary runoff for the state’s newly redrawn 35th Congressional District, is under fire for inflammatory remarks that include a pledge to send ‘American Zionists’ to ‘internment camps.’

In an Instagram post last week, Galindo wrote, “When Maureen gets into Congress, she’ll write legislation so that all Zionism and support of Zionism is undoubtedly Anti-Semitic, since it’s Zionists harming the Semites.”

“She’ll turn Karnes ICE Detention Center into a prison for American Zionists and former ICE officials for human trafficking.”

“(It will also be a castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists).”

Fox News reporter Bill Melugin notes, “Maureen Galindo, a Democrat running for Congress in TX-35, says in an Instagram post that she would turn an ICE detention center near San Antonio ‘into a prison for American Zionists’, and will also use it as a castration processing center for pedophiles, ‘which will probably be most of the Zionists.’”

“Yes, it’s real, and yes the post is still up. She has a runoff election next week.”

“In other posts on her Instagram, Galindo claims that her runoff opponent, Johnny Garcia, was part of a human trafficking conspiracy orchestrated by ‘billionaire Zionist Jews.’”

Galindo’s social media is replete with anti-Zionist rhetoric, including claims of a ‘cabal of Jewish zionists’ controlling Hollywood, the media, and politicians.

In comments to the San Antonio Current, Galindo claims she only has an issue with “zionists or those advocating for the existence of a Jewish state in their ancestral homeland, rather than Jews in general.

Per the Current:

“I think it’s actually the zionists who are putting Jewish people at the most risk,” Galindo told the Current last week.

The San Antonio Jewish Federation (JFSA) doesn’t see it that way.

“The JFSA strongly condemns the spread of antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories in public discourse,” the group said in a statement responding to Galindo’s remarks. “Divisive and hateful rhetoric targeting the Jewish community has no place in our civic life.”

Even some Democrats are distancing themselves from Galindo’s ugly and dangerous rhetoric.

Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries of New York and Rep. Suzan DelBene of Washington, who heads the House Democrats’ campaign arm, criticized Galindo.

“This vile language by her is disqualifying and has no place in American politics, and certainly not in the Democratic Party,” the two Democrats said in a statement released Tuesday night.

Armed gunmen launched coordinated attacks on multiple schools in the Ahoro-Esinele community of Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, southwestern Nigeria, on the night of May 16, 2026, abducting 46 people, including seven teachers and 39 students, from Community High School in Ahoro-Esinele and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in the nearby Yawota community. The Christian Association of Nigeria in Oyo State confirmed the figure, noting it included children as young as two years old.

One of the abducted teachers, Michael Oyedokun, a mathematics instructor at Community High School, was killed in captivity. A video released on Sunday, May 17, showed him being beheaded. Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde confirmed the killing Monday.

The school’s principal, Mrs. Rachael Folawe Alamu, was among those taken, transported from the scene in her own vehicle before the attackers escaped into a forest reserve. From captivity, she recorded a video message that spread widely on Nigerian social media. She stated the attack began around 9:30 p.m. on Friday and that staff and students had remained in the kidnappers’ hands since.

“I am making this video to ask for help from everyone,” she said, appealing to the federal government, the Oyo State government, the Christian Association of Nigeria, and “all well-meaning Nigerians” to intervene peacefully “so that our lives will not be lost.” Her identity was confirmed by the Oyo State Police Command as Mrs. Rachael Alamu Folawe. She remained in captivity as of the latest available reporting.

The attackers, identified locally as members of the MetroBandits, fled into a forest reserve bordering the community. The name itself reflects a pattern documented across Nigeria, where terms like “bandits” and “unknown gunmen” are routinely applied to groups that analysts say are Islamic terrorists. The progression through those labels, and now, in some cases, quietly to “terrorists,” reflects a sustained struggle over accountability and international perception, with Nigerian agencies consistently resisting the more accurate designations.

The stakes extend beyond terminology. Under U.S. law, terrorism designations govern eligibility for military assistance, intelligence cooperation, counterterrorism funding, and sanctions. Nigeria’s federal government formally designated bandit groups as terrorists in 2022, but the official gazette framing addressed only kidnapping, cattle rustling, and property destruction, stopping short of any acknowledgment of ideological or religious motivation. President Tinubu’s recent vow to defeat “terrorism and banditry” continues that dual framing.

