SNAP Junk Food Bans in Two States on Hold Due to Court Rulings

SNAP Junk Food Bans in Two States on Hold Due to Court Rulings

The battle over SNAP benefits might be being waged from state to state, but federal courts are part of the action, too.

Two states that had planned restrictions on the foods that can be purchased by those using Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program cards have put the moves on hold after a federal court ruled in favor of SNAP recipients in a case covering five other states, Newsweek reported Monday.

Six states still have restrictions in place.

SNAP, formerly known as “food stamps,” is a federally funded program administered by the individual states. It is overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Some states restrict its use from purchasing junk food, such as sodas, candy, and some juices and energy drinks. Others have plans to do so.

The states that already have restrictions that are unaffected by the ruling, according to the grocery tracking website Greenchoice, are Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.

South Carolina and North Dakota were only days away from implementing similar bans beginning Sept. 1 when Judge Amy Berman Jackson, an Obama appointee on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, struck down restrictions that had already been in place in Colorado, Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee, and West Virginia.

The USDA had approved South Carolina and North Dakota’s plans in December, according to Newsweek.

In her ruling, Jackson — who presided over the trials of Trump supporters Paul Manafort and Roger Stone — declared that Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins had misapplied federal statute in approving the restrictions for those states, according to Politico.

The future of SNAP restrictions will likely hinge on whether the Trump administration appeals Jackson’s ruling, U.S. News and World Report noted.

The administration has not made an announcement yet, but both Rollins and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. issued statements in the wake of Jackson’s decision that implied they would contest the ruling.

Branding Jackson as an “activist judge,” Rollins used a post on the social media platform X to explain the USDA’s position.

“SNAP is for food — not sugar bombs fueling obesity, diabetes, and skyrocketing healthcare costs for low-income families,” she wrote.

“Taxpayers shouldn’t subsidize junk food and drinks at the expense of American health.”

“We will continue pursuing every available path to Make America Healthy Again.”

In her seat on the District Court for the District of Columbia, Jackson presided over the trials of some of those arrested in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol incursion.

She also presided over the trials of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort and outspoken Trump supporter Roger Stone, who both faced federal charges arising from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation of Trump’s alleged “Russian collusion.” (Mueller’s own investigation could find no evidence of such collusion.)

Berman Jackson sentenced both men to stiff prison terms.

Trump commuted Stone’s sentence in July 2020. Trump pardoned Manafort in December 2020.

In a post responding to Rollins, Kennedy was just as forceful about Berman Jackson’s decision in the SNAP case.

“Taxpayers should not be forced to pay for products that make people sick and then pay again for the medical care that follows. SNAP was created to fight hunger and improve nutrition, not to subsidize the chronic disease epidemic,” he wrote.

Burning Man Under High Fire Threat As ‘Orgy Dome’ Reopens After It Was Destroyed by Dust Storm Last Year
September 1, 2026

It’s that time of year!

Tens of thousands of ‘Burners’ flocked to the Nevada desert this year to engage in debauchery.

Burning Man is a yearly drug-infested music and art festival in Northern Nevada, in Black Rock City. Attendees engage in sexually degenerate activities such as “whippings by a dominatrix priestess,” “circle jerks,” “c*ck fights” and orgies.

Last year, a wicked dust storm kicked up on the first day of the festival and it ruined camp sites. Winds reached more than 45 miles per hour, according to a spokesperson for Burning Man.

The Orgy Dome was also completely destroyed by the windstorm.

Video posted to X shows camp sites being blown away by the strong winds.

Just one day after the windstorm last year, a monsoonal thunderstorm moved over the playa.

Burning Man 2026 is under a high fire threat as the ‘Orgy Dome’ reopened after it was destroyed, according to Accuweather.

Gusty winds and dry conditions resulted in a high fire threat.

In 2024, it was reported a woman died on the opening day of the Burning Man.

Last year a man was murdered at Burning Man.

Wow! Leftie Van Jones RIPS Abdul El Sayed’s “Incredibly Dangerous” Wacky Commie Policies – Claims Abdul Thinks He’s Smarter than Barack Obama
September 1, 2026

Far left activist Van Jones argues that Democrat Abdul El Sayed’s policies are “incredibly dangerous.”

When you lose Van Jones, you know you are hitting rock bottom on the left.

The former Green Czar under the Obama regime and founder of Green for All spoke out publicly against Michigan’s radical US Senate candidate Abdul El Sayed.

Van Jones claims El Sayed thinks he’s smarter than him and Obama.

For the far party that defends any far-left loser in their ranks, this was a bold statement by Mr. Jones.

Jones made the comments on Ask Haviv Anything podcast two weeks ago.

Van Jones:  These people are incredibly dangerous. Uh, Abdul, who, you know, I worked with at CNN, I know Abdul. Um, his positions on Israel and foreign policy are insane. They’re not reasonable reactions to anything. Um, look, some Democrats are going to say that we should condition military aid, um, that, you know, uh, Israel’s gone too far in Gaza and the West Bank and in Lebanon.

