A twice-paroled transgender serial killer with a six-decade history of murdering women has been convicted yet again, this time for the savage 2022 beating death and dismemberment of 68-year-old Susan Leyden, whose headless torso was found stuffed in a shopping cart near his East New York apartment.

Harvey Marcelin, 87, who has also gone by “Marceline Harvey,” was found guilty by a Brooklyn Supreme Court jury last week of first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, and concealment of a human corpse.

On February 27, 2022, surveillance video captured Leyden entering Marcelin’s apartment on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York and never leaving alive.

Days later, on March 3, her headless torso was discovered inside a plastic bag in a wheeled shopping cart just blocks from the apartment.

Additional body parts, including her head, thighs, hand, arm, and one leg, were recovered from black garbage bags inside Marcelin’s unit, along with bloody sheets, cleaning supplies, a hammer, and an electric saw.

Investigators also recovered video showing Marcelin purchasing the saw and cleaning materials at a Home Depot around the time Leyden disappeared.

He was even caught on dollar-store surveillance driving a motorized scooter while sitting on one of the victim’s severed legs as he disposed of evidence.

Marcelin and Leyden had previously lived in the same Bronx homeless shelter in 2019, but the nature of their relationship at the time of the murder remains unclear.

The jury deliberated for less than one hour before delivering the verdict following a two-week trial.

This conviction marks Marcelin’s third murder of a woman in 63 years.

In 1963, the transgender lunatic was convicted of first-degree murder for fatally shooting his girlfriend, Jacqueline Bonds, in Manhattan. He was paroled in 1984.

One year later, in 1985, Marcelin stabbed his girlfriend, Ana-Laura Sierra, to death. Her body was found in a garbage bag.

He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was paroled again in 2019, just three years before killing Leyden while still under parole supervision.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez issued a statement after the verdict, saying:

“This conviction holds the defendant accountable for the cruel and reprehensible murder of Susan Leyden. Following the senseless murder, the defendant desecrated the victim’s remains in a manner that truly shocks the conscience. I hope Ms. Leyden’s family finds a measure of solace in this guilty verdict, which ensures this defendant will never walk free again.”

Marcelin now faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 10.

America’s 250th Birthday Could Feature the Biggest Fireworks Show in History

America’s 250th Birthday Could Feature the Biggest Fireworks Show in History
May 16, 2026

A White House-backed group is planning a record-breaking fireworks display over Washington, D.C., on July 4 as part of celebrations marking America’s 250th anniversary.

According to Axios, organizers with Freedom 250 are aiming to surpass the current Guinness World Record for the world’s largest fireworks display, set in the Philippines in 2016.

Breaking that record would require more than 810,000 fireworks.

The planned display is expected to run for more than 30 minutes, nearly twice the length of last year’s National Mall fireworks show.

Freedom 250, which is helping coordinate events tied to the anniversary celebrations, has hired Pennsylvania-based pyrotechnics company Pyrotecnico to oversee the display.

The company has previously worked on major events, including the Super Bowl.

“We are shooting to break the record,” Pyrotecnico marketing director Jodi Dague told Axios.

The fireworks are expected to serve as the centerpiece of broader Independence Day events in the capital, including the Great American State Fair on the National Mall.

Federal authorities have designated the event a National Special Security Event, significantly increasing the security response.

The designation places the July 4 celebrations under the same level of federal coordination typically used for presidential inaugurations and other major national events, with the Secret Service leading security planning.

The expanded security preparations come amid heightened scrutiny over public safety in Washington following several recent incidents, including the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner.

There is also ongoing turmoil within the Metropolitan Police Department, where senior officials have faced disciplinary action tied to an investigation into alleged manipulation of crime statistics.

Freedom 250 has not disclosed the projected cost of the event or whether public funds will be used to support the fireworks display.

Celebrations are expected to extend far beyond the July 4th fireworks display.

Organizers have planned a series of nationwide events as part of the broader America 250 initiative, including the Great American State Fair on the National Mall, military flyovers, concerts, historical exhibitions, and patriotic ceremonies.

Trump has also floated other high-profile events tied to the milestone, including a UFC event on White House grounds, as the administration seeks to turn the semiquincentennial into a major national spectacle.

President Donald Trump revealed late Friday night that, at his direct order, U.S. special operations forces and Nigerian troops carried out a highly complex, perfectly executed raid that killed Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the second-in-command of ISIS worldwide, in Africa.

Trump made the announcement in a post on Truth Social just after 11:30 p.m. EST.

The post read in full:

Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield. Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing. He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa, or help plan operations to target Americans. With his removal, ISIS’s global operation is greatly diminished. Thank you to the Government of Nigeria for your partnership on this operation. GOD BLESS AMERICA! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Al-Minuki’s real name was Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn ‘Ali al-Mainuki. He was born in 1982 in Nigeria.

The Nigerian national rose through the ranks of Boko Haram splinter groups before becoming a senior leader in the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and eventually one of ISIS’s top global figures.

He was known for his ruthless approach and long-standing rivalry with other jihadist leaders.

Al-Minuki defected from Abubakar Shekau’s faction of Boko Haram and joined ISWAP around 2019 or 2020. He reportedly served as ISWAP’s “Minister of Finance” at one point and later became a key regional commander.

By 2023, U.S. intelligence assessed him as the senior leader of ISIS’s al-Furqan Office in the Sahel, the General Directorate of Provinces (GDP) division responsible for coordinating ISIS branches across West Africa and the Lake Chad region, according to the Counter Extremism Project.

The State Department officially designated him a Specially Designated Global Terrorist (SDGT) that year, citing his leadership role in ISIS’s global network.