Christian leaders have rejected it. The Christian Association of Nigeria president, Reverend Samson Ayokunle, stated publicly that Nigeria was under siege by groups operating “with a goal to Islamize Nigeria.” The Archbishop of Abuja, Ignatius Kaigama, similarly named “Boko Haram insurgents, herdsmen militia, bandits, and the so-called unknown gunmen” as a unified threat continuing to terrorize the country.

Field testimony has repeatedly challenged the criminal framing. In attacks across Plateau and Benue states, authorities used the bandit designation while eyewitnesses told International Christian Concern the perpetrators were Muslim Fulani militia shouting “Allahu Akbar” before opening fire. One central Nigeria survivor described captives being executed after religious sermons.

“They lined people up and shot them in the head. They preached Islam first,” he said. “We buried 178 bodies in two days.” No ransom was demanded and no cattle taken, a pattern analysts say cannot be reconciled with the bandit label.

Emeka Umeagbalasi of Intersociety attributes at least 60 percent of attacks on Nigerian Christians to extremist Fulani herdsmen or jihadist Fulani fighters, noting that targeted communities are Christian while neighboring Muslim villages are left untouched, and that fewer than one percent of perpetrators are ever arrested.

Patricia Streeter, co-founder of the Anglican Persecuted Church Network, said the evidence is conclusive: “The kidnappings of worshippers during church services make it undeniable this is faith-targeted persecution. It’s also not the result of climate change or banditry, as the mainstream media has said over the years.”

The full list of abducted teachers, published by Sahara Reporters, includes Vice Principal Ojo Jonathan, Olatunde Zacchaeus, John Olaleye, Michael Oyedokun, Mrs. Oladeji, and Mary Akanbi of Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School.

A joint rescue operation involving Nigerian soldiers, police, and local vigilantes was disrupted after operatives encountered improvised explosive devices planted by the attackers, wounding several personnel. Six suspects have been arrested, including alleged informants and individuals accused of supplying logistics to the kidnappers. President Bola Tinubu condemned the killing as “barbaric” and said federal authorities were coordinating with state officials and deploying tactical intelligence teams.

A reporter from Objectiv Media described the attackers’ deliberate use of civilians as human shields to slow military operations. “As they permeate into these townships, they take civilians and use them as shields,” the reporter said, explaining that the groups threaten to kill captives if security forces advance. He said the tactic is reinforced through what he called “media sleeper cells,” networks that spread graphic footage to generate fear and cause military commanders to hesitate.

“It is understood that they are doing that to make the military feel weak,” he said. “So the military will be hesitant to approach them further, even though they know the military has closed in on them.”

The family of Michael Oyedokun has asked Nigerians to stop circulating graphic videos of his death, saying the repeated reposting is traumatizing his children, who are currently sitting their exams, as well as elderly relatives and other family members. They asked that only official family photographs be used, or that graphic footage be blurred if shared.

The Oyo State attack is geographically significant. Mass school abductions have historically been concentrated in northern Nigeria, and incidents of this scale are rare in the southwest.

A separate, contemporaneous attack in Borno State saw suspected ISWAP fighters abduct approximately 42 children in Mussa village, Askira-Uba Local Government Area. The separate incident may have contributed to early confusion over casualty figures from Oyo State.

Former Democrat Rep. Barney Frank has passed away.

He was 86 years old.

Last month it was reported that Barney Frank was in hospice care at his home in Maine, where he resided with his husband.

Frank was suffering from congestive heart failure.

The Massachusetts Democrat died on Tuesday night, according to his friend Jim Segel.

The AP reported:

Barney Frank, the longtime Democratic congressman and leading liberal who brought new visibility to gay rights and crafted the most significant reforms to the financial system in a generation, has died. He was 86.

Frank died late Tuesday, according to Jim Segel, Frank’s former campaign manager and close friend.

Earlier this month, a frail looking Frank spoke with Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday and warned his party about drifting too far left.

Barney Frank was one of the Democrat Reps who authored the Dodd-Frank bill, which was put in place after the 2008 bank crash.

The government arguably caused the failure and then turned around and put in a massive amount of regulations in response to the failure.

The Dodd-Frank bill put enormous strain on smaller banks, and eventually, some of the regulations were rolled back.

Ironically, Barney Frank sat on the board of Signature Bank, a New York-based commercial bank that collapsed in 2023 after depositors withdrew money in a panic amid a string of bank failures.
