Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks abruptly resigned on Thursday, according to Fox News.

“It’s just time,” Banks told Fox News reporter Bill Melugin.

“I feel like I got the ship back on course. From the least secure disastrous chaotic border to the most secure border this country has ever seen. Time to pass the reigns, 37 years its time to enjoy the family and life,” he said.

Mike Banks said it was an honor of his lifetime to serve his country in an email to colleagues.

President Trump tapped Mike Banks as Border Patrol Chief in January 2025.

Banks was serving as Texas border czar for Governor Abbott when Trump appointed him as Border Patrol Chief.

Banks’ resignation is the latest shakeup in the Trump Administration’s immigration enforcement apparatus.

British Health Secretary Wes Streeting Resigns, Expected to Challenge Keir Starmer’s Leadership

Another day, another crisis befalls failing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

They wanted him gone for having appointed Jeffrey Epstein’s ‘pal’ Peter Mandelson as ambassador to the United States.

Then, they wanted him gone for covering up how the vetting process of Mandelson was badly bungled.

Finally, the want him gone after the Labour party was massacred in last week’s local elections.

Labour MPs rebelled, then ministers resigned, and now, his Health Secretary joins the mutiny, resigns and is expected to challenge Starmer.

The Telegraph reported:

“In his resignation letter, Mr. Streeting criticized the ‘drift’ at the top of Government and told the Prime Minister it was ‘clear’ he would not lead Labour into the next election.

He launched a scathing attack on Sir Keir’s leadership, criticizing him for cutting the winter fuel allowance, describing Britain as an ‘island of strangers’ in a controversial migration speech and sacking staff rather than taking responsibility for his own mistakes.”

Streeting called for the ‘best possible field of candidates’ to stand and replace Sir Keir in Downing Street.

“He said: ‘It is now clear that you will not lead the Labour Party into the next general election and that Labour MPs and Labour unions want the debate about what comes next to be a battle of ideas, not of personalities or petty factionalism. It needs to be broad, and it needs to be the best possible field of candidates. I support that approach and I hope you will facilitate it.”

The backroom efforts to unseat Starmer finally broke out into open rebellion today.

Associated Press reported:

“Health Secretary Wes Streeting became the first senior minister to quit Starmer ’s Cabinet on Thursday in what is expected to be a precursor to challenging his leadership.

‘You have shown courage and statesmanship on the world stage — not least in keeping Britain out of the war in Iran,” Streeting wrote in a letter. ‘But where we need vision, we have a vacuum. Where we need direction, we have drift’. It is now clear that you will not lead the Labour Party into the next general election’, he added.”

Romania’s Presidency on Trial: 400,000 Romanians Demand President Dan’s Suspension for Serious Violations
May 14, 2026

Romania’s political crisis is entering a new and volatile phase, as questions surrounding democratic legitimacy, institutional overreach, and the country’s political future continue to intensify.

Nearly a year into the presidency of Nicușor Dan, a formal suspension initiative—however symbolic—has been submitted to Parliament, according to reports from the Romanian press. While unlikely to advance procedurally, the motion has reignited deeper concerns about governance and the direction of the Romanian state.

The proposal, filed by the nationalist S.O.S. Romania invokes Article 95 of the Constitution, which allows for presidential suspension in cases of serious violations. Though the motion lacks sufficient parliamentary backing, its contents have forced a broader national conversation.

At the heart of the controversy are allegations that Dan has blurred the constitutional boundaries of his office. Critics argue that his actions reflect a pattern of institutional interference rather than the neutrality required of the presidency.

Among the accusations are claims that the president has inserted himself into judicial matters, including consultations with magistrates and the collection of legal materials. These steps, critics say, risk creating a parallel structure of influence outside established institutions.

Concerns have also been raised over public remarks directed at the Constitutional Court. Observers note that even indirect commentary from the presidency can be perceived as pressure in Romania’s fragile institutional ecosystem.

The suspension proposal further alleges that Dan has conditioned government formation on ideological criteria. Specifically, references to a “pro-Western” alignment have drawn scrutiny for introducing political filters not explicitly grounded in constitutional provisions.