We’re going to put some conditions on you. I think that’s a defensible position if you’re a Democrat. That’s not Abdul’s position. Um, there are people who say we shouldn’t be paying for any of the, uh, military. Yeah, we shouldn’t, we shouldn’t be giving military aid.  Now I think that’s understandable, but I think it’s defensible because it’s not charity. We’re building a strong defense sector here and Israel is protecting a lot of Western interests in that region.  But I can, I can get why you would say no more aid. They got to pay their own way. That’s not Abdul’s position.

Abdul’s position is a total and complete arms embargo against the state of Israel. Including defensive weapons. That’s an insane position. That says if Israel wants to pay for interceptors to stop a rocket coming from Iran or coming from Hezbollah or coming from Hamas, an interceptor, we should deny them the right to buy the interceptors to knock down rockets going at Israeli children, women, men, babies.

And by the way, it offends me because that’s, you know, Barack Obama was a part of creating that Iron Dome. Barack Obama was a part of creating those interceptors. Barack Obama thought that the Israeli people were in such a tough neighborhood that they needed to be able to knock down rockets.

So you’re telling me you’re smarter than Barack Obama, you have better ideas about foreign policy than Barack Obama, and you want to deplug and defund and take away Israel’s, half the world’s Jews’ ability to defend themselves.

That’s an insane position.

Texas Democrats Freak Over Plan to Eliminate Nearly 100 Low Turnout Polling Locations

Texas Democrats Freak Over Plan to Eliminate Nearly 100 Low Turnout Polling Locations

Texas Democrats are freaking out over a Republican backed plan to eliminate nearly 100 Election Day polling locations in Tarrant County.

Local officials say the sites are unnecessary and the revised plan comfortably exceeds state requirements.

Tarrant County commissioners will vote Tuesday on a proposal providing 224 Election Day polling locations, compared with 316 during the 2022 midterms.

County officials say the consolidation is based on voter turnout data and will eliminate low turnout locations while making better use of election workers and resources.

The county has more than 1.3 million registered voters but operates a countywide voting system.

The system means that voters can cast their ballots at any Election Day polling location rather than being restricted to a particular precinct.

The proposal also provides 54 more locations than Texas law requires.

An earlier plan would have provided 176 Election Day locations, but Tarrant County Judge Tim O’Hare demanded that election officials increase the number.

“When the first version of this plan came before Commissioners Court, I said on the record that I didn’t believe it contained enough locations and asked staff to sharpen their pencils,” O’Hare said.

The resulting proposal added another 48 sites.

Officials have also said some previous locations are no longer usable, while others do not satisfy accessibility requirements.

Nevertheless, Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico appeared at a protest Sunday, claiming that it was part of a sinister plan for voter suppression.

“The most powerful people in this county, the most powerful people in this country, don’t want us to be able to vote easily.”

“We’re here fighting for the rights of everybody,” Talarico added. “The problem is when we let become a partisan issue.”

The Texas Democratic Party echoed Talarico’s claims.

“This is not a compromise. Closing one-third of polling places compared to 2022– despite the county growing– is voter suppression.” they moaned.

The Commissioners Court will vote on the proposal on Tuesday

Hasan Piker’s Claim He Doesn’t Hate America Clashes With That Time He Declared ‘I Hate America’

Hasan Piker’s Claim He Doesn’t Hate America Clashes With That Time He Declared ‘I Hate America’

Hasan Piker’s Claim He Doesn’t Hate America Clashes With That Time He Declared ‘I Hate America’
September 1, 2026

Leftist influencer Hasan Piker forgot the internet is forever when he told viewers he does not hate America — as footage of him saying exactly that was easily found.

Piker has been consistently in the spotlight as a close ally of Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. The 35-year-old streamer has made a fool of himself in the past, but is now trying to soften his image in the hopes that his conduct will not undo El-Sayed’s campaign.

One instance of that effort was posted to social media platform X where Piker, in one clip, told his audience, “It’s laughable to say guys like myself, guys like Abdul El-Sayed, we hate America.”

The footage then cuts to a separate clip of Piker saying those exact words.

“I say I hate America all the time. A lot of motherf***ers want to kill me over that take, but at least I say it with my f***ing chest.”

WARNING: The following footage contains language some viewers may find offensive.

We are just two weeks away from the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Piker declared during a 2019 livestream that America “deserved 9/11″ — and has since been disavowed by El-Sayed for those comments.

“Of course it was a dumb statement and of course I think Hasan himself would say that was a dumb statement,” El-Sayed said. “He disavowed it,” noting that Piker has since walked his words back, according to Politico.

Ultimately, what are his actual views?

He seems to be an incoherent lunatic who checks every typical leftist box.

He is an activist who was gifted a career working for his uncle, Cenk Uygur of the Young Turks.

Despite being a millionaire, he denounces capitalism and praises socialism.

His streams are a nonsensical lowlight where he never learns from his past, making one radical, unhinged remark after the next.

This is who the Democratic Party has as a spokesman in 2026.

Does Piker hate America? What reason has he given us to doubt that he does?

His work consists of being an enraged agitator who denounces “the system” in whatever self-styled fashion he chooses on a given day.

He cannot even account for his past comments about hating this country when trying to misdirect the public in an effort to appear “moderate.”