This operation represents a significant blow to ISIS’s ability to coordinate attacks across Africa and potentially plan operations against Western targets.

Trump emphasized that U.S. intelligence had been tracking al-Minuki despite his attempts to hide on the African continent.

As of early Friday morning, neither the Pentagon nor the Nigerian government has issued statements, making President Trump’s Truth Social post the first official announcement of the mission’s success.

DOJ Moves to Hit Corrupt Mexican Officials with Terror Charges in Latest Cartel Crackdown

DOJ Moves to Hit Corrupt Mexican Officials with Terror Charges in Latest Cartel Crackdown
May 16, 2026

The Trump administration is preparing a major escalation in its war on the Mexican drug cartels.

According to The New York Times, the DOJ is instructing federal prosecutors to pursue terrorism charges against Mexican officials accused of helping cartel operations.

Immediately after taking office last year, Trump designated several major Mexican cartels as foreign terrorist organizations, giving prosecutors wider authority to bring more serious charges against those accused of supporting them.

According to reports, DOJ officials told prosecutors to build cases not only around drug trafficking and corruption, but also around allegations of material support for terrorism.

Meanwhile, CNN reported earlier this week that the CIA has expanded covert operations inside Mexico, including targeted killings of cartel operatives.

However, the Trump administration denied this.

REPORT: CIA is Waging a Secret Assassination Campaign Against Mexican Cartels

U.S. prosecutors recently charged Sinaloa Governor Rubén Rocha Moya, along with several current and former Mexican officials, over alleged links to cartel activity. Rocha has denied the accusations.

DEA Administrator Terrance Cole told lawmakers this week that further prosecutions are expected.

The administration has made cartel enforcement a central priority, arguing that fentanyl trafficking and cartel violence pose a direct threat to American national security.

Mexico has extradited dozens of cartel suspects to the U.S. in recent months, including high-profile traffickers, but tensions have risen over U.S. prosecutions targeting senior political figures.

The country’s leftist president, Claudia Sheinbaum, has objected to previous cases involving Mexican officials and accused Washington of failing to provide sufficient evidence of their guilt.

Sheinbaum has previously sought to alter the Mexican constitution to protect the cartels from American response, saying any attacks would amount to an attack on the country’s “sovereignty.”

“What we want to make clear in the face of this designation is that we do not negotiate sovereignty,” Sheinbaum said at the time.

“This cannot be an opportunity on the part of the United States to invade our sovereignty.”

If successfully extradited and convicted of material support for terrorism charges, which carry severe penalties, the Mexican officials could face the rest of their lives in American prison cells.

California Mayor Suing State Over Sanctuary Law, Argues it Endangers Kids and Forces Cops to Violate Federal Immigration Statutes

California Mayor Suing State Over Sanctuary Law, Argues it Endangers Kids and Forces Cops to Violate Federal Immigration Statutes

California Mayor Suing State Over Sanctuary Law, Argues it Endangers Kids and Forces Cops to Violate Federal Immigration Statutes
May 16, 2026

Portrait of a man in a blue shirt and striped tie, standing in front of the U.S. Capitol building with a cloudy sky backdrop.

Republican Mayor Bill Wells and the City of El Cajon have filed a lawsuit against California Attorney General Rob Bonta and the state itself, arguing that its sanctuary law actively encourages illegal immigration in violation of federal criminal statutes.

The lawsuit targets Senate Bill 54, which severely restricts state and local law enforcement from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

The city, backed by the America First Policy Institute (AFPI), contends that California’s entire sanctuary regime, including driver’s licenses, in-state tuition, workplace protections, and limits on ICE cooperation, amounts to illegal “encouragement or inducement” of aliens to reside in the United States, a federal felony under 8 U.S.C. § 1324.

The lawsuit was sparked when Homeland Security officials alerted El Cajon police about approximately 52 undocumented children potentially living in unsafe conditions alongside illegal alien adults, raising serious concerns about sex trafficking and exploitation.

When city officials asked the California Attorney General’s office whether officers could conduct basic welfare checks on these children, the response was effectively “no,” as doing so would violate SB 54.

Mayor Wells explained in a Fox News op-ed:

A few months ago, the federal Department of Homeland Security contacted our city with a list of names and addresses of children who may be living unsupervised in unsafe conditions alongside illegal alien adults. Knowing the prevalence of human trafficking in this region, we were gravely concerned about the wellbeing of these kids. We asked the attorney general’s office a simple question: could El Cajon police conduct welfare checks on these children who are potentially in danger? The answer from the Attorney General’s office was essentially “no”– not if our officers wanted to remain compliant with California law. The AG’s office told us that doing those welfare checks would violate Senate Bill 54, the state’s sanctuary law.

Read that again. The state told a city of 110,000 people that its police officers could not check on potentially endangered children simply because doing so may expose the addresses of illegal aliens.

That is the opposite of public safety – it is moral collapse.

The city is not challenging the law on the grounds of state funding or resources. Instead, it is testing a legal theory that has not been fully litigated before, that California’s sanctuary policies as a whole were deliberately designed to induce illegal residence, directly conflicting with federal immigration law.

Attorney General Rob Bonta’s office has already pushed back, warning Mayor Wells to “prepare for another loss” and insisting that sanctuary laws make Californians safer, according to a report from Law Enforcement Today.

Wells fired back directly, “Tell that to the children this law is endangering.”

Chairman of AFPI’s America First California chapter, Mike Garcia, said in a press release:

“This lawsuit represents AFPI’s commitment to supporting law enforcement who should not have to choose between abiding by federal law or state laws when they are just trying to do what is right for their citizens. Extreme policies from Sacramento put police officers’ careers in jeopardy and compromise the safety of all our communities.”