Another flashpoint has been the president’s visible presence at partisan political events. His public support for a candidate in Bucharest’s mayoral race has fueled accusations that he has abandoned the neutrality expected of his office.

Equally contentious is the continued absence of a permanent civilian director for the Romanian Intelligence Service. Critics warn that maintaining interim leadership while advocating expanded powers raises concerns about oversight and accountability.

The proposed expansion of intelligence services into areas such as anti-corruption and tax enforcement has further complicated the picture. Without clear civilian control, such moves risk reviving long-standing fears about the concentration of power.

While these issues alone have generated significant debate, they are unfolding against an even more sensitive backdrop: the disputed cancellation of Romania’s previous presidential election.

That decision—still fiercely contested in parts of the political landscape—remains a defining fault line in Romanian politics. For many voters, it raised fundamental questions about sovereignty, democratic process, and the role of external influence.

Supporters of Călin Georgescu, widely seen as a key beneficiary of that election, have continued to challenge the legitimacy of its annulment. They argue that the outcome reflected a broader public demand for change that was ultimately set aside.

In this context, the current tensions surrounding Dan’s presidency are being interpreted by some as part of a larger pattern. Critics claim that institutional mechanisms are being used not only to govern, but to shape political outcomes.

The government formation process has become another arena for dispute. By emphasizing ideological alignment, opponents argue, the presidency risks transforming a constitutional role into a political instrument.

The debate has also extended to Romania’s engagement with international partners. The submission of reports on domestic electoral matters to external actors before full parliamentary debate has raised concerns among critics about transparency and sovereignty.

At the same time, the administration has framed its actions as part of a broader reform agenda. Dan, who rose to prominence as a civic reformer, campaigned on promises of transparency, institutional integrity, and a break from entrenched political practices.

Yet, nearly a year into his term, critics argue that the gap between rhetoric and reality is becoming increasingly visible. They point to decisions that appear to mirror the very patterns he once criticized.

Romania’s political history is marked by cycles of high expectations followed by disillusionment. Analysts note that leaders who emerge as reformers often face the challenge of translating principles into governance under intense pressure.

The current moment reflects that tension. The presidency, intended as a balancing institution, is now itself at the center of the political storm.

Procedurally, the suspension initiative faces significant hurdles. It would require the support of one-third of Parliament, a Constitutional Court opinion, a parliamentary vote, and ultimately a national referendum—steps that remain unlikely in the present configuration.

Still, its symbolic impact is undeniable. By cataloging a series of alleged oversteps, the motion has placed the presidency under a level of scrutiny that is difficult to ignore.

For the growing conservative opposition in Romania, the goal of the initiative may be less about immediate removal of the president and more about shaping the narrative. By highlighting concerns over institutional balance, they are seeking to completely redefine the political debate.

For supporters of the current administration, the challenge lies in defending the reform agenda while addressing mounting criticism. The coming months will test whether the presidency can restore confidence or deepen divisions.

Romania finds itself at a crossroads, where competing visions of governance, sovereignty, and political legitimacy are colliding.

As the political landscape continues to evolve, in some cases quite rapidly, one question looms large: whether the current tensions represent a temporary phase—or the beginning of a more profound realignment in Romanian politics.

The Justice Department has officially declared war on the radical leftist D.C. Bar’s decades-long abuse of power, filing a bombshell complaint against their disciplinary authorities for illegally targeting federal government attorneys who dared to serve President Donald Trump.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche and the Trump DOJ filed the complaint on Wednesday against D.C. Disciplinary Counsel Hamilton P. Fox III, the D.C. Office of Disciplinary Counsel, and the D.C. Court of Appeals Board on Professional Responsibility.

The filing directly advances President Trump’s Executive Order Ending the Weaponization of the Federal Government and his Presidential Memorandum on Preventing Abuses of the Legal System and the Federal Courts.

It seeks to shut down the D.C. Bar’s unlawful prosecution of former Assistant Attorney General Jeff Clark, a Trump loyalist targeted purely for his internal deliberations on 2020 election fraud that remains the subject of ongoing litigation nearly six years later.

Just last week, the DOJ filed a statement of interest supporting former interim U.S. Attorney Ed Martin, who the D.C. Bar is trying to crucify for daring to challenge DEI brainwashing at Georgetown Law Center.

