Legendary Metallica frontman James Hetfield shredded left-wing Hollywood arrogance during a concert in Las Vegas, delivering a fiery reality check to out-of-touch entertainers who use their massive platforms to lecture fans with political propaganda.

During the band’s October 10 show as part of its ongoing “Life Burns Faster” residency at the high-tech Sphere, Hetfield paused between songs to thank fans who had traveled and spent money to be there.

He then delivered a direct shot at other performers who treat concerts like political rallies.

“Unless you live in Vegas, you’ve come a long way to spend some time with Metallica. We’re grateful for that — your travels, the money you spend, the time it took, thanks for coming to celebrate with us,” Hetfield said, according to reports and video from the show.

“And I just gotta say, Metallica is not here, like some other entertainers, to influence you with their bullshit, okay? We are here…no bullshit…we’re here to forget about all the outside shit, okay? Metallica’s agenda is love, energy and heavy music, baby!”

The comments landed as a refreshing rejection of the growing habit among left-leaning artists to turn stages into soapboxes.

Hetfield did not name anyone specifically, but the remarks come amid recent high-profile examples of entertainers injecting politics into live shows, including Macklemore’s anti-Israel material that led to chaos on Ed Sheeran’s tour, Paramore’s Hayley Williams shouting political slogans, and leftist events like the “Power to the People” festival organized by Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello.

As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, Bruce Springsteen headlined the October 3 “Power to the People” festival in Maryland, where musicians and activist organizations promoted opposition to President Donald Trump.

The event featured Springsteen, Dave Matthews, and Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello. It also included anti-ICE rhetoric, pro-Palestinian chants, and political organizing efforts ahead of the midterm elections.

And Hetfield isn’t the only rock legend questioning whether audiences should be subjected to political speeches during concerts.

In July, The Gateway Pundit reported that Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger similarly argued that musicians should prioritize entertaining their audiences instead of lecturing them about politics.

Journey guitarist Jonathan Cain also blasted Springsteen for turning concerts into political rallies, urging him to concentrate on his music.

This isn’t the first time Hetfield has expressed frustration with politics invading music.

In a 2017 interview with Chilean newspaper La Tercera, Hetfield explained that he preferred keeping his political opinions private because political disagreements can divide listeners who would otherwise connect through music.

He specifically discussed how publicly supporting or opposing Trump could alienate fans who disagree with him.

And that distinction matters.