The Gateway Pundit reported on that outrageous hit job back in March:

“The DC bar’s attempt to target and punish those serving President Trump while refusing to investigate or act against actual ethical violations that were committed by Biden and Obama administration attorneys is a clear indication of this partisan organization’s agenda,” the DOJ told CBS at the time.

More from the DOJ:

The Justice Department today filed a complaint against D.C. Disciplinary Counsel Hamilton P. Fox III, the D.C. Office of Disciplinary Counsel, and the D.C. Court of Appeals Board on Professional Responsibility over their improper use of bar discipline to regulate the official actions of Federal Government attorneys.  The filing advances President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order Ending the Weaponization of the Federal Government and Presidential Memorandum on Preventing Abuses of the Legal System and the Federal Courts.  Specifically, the complaint seeks to nullify the D.C. Bar’s unlawful prosecution of former Assistant Attorney General Jeff Clark based on internal deliberations relating to potential fraud in the 2020 Presidential Election, which remains the subject of litigation nearly six years later.

“As our complaint and history make clear, the DC Bar has long acted as a blatantly partisan arm of leftist causes. No more,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.

“President Trump promised to put an end to the weaponization of the legal process, and today’s lawsuit against the D.C. Bar makes good on that promise,” said Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward.  “The D.C. Bar will no longer be permitted to probe sensitive Executive Branch deliberations and target Executive Branch officials with whom they happen to politically disagree, and Federal attorneys will once again be free to share their candid legal advice with their bosses and colleagues.”

Just last week, the Justice Department filed a statement of interest in support of former interim United States Attorney Ed Martin, who is seeking to have the D.C. Bar’s unlawful prosecution of him heard in a neutral Federal tribunal.

As three former Attorneys General recently recognized, the D.C. Bar’s efforts to discipline Justice Department attorneys “for making recommendations, factual assertions, and providing legal advice during confidential internal agency deliberations on law enforcement and sensitive public policy” are “improper and constitutionally impermissible.”

Associate Attorney General Stanley Woodward filed the complaint. The complaint is available here.

Fairfax County Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano is slated to testify before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement this morning about preferential treatment toward illegal alien criminals as the Justice Department probes its alleged bias.

The hearing, titled “Fairfax County, Virginia: The Dangerous Consequences of Sanctuary Policies,” is set to “examine how state and local policies that prioritize illegal aliens over U.S. citizens and prohibit cooperation with federal immigration authorities hurt public safety and have devastating consequences,” according to the committee.

This comes after the murder of Stephanie Minter, 41, who was stabbed to death in February by an illegal alien from Sierra Leone with over thirty arrests.

Under the Soros-backed prosecutors, crimes like this by illegal aliens frequently occur in Fairfax County.

Per Fox 5 DC:

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) opened a civil rights investigation into the office of Fairfax Commonwealth Attorney last week, focusing on its plea bargaining, charging decisions and sentencing policies.

In response to the investigation announcement, Descano said that his office’s policies are fair, legal, and reflect the values” of his community in a statement provided to FOX 5 D.C.

What they’re saying: Sources provided FOX 5 D.C. with a copy of Descano’s written remarks ahead of the hearing.

“Let me be absolutely clear,” he is expected to testify. “My office does not provide sanctuary or safe harbor to undocumented immigrants. In fact, we routinely prosecute immigrants who commit crimes, and we will continue to do so.”

Descano is expected to also directly extend his condolences to Cheryl Minter, whose daughter Stephanie was killed, according to authorities, by an undocumented immigrant with more than 30 prior charges. Cheryl Minter is also slated to testify before the House Judiciary Subcommittee.

Descano is further expected to blame the Trump Administration for the release of criminal illegal aliens onto the Commonwealth’s streets and claim that he is prosecuting the criminal illegals despite the County’s documented history of defying ICE detainer requests.

It can also be recalled that Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger, as one of her first actions in the governor’s office this January, reversed former Governor Youngkin’s policy and ended local police cooperation with federal immigration authorities.

House Republicans are expected to grill the far-left prosecutor.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 am ET.
